Yeah, whatever. I can only speak for my tribe and the ones I'm familiar with or have kinship ties to and I'm from the Southwest. We tend to have a lot more intact than other tribes in other parts of NA.. To name a few there is the Nádleehi (Navajo), Lhamana (Zuni), Winkte (Lakota), and Baté (Crow), and Hova(Hopi).

At one time we Navajos had sash belts specifically for those people, but they, along with women and twins, abandoned this practice and other traditional clothing during Naahondzood and the Long Walk as it made them easily identifiable to slavers.

Also, the 21 Pueblo tribes(Hopi, Zuni, Laguna, etc.) are among the oldest cultures in the United States; with the Hopi having the longest record of continuous habitation in North America. This is also where many Navajo adopted practices and traditions from. Some of the oldest and largest Navajo clans even emerged from the various Pueblos and Ancestral Puebloans.

Even the many Apache bands had their own people like this. As another person mentioned; Lozen was one of these people.

It would be difficult to find a tribe that rejects the idea that such roles existed in their history. This isn’t some foreign idea or baseless conjecture imposed on Indigenous nations/tribes/bands/clans/etc. and most actually had these roles historically and culturally.
