What's that wallpaper on the Macintosh Performa 450?
jack_from_the_past@reddit (OP)
Just a wallpaper that comes with the OS
DeanTheExtreme@reddit

That performa is one sexy looking machine, even to this day

Rehab is the new recap 🧐
jack_from_the_past@reddit (OP)
I didn’t recap either. I had to exchange some internals on both. The proprietary windows box needed a new psu, ide->sata sd, and the ram was cooked. The Mac needed a replacement drive and I swapped out the 3.5” floppy. Sorry rehab isn’t the term you’d use…?

That’s why I wrote Rehab is the new recap 🤷♂️

I have a performa 475 with 128mb ram and a bluescsi. it's my favorite classic mac.
nucflashevent@reddit
ANY computer when the Performa 475 was in vogue with 128mb would have been "that real shit!" as the kids say 😜

I miss the era of monitor stand powerstrips with each outlet having a dedicated switch. Found a Tripp Lite one at the thrift store a few years ago and had to pick it up.

My first PC was a Macintosh Performa 450! It was always a shame that the 32-bit PDS slots pioneered on the 450/LCIII weren't used more. The 16-bit "LC II PDS" slot became such a standard with schools (things like the Apple II PDS card) that it was kept on certain models even into the PowerPC era.

Yeah I found it at an estate sale with a bunch of 40mb cassette drives for $20 bucks. I grew up on windows until middle school when they let us use teardrops in computer lab. I have a laser 128 (Apple 2 clone) that I found at another sale, too.
