Jesus christ was a biological woman
She (or he if they identified as a transman) was the child of only one parent, Mary with NO paternal input from Joseph or any male. To be a male ofcourse you need a y chromosome which only a male father can pass down which jesus lacked. She possed therefore no Y chromosome just an x chromosome making her a biological female. Jesus is sometimes described or shown to have a beard but there are conditions where biological females can grow facial hair (ie Hirsutism) which jesus may have had

Wait... so you're willing to deny the whole "immaculately conceived by God" part of the story, but you're still going to believe the pregnant woman claiming to be a virgin?

Can a bro not post his theological shitposts on a sub LITERALLY called CRAZY ideas 😭😭 without both christians AND atheists getting riled up! Come on yall
Underhill42@reddit
Why else would you cast crazy ideas into the cosmos if not for them to be mocked, criticized, and generally joked about?
And just maybe... almost certainly not, but just maybe... get a "You know..."

What I said to another commenter already (who btw was way more respectful then you)
Oh I'm sorry 😭. I wasn't trying to make a poli tica l statement or be serious. I'm an athiest, so I don't actually believe in jesus. I was just playing along with the christian lore I wasn't seriously entertaining the idea so I didn't think too hard about it.
That said, thanks for informing me, though, about the gender stuff
Underhill42@reddit
I think you've got me confused with someone else, I said nothing about gender stuff.
SubstantialEshaii@reddit (OP)
I copy and pasted my response since I didn't think you worthy of a personally tailored response, sorry your bad
Underhill42@reddit
My apologies, it seems one of us has badly misunderstood the point of this sub. Pretty sure it's not me.
ThePython11010@reddit
I think it pretty clearly says that he was God's son.

If we are going by Christian lore (which I assume we are as it’s a post about Jesus) - Jesus is genderless.
Regardless of what your translation says, it’s a bit egotistical to assign a gender to God 🤭
PlutoCharonMelody@reddit
God is often depicted as being a man in the Bible. Pretty sure He would make Jesus be an actual son.
werduvfaith@reddit
Jesus was male. He also referred to the Father as male .
unmelted_ice@reddit
Human Jesus was male. The other 100% of him that was God (at the time he had a human body) is genderless.
Which means we are both right!
blackwhattack@reddit
well assuming the God part exists...
unmelted_ice@reddit
Why would anyone ask about Jesus in relation to his divinity without the assumption that God exists?
For what it’s worth I’m agnostic (and would argue no one knows of god exists or doesn’t exist),but in the context of this Reddit post, god does exist so we answer the question under that assumption like normal people.
Megalocerus@reddit
It's not about gender; it's about chromosomes. To make a human, you need 46 of them. A woman's egg has 23. The rest needed to come from somewhere. If God, I see no problem with the Creator coming up with whatever is required.
And we have no contemporary painting of Jesus. He probably didn't look like a Rennaissance Italian.
Opening_Coach_1945@reddit
Don’t misgender Jesus.
elliottcable@reddit
And who said you can’t have two X chromosomes and be someone’s son? :P
ThePython11010@reddit
Well, it also said he was circumcised, so...
SubstantialEshaii@reddit (OP)
FGM exists
SubstantialEshaii@reddit (OP)
Girl use to refer to children of both sexes. Words change meaning maybe by son it was gender neutral
DotYeg@reddit
All the evidence to the contrary, but set that to one side for a moment.
Suppose Jesus really was a woman, with a vegina and all the accumpaying details.
How does this change the fundamental story, or the human worth of the character of Jesus?
In so far as I know, there's not one episode of his life or death, where he used his penis to accomplish a goal or preform a task, or where it turned out to be an obstacle or encumberance.
Likewise, I can't think of any passages where having a vegina would have benefited him, or for that matter where a vegina would have impeded him in any task or agenda.
Fact of the matter is his gender is perhaps the least important aspect of his identity and his role in the biblical narrative.
That said, the earliest naratives of his life and death were written some three decades after the events they describe. If a guy turned water to wine, healed the sick, and generally made an impression on me as the wisest and most morally admirable guy anywhere-ever, much less as the Son of the Only True God, I'd be writing about him as I followed him around day-by-day. Not waiting 30+ years after he died...
The other consideration is the Nicean Councils, and the where-and-when of the codification of the modern biblical cannon. And of course the how and why such codification was done; ie the motives of the Emperor of Constantinople, and the purpose of a state-religion. I can asure you, piety is perhaps the smallest motivating factor.
Silly-Cloud-3114@reddit
God created the universe, you think he couldn't create a Y chromosome in a woman's embryo?
blackwhattack@reddit
yes, he couldn't. he created the universe including the laws of the universe. by breaking its laws he would be invalidating his own omniscience making and if he's not omnicious he's not God

Leggi la bibbia, forse farai domande con intelligenza.
Gesù Cristo è senza principio
Sta scritto
Ebrei 7:3 Senza padre, senza madre, senza genealogia, senza inizio di giorni né fine di vita, reso simile quindi al Figlio di Dio, egli rimane sacerdote in eterno.

Why is everyone taking this so seriously 😭😭. I posted on r/crazyideas not r/debatetheology

I've seen Jurassic Park. Mary actually had an identical twin, and they were giant frogs. You can figure out the rest.
BatleyMac@reddit
If you believe the rest of the highly implausible theology of Christianity, you should be able to accept that the miracle of virgin birth included sourcing a Y chromosome from the same place they sourced an entire f-ing fetus.
Also, though trans people have always existed, the terminology you mentioned didn't. A lot of the lexicon is less than a decade old, and continues to evolve. And I mean, regardless, if Jesus were a trans man, or in other words a trans masc AFAB (assigned female at birth), his being referred to using he/him pronouns in the Bible, in conjunction with his presenting traditionally masculine, already tells you precisely how to interpret his gender.
This is how you should handle gendering trans people in general actually- when they clearly demonstrate to you by sharing/using their pronouns around you, or better yet they tell you outright what their gender is, regard them and refer to them as that gender. It's not something that's open to discussion; in fact it's quite inappropriate to do so. Each individual person is the one and only authority on what their gender is.
If you're ever in doubt, one question that IS appropriate to ask a trans person (or a cis person!) is, "what are your pronouns?". Even better, say, "hi, my name is _ and my pronouns are __. May I ask yours?". Boom. Easy.
Since you cant necessarily ask Jesus his pronouns, consider where you might have heard them already. Like when Jesus refers to himself as the son of God-that is a declaration of his gender right there, because he did not say daughter.
Hope this clears some things up for you. If not, im happy to answer any gender-related questions you may have, as a non-binary person myself, and/or try to answer any theology questions, though I have less experience, there.

Why is it more surprising about the Y chromosome than the other 22 that had to come from somewhere? Mary just gave 23.
BatleyMac@reddit
Same, as far as the Christian stuff goes! When I think im talking to a Christian I try to respectfully speak as if their world is real, but personally I was raised kinda half-assed pagan/witch, dont take that very seriously either, and only know what I know about Christianity because I gave it a try for about a year of my early 20s, and found it to not really be for me. The sense of community was great, but it came with a lot of strings, and frequent disappointment in the godless actions of supposedly god-loving people.
Im sorry for coming off kinda preachy with the gender stuff. I get sort of stuck in educator mode with the topic because im always having to explain myself and correct people with my pronouns and stuff. I really appreciate your kind reception to it. That shows great character!

Jesus, there was no Jesus. Ya deluded people. If this doesn't get downvoted at least 5 times i'll be disappointed. That's how much faith i have in the number of people that have faith in fiction.

There are many historical accounts of jesus. What kind of idiotic claim is this 😭😭. Sure he probably didn't split the red sea in half or comr back from the dead like christians claim but to say he doesn't exist is madness. Besides I never implied I believe it, I just put it in CrazyIdeas for a reason and not a serious sub like debateTheology
SentenceAwkward5302@reddit
There might have been a 'jesus-like' person in history bit that doesn't mean he existed in a biblical sense. Your comment implied that. There are no historical accounts of a son of god.. But you make a good point, it belongs in 'CrazyIdeas..
SubstantialEshaii@reddit (OP)
There are historical accounts of jesus lol doesn't make the claims made by witnesses or christians true but he did exist or someone jesus in the bible was based off

Ok, poor soul. You are beyond salvation. See you on the other side ✌️
bldkis@reddit
If Christians didn't receive dogmatic scriptual instructions on what to believe about reality they might be a little mad at this but bc they do all you'd get is "you don't truly understand the scripture." You can't troll evangelicals with science bc they don't respect it or understand. They're perfectly happy to take their church leaders words as natural law.

Jesus is obviously very in touch with his feminine side, and despite the gospels being written by a very paternal culture that minimized the role of women- it’s still obvious that his ministry was run with women as the engine. The thing you’re picking up on is not new, it’s just forgotten. There exist old paintings portraying Jesus breastfeeding humanity. As a Christian I believe that Jesus is everything to everyone and I am not at all offended by your line of reasoning.
SubstantialEshaii@reddit (OP)
Okay that last line is actually pretty sweet I like that way of thinking. Is that your theology would you say or more philosophy? Asking out of curiosity
Mundane-Caregiver169@reddit
I don’t know how I’d label it. I would say, If you believe in Jesus as God-made-flesh it wouldn’t be logically consistent to limit him in any way.

The aliens just stuck a Y chromosome in there. Easy enough.
