Is this a good AM4 build for 2026 (1080p/1440p gaming) ?

Hey everyone ! Newbie PC builder here, aiming to mostly play games on 1080p high settings, with longevity in mind.

As a note, I couldn't find any x3D cpu for AM4
I'm not sure if I am bottlenecked or if I should opt for case fans instead of that ventirad, and just use the stock AMD cooler
I don't know much about cases in general
I would really appreciate any advice or feedback regarding the build !
Long version : I'm planning to give my old PC to my significant other as a first desktop, and I want to get myself a very solid AM4 PC to survive the current AI hell and last me *at least* half a decade.
I live in France and my budget is 1300 euros, willing the pay the price of performance but savings are always welcome, as finances are not exactly stable right now...
I am not interested in AAA games that much, exception being Monster Hunter Wilds and Clair Obscur, which I'd like to run comfortably at 60 average FPS on 1080p high. In general I don't aim for anything higher than 60 FPS, and I'm not a competitive gamer.
Ideally, if that system can push me to 1440p in the future that would be lovely.
Additionally, I plan to switch to Linux (I'm thinking CachyOS or Bazzite as a fan of SteamOS), but I believe the RX 9060 XT works well enough driver-wise.
I'm also starting to get into game dev, so if that system is capable of fine (not exceptional) code compiling and 3D rendering, I'd be very happy !
Wondering how streaming would go as well
Finally, I'm really not a fan of Nvidia as I'm firmly against their business stance and don't care much for DLSS and RT technologies, hence the team red choice (also, price)
That said, I am open to team blue as well, and mostly lack knowledge/research on how Intel works.
Thanks a lot for your time if you read all of this, and I really appreciate all the help I can get !
Apologies if my syntax is weird, I am not a native English speaker and did not use any translation tool
Have yourself a great rest of your day !

Looks good. The 5800xt is only a 5% uplift from the 5600, which costs less then half. If your main focus is gaming, I would go with that instead.

I didn't know it was that little... I've heard MHWilds was CPU intensive, hence why I chose the best AM4 CPU I have available
How about the 5600X ?
jhaluska@reddit
Due to the extra cores, the 5800x really is bigger difference on multithreaded workloads, there are a few games which can use the extra cores but it's not common. Most AM4 gamers go with the 5600x cause of the better value and will use the money towards a better GPU or save it to upgrade to AM5 sooner.
Also consider the 5500x3D off AliExpress. (MHWilds is considered poorly optimized btw.)

Some games do profit from the extra cores of the 5800XT. For most games, there is no difference. According to this comparison buy Hardware Unboxed (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RijAyVshtok&t=683s&pp=ygUVaGFyZHdhcmUgdW5ib3hlZCA1NjAw) it's not even a 5% uplift in general. I can't speak for MHW tho.
The 5600 and 5600x are practically identical. The non x has slightly lower clock speed, but it's so small that itdoesn't affect gaming performance.

I'll look into it more, thanks a lot !
Nordic_Painter_1933@reddit
Same gaming performance to the 5600. Just stick with the 5600.

I see, thanks !

I have 5600x and 9070xt built recently, Enjoying the 1440p performance.
Will upgrade to am5 after a year or two
Ok_Dragonfruit_4469@reddit
I would highly recommend that you go at least 9070 and get a 5600x instead of 5800... If your main focus would be gaming
Dagladou@reddit (OP)
I see, that makes sense... I'll reconsider the GPU CPU balance Thanks !
