Why did they remove my post?

Ah, the days when TVs pretended to be pieces of furniture! Looking back, it's hard to imagine we used to look so far down to watch TV instead of having it eye level!
camusclues@reddit
Mostly gone are the days of yelling at kids to move from in front of the TV.
SbIrish574@reddit
Mario for the W because I still play it .... duck hunt takes the W for when you play you play all day
Staran@reddit
I never played Nintendo. I was a Genesis player through and through. The games were 5 dollars cheaper and had a lot more content.
Nintendo games lasted the weekend.
root_fifth_octave@reddit
That did come out for years after, though.
Staran@reddit
100% but financially and immersivly, owning a genesis was better.
But Nintendo has more variety.
root_fifth_octave@reddit
Yeah, I enjoyed having one (even if mine mostly ended up being a Phantasy Star II machine, haha).
The games felt a lot closer to what was in the arcades at the time.

The one you don't have in your picture: the 2600.
Can I still come over later to watch some Betamax movies on that Curtis Mathes?
kentuckywildcats1986@reddit
This one right here. Bonus points if you had an Arcadia/Starpath Supercharger.
I kind of skipped over the NES generation. Too busy with life and work.
Jumped back in with the Sega Genesis, then the 3DO, then the PSX, PS2, XBox 360, PS4, and now PC and Quest 3 VR.
MangorTX@reddit
Laserdisc player on the left along with another top-loading VCR under it.
tvmediaguy@reddit
That vcr looks heavy.
MangorTX@reddit
Top-loading VCR. Still remember my friend's dad buying Caddyshack in the early 80s.
In my family's case, this is missing the portable tv sitting on top of the console when the console tv breaks.
root_fifth_octave@reddit
SMB. My real shit was Zelda and Metroid, though.
ArcanumAntares@reddit
Sweet 67lb VCR and quarter-ton console tv/hi-fi!
It only takes six people to deliver and move it into the den.
TheJokersChild@reddit
The heaviest color TV in the world...and darn well worth the hernia!
thedeuce75@reddit
Poorly drawn Mario just hit's different.
Far_Oven_3302@reddit
The VR parody, Duck Season, is very recommended. I use to spend hours on my NES blasting ducks back in the day. If you have access to VR, this one will send you back to nostalgia town.
daily_cup_of_joe@reddit
Damn yall were rich. 😂
ItsGotToMakeSense@reddit
Definitely SMB.
Duck Hunt was good for quick fun but it wasn't something you'd sit and play for hours.
SMB1 has not aged super well compared to later entries like SMB3 but at the time it was HYPE. I remember seeing a TV commercial for it and being so excited that you could move to the right and break blocks.
camusclues@reddit
WASTE time? Top Gun. I could never land on that fucking aircraft carrier.
Infamous-Musician953@reddit
May the gods curse that carrier…
monsterbot314@reddit
That fucking carrier!
AdhesiveSeaMonkey@reddit
Please, please, tell me this is a set up that is in use today - cabinet tv and all!!
Known_anonymously_as@reddit
Look at this NES ‘88 user. More time on SMB from ‘85, baby!
Acceptable_Trash_749@reddit
I had forgotten how low to the ground most TVs we grew up with were before they got flattened and we started hanging them on the wall.
Lord_Nurggle@reddit
Just need a couple of bowls of King Vitamin and thats basically a picture of my childhood
HCRanchuw@reddit
Neither. It was time well spent. But SMB by far.
Aezetyr@reddit
I would give my left nut for a living room set like that.
automator3000@reddit
SMB. I am pretty sure that the Christmas we got our NES, I didn’t move from my spot in front of the tv the whole day. Probably pissed myself.
I remember it really irritated my kid brother that SMB didn’t alternate between player one and player two, that as long as you didn’t die, it was forever your turn. And I was good at that game, so there’d be hour long stretches, then he’d get his turn and die without even finishing a level.
ob12_99@reddit
My back hurts looking at it
Charming-Lychee-9031@reddit
My grandparents had that exact television! I remember there being a little metal holster behind it to hold the remote control which actually uses sound instead of light to change the channels and volume
grin_ferno@reddit
If I could find one of these TVs still working for a reasonable cost I'd buy it!
subterfuscation@reddit
That old console brings back some memories. Hope it has an 8-track player.
Impressive-Yak-7449@reddit
I loved 'bowling' on my crappy RCA Studio II! It was outdated before it hit the market. Never had a real gaming system :'(
Katiecake80@reddit
Mario
Ok-Lingonberry-8261@reddit
Yes.
