Yup, very aggravating. It's just become another mainstream media, now. The government used to have it's hands all over TV, radio, and telephone. We managed to move away from that, and they just followed us.
It's like we’re having a great time in the pool, but some ass decides to take a shit in the pool. We move to a new pool, but he just follows us, and takes a dump in that pool, too. No good. We need to deal with this asshole, first!

We probably need to push for digital 4th Amendment protections. Right now there’s almost no real expectation of privacy online, especially with how courts have interpreted things like third party doctrine and stored communications. If anything, it seems like it’s only going to get worse.
GildSkiss@reddit
If you didn't want your information to be used by some company you never should have given it to them in the first place. Getting the government to intervene in the market to "protect privacy" isn't libertarian.
BringBackUsenet@reddit
There is such a thing as informed consent, and reasonable expectations. Burying something in 100 pages of TOS that we know nobody reads is hardly informed consent.
GildSkiss@reddit
No one is forcing you to use the products being offered. The fact that someone else created them is an opportunity that you can either take or leave.
If you're offended by a long TOS, and don't want to read it, you should not accept it.
BringBackUsenet@reddit
No they aren't being forced but they aren't making any effort to advise people of the true price of the product. This is an issue of honest business practices, not libertarianism which should be about promoting honest business, not allowing scams.

I don't think we'll be able to escape it. Everything we say and do, everything we look at on the internet and the real world will sit in a data center waiting to be sold or used in some way. Including what you spend your money on.

Everything within the sensory range of your phone can be recorded. Even people without phones like infants and children. It hears every grunt you make on the toilet. Every snore you make at night. Like a Black Mirror version of the Star Trek Tricorder. And as long as they record it now, it can be infinitely datamined, even as technology changes and adapts. As far as we know, a phone call sensor history from an iPhone today could be extrapolated and interpolated to recreate an entire scene around the phone like you're on some sort of Holodeck. Especially when paired with other records like photos, blueprints, and other records.

I really wish that my job didn't require having a smart phone, it's like having the CIA in your pocket at all times lol

NSA.

Now I am curious, why you so much disliked my post? To me the statements by the guy in the video show that apparently some presumably MAGA conservatives don't understand anything about tariffs. I don't know the people in the clip, and the comments did not really help in that.
Why did you try to tell others to block me based on one admittedly ridiculous video? Makes it look like you want censorship or you want to be a gatekeeper...
Actually many comments and posts can still be found in spite of a hidden history.

How delicate are your feelings and is your attachment to imaginary internet points that you have to chase a stranger about this? Move on with your life
McDonaldsWi-Fi@reddit
Kinda lame you brought this here in a totally unrelated thread. Why do you care what some internet stranger says about you lol
QuickNature@reddit
Redditors be doing some wild shit out here
McDonaldsWi-Fi@reddit
we out here dawg

In one word: #enshittification.
What hasn't been destroyed by the governmafias, has been ruined by big corporations and crass commercialism coopting large portions of it, where once we had decentralized systems that made it freer and more useful, no we have Big Data gathering information on us by the gigebyte, and shoving crap in our faces.

Some sort of real ID that follows you everywhere. True anonymity will be very hard even if some site choose to mask ID.
McDonaldsWi-Fi@reddit
Yup the internet as we know it is dead. (lookup Dead Internet Theory)
