Need help buying a car I just moved to the uk couple months ago, what car would be good?

Some questions can easily be searched online in order to find an answer - including questions like "what should I see when visiting the UK?" or "what is the average salary of an X job?" or "what is living in Y like?" or "where can I buy X?" or "is Y product any good?"

You're basically limited to semi autos for the money, which I don't mind much when driving but they definitely have reliability issues. Something like a smart car, or an Aygo/C1/107, or an Up/Citigo/Mii. There are some "proper automatics" you might find, but be careful and make sure you thoroughly check it over. Often garages will keep autos going for far longer than they would an equivalent manual, so they can be high mileage or have corrosion issues. Had a pretty bad Corsa in that regard which I did not enjoy driving as much as my Aygo.

There are almost no automatics available for that price, or weren't when a friend was looking last year. A working auto basically starts at £3k.
