hey guys i was just wondering if anyone could
give me some advice anything at all would be greatly appreciated. recently my Alienware r15 AMD PSU died and I’m in the process of just throwing my parts I already have into a new case. I was wondering if anyone could give me a recommendation of what CPU I should grab that would be an upgrade over my 7900x I love to play demanding games like arma reforger and arch raiders but I also love to play games like total war , broken arrow and warno and I have noticed my 7900x seems to struggle alittle with those games also what motherboard would recommend with the cpu

The 7900X as in the Ryzen 9 AM5 7900X? That's a perfectly fine CPU for gaming.

I went with a 7800x3d and it’s giving me Vastly better performance than I was getting with the 7900x in Warno, total war and broken arrow

So the a 7800x3d or a 9800x3d wouldn’t be really worth upgrading to ? Also what motherboard would you recommend

Any B850 board that isn't an ASRock board would be fine, so long as it has the features you need, e.g. onboard WiFi, color matching whatever case you get, stuff like that.

7900x should still be a great CPU.
If you want to go better do a 9800x3d.

Went with a 7800x3d and I’m getting vastly Better performance in Warno, broken arrow and the total war games I play. Wasn’t expecting such it to be this drastic

The 7900x is a powerful cpu.. the only thing you could get that would kinda make sense is a 7800x3d, 9800x3d and if you need more cores then a 9900x3d

Would motherboard would your recommend for the 9800x3d or just in general? I think I’m gonna keep the 7900x for now but would like the option to upgrade down the line

The great thing is that its just AM5. The only reason to upgrade your mb if you get a 9800x3d would be for the PCIe speed/RAM support (not really going to matter before AM6 unless maybe if you'd bought the cheapest a620 board you could find.). No real reason not to go with just a b650 chipset unless theres smth real specific you need.

gamers nexus benchmarks
To my surprise it looks like the 7800x3d beats out the intel equivalent even in such a cpu loaded game like TW war hammer . Looks like the choice is clear

Youre talking about building an entirely new pc at this point with a higher end x3D cpu. Your ROI trying to sell a used 7900x to upgrade is going to be abysmal despite it being one of the more powerful CPU’s out
