Anyone else notice a lot of unmarked police cars in Dallas lately?

I’ve seen at least 4 flat grey unmarked SUVs in the Lakewood area over the last few days.
Veronica612@reddit
I saw gray police cars in Lakewood last week, too, but I think they were Mustangs. The police logo is in a slightly darker shade of gray on the side of the car.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
Not just that, police presence has been seemingly increased all across DFW. It’s pretty obscene now. The city. The suburbs. All of it. I grew up here and I’ve never seen more speed traps, people pulled over, and patrols in DFW in my whole life.
I actually thought about making a post about it here. I read somewhere the Iran war had orders sent from the top to increase police presence nation wide or in big metroplex’s in fear of some sort of terrorist threat
oldmaninpdx@reddit
Never seen a need for speed traps as much as we need them now... 55 and 60 in 35 mph zones 50 past schools Passing school busses as kids are getting on and off.... And driving etiquette that is apparently no longer used while driving anywhere near Dallas-Fort Worth.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
Really? I mean valid that thats been your experience but I personally feel like I see waaaaay more people driving maddeningly stupidly dangerously slow and tepid
dogepope@reddit
I grew up here in Dallas. In East Dallas, the yuppies in white or black Volvos/BMWs are always tearing down residential streets at 45 mph or more to get to their pilates class or corporate event. If you're out walking or sharing the same public space, they don't acknowledge you unless you are one of them. If the economy tanks, a silver lining would be to see a lot of these people lose their McMansions and have to leave the neighborhood. Wishful thinking I know, but it's nice to dream.
Illustrious_Swing645@reddit
I for one welcome increased traffic laws enforcement. Too many people out here acting the fool without consequences
spacedman_spiff@reddit
Instead of catching redlight runners, they'll be citing you for going 39 in a 30.
ty944@reddit
39 in a 30 is absurd and should definitely get ticketed.
ExcuseMyCarry@reddit
I appreciate you being bold enough to say it. People have this weird entitlement to breaking the laws that they deem ok to break , while in the same breath they criticize people for breaking other laws.
AcceptableProduce296@reddit
Good! Jesus Christ is this how dumb we are getting?
icywing54@reddit
To be fair, that is quite a bit over the speed limit
oldmaninpdx@reddit
45 in a 30....., and 50 in a 30... I got one how about the guy doing 75 in a 35 trying to get his kids to school because he was running late. And redlight runners? Do you mean the ones on their phone that just don't see them/stop? The ones who slow and go if it looks clear? Or the 6 cars that go after the light turns red because they dont wanna be late....? For my money... ticket them all!
Arkhamguy123@reddit
It’s all about money and dominance not benevolent altruism
monolith_blue@reddit
Certainly it has nothing to with safety. Getting hit by a car going nine miles an hour over could never kill any kids, right? They can just rub some dirt on it, they're bouncy. Stupid government only wanting that fine money.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
This is a beyond terrible attempt at a retort. No offense I’m sure you’re a nice guy and all
Basically any car going at basically any speed could hurt or even kill someone. A car going at 10-15 could kill a kid. And there aren’t many kids playing catch at 9pm-2am at night in the suburbs on long stretching streets far outside neighborhoods. And there’s no kid Ive ever known of playing on freeways or service roads off freeways
If you think officers in speed traps are sitting there internally going “gotta protect the kids!” I question your intellect
monolith_blue@reddit
If you think officers are sitting there internally going "gotta make this money and assert my dominance" I don't need to question your intellect.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
The fact that you posted this without any irony is kind of horrifying honestly
Additionally the premise of “police officers get off on asserting dominance and the state wants money” is a more ridiculous premise to you than uhhh kids playing on belt line and Main Street in the dead of night makes it hard to take you seriously I’m sorry
monolith_blue@reddit
Seems your forgot your post. Here, I'll quote you for you.
"It’s all about money and dominance not benevolent altruism "
Arkhamguy123@reddit
…… yes and….?
I genuinely don’t understand your argument or what you’re even getting at?

IMO, both of these should lead to fines. Different severity of course.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
Yeah I don’t. Don’t fool yourself. It’s very naive to think traffic enforcement is about safety and not citation revenue. The street racers on 75 and the tollway ain’t gonna get caught.
They’re hiding on smaller roads trying to get petty violations that aren’t actually a danger for easy city hall $$$
LiterallyJohnny@reddit
The reason we even HAVE those speed racers are because they know that for the past DECADE (maybe even longer) law enforcement is barely present anywhere in the city. People here think they can do whatever.
Adultery@reddit
I drive around the burbs A LOT and rarely see cops. It’s actually a little disturbing how little I see cops.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
I disagree. And it’s a moot point because they’re not out on the big highways street racers… ya know, race on, 1/80th as much as they’re on regular roads. So what can we conclude from that?
AcceptableProduce296@reddit
You cant be serious....
downvotedcommentbot@reddit
Monkey's paw curls. You now have one cop always following you as soon as you leave your house and is ready to tag you specifically for going 2 over while everyone else swerves around you going 15 over.
Wonderful-Bite7007@reddit
More pigs doesn’t help anyone.
SimpleVegetable5715@reddit
It helps intimidate a bunch of regular people who might start to protest or organize.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
Yep
oldmaninpdx@reddit
I bet your the first one begging for a cop when the shit hits the fan....
frostysauce@reddit
Calling the cops is how people get shot.
Wonderful-Bite7007@reddit
Naw man. Why would I want someone with a gun and zero accountability to show up in an emergency. That’s fucking stupid.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
This
Arkhamguy123@reddit
Helps the town/state get more dollars out of the working classes pockets
Wonderful-Bite7007@reddit
Fair point. It helps capitalists and the pigs themselves.
avilae89@reddit
Must be nice. I’ve been calling the cops for the past three weeks since my neighbors love to shoot high-powered rifles in a residential area. Nothing, no call backs, zilch, no cops, nada.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
No easy revenue to extract from you = utter insouciance to your issue
avilae89@reddit
Exactly since I don’t know exactly what house it is. I just know it sounds like it’s outside of my window without definitive proof they cannot give a citation, which means that they’re not gonna show up cause it’s not worth their money…I mean time
AcceptableProduce296@reddit
Buddy. You can know the house. The dispatcher can hear the gunshots and they still show up 2 hours late and do fuck all....
Fit-Classic-9295@reddit
Probably because the department is working on a 35% shortage in one of the fastest growing cities IN THE WORLD.
ILoveTheObamas@reddit
How is this not a bigger story? What kind of rifles?
AffectionateKey7126@reddit
Because they’re lying.
AcceptableProduce296@reddit
When I lived close to fairpark I had several experiences like this. Holidays were nonstop gunfire at night. Cops dont give a shit. Am I lying too?
AffectionateKey7126@reddit
No because your story is believable. Morons love shooting off their guns during holidays. The same guy blasting his rifle in a neighborhood and nothing happening is not.
AcceptableProduce296@reddit
Haha its not just holidays. When I lived down there. My neighbor did it on a Thursday at 7pm. I had 911 on the phone the dispatcher heard him shooting the gun. Cops didnt show up for 2 hours. All they did was shine their flashlights on the house and then leave. Didn't even knock and confront the person.
AcceptableProduce296@reddit
Haha are you serious!?!?! If you live anywhere close to Fairpark its gunshots everynight. And holidays sound like a warzone. My neighbors were drunk blasting music and shooting off their guns into the woods at 7pm on a Thursday. Called 911 held the phone out for the dispatcher when they asked "are you sure its guns and not fireworks." As he proceeded to unload his whole magazine. You would think they would come in hot? Nope. 2 cops drove by 2 hours later and shined their lights on some houses. And that was the day I said "fuck this place."
avilae89@reddit
Idk I can’t see. I just know that shit wakes me up every Thurs-Sunday
James-the-Bond-one@reddit
A loud one.
AcceptableProduce296@reddit
Do you happen to live in between I-30 and scyene?
Mindless-Committee@reddit
You’d think that if there was a threat of terrorism the police would make a greater visible presence so as to thwart any kind of activity.
Having a bunch of hidden police out there is a reactive policy rather than proactive. It seems like hiding your defenses and appearing weak or lackadaisical would invite more terroristic attempts.
Idk.
No_Internal9345@reddit
world cup budget increase
Sauntering_Overlord@reddit
It’s because of Pooh shiesty😭
captainn_chunk@reddit
It’s end/start of the quarter lmao
Arkhamguy123@reddit
Is this actually why?
captainn_chunk@reddit
It’s a huge reason.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
I love that we just have a state approved gang with unlimited man made institutional power that we all just have to deal and contend with
VicePope@reddit
Yes dude! Driving from Denton to Justin I see at least 5 cops a day now one way.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
So glad it’s not just me
Also slightly unrelated but Denton cops are the fucking worst. Like any college town I suppose
VicePope@reddit
Really? I rarely ever see them because they don’t give a shit but MAN do the state troopers love the area around denton. Robson ranch is so bad i stopped going through the area in general after getting a ticket recently
SimpleVegetable5715@reddit
“Terrorists” as in citizens protesting, because we know how this administration defines people who speak up against them.
wgardenhire@reddit
This is most likely correct. It is known that Iran has sleeper cells throughout the U.S. and, without being told, we are currently on high alert.
Arkhamguy123@reddit
Yeah. Which is fair enough
Bubbly-Television-63@reddit
I live in Vickery Meadow, cops don’t come here… too much actual crime they’d need to address.
oldmaninpdx@reddit
If your not doing anything outside the law... why does it matter... believe it or not... they are not looking to "get you".... unless your breaking the law.
Funny_Application_22@reddit
Loud and wrong. Must be a boomer.
butstillthough@reddit
You might want to double check the stats on that one.
supavillan@reddit
Then why do innocent people hire lawyers ?
Coolj9114@reddit
With fifa coming they will be around the airports alot more, source? I work at the airport
Fit-Classic-9295@reddit
They’ll definitely increase around the airport
Mindless-Committee@reddit
It’s almost like this is this an election year? Rather than ward off crime, let’s present a weak police front almost as if to invite more criminal activity. Then catch more people in the act so numbers go up. Then you can brag about increased detentions and convictions.
frient1995@reddit
It’s because of the World Cup.
whoiscristi@reddit
I have also seen quite a few in Lakewood today.

FuelCrazy6019@reddit
I’ve been seeing soooo many of the grey unmarked ones lately too. And odd unmarked ones along with it.
tilli014@reddit
I have also noticed a higher police presence
supavillan@reddit
International eyes will be on Dallas Texas soon due to the world cup , pretty well documented that governments will fluff up security, violate unhomed people and give the city a land Lord special in order to look better on TV
Zestyclose-Finish778@reddit
The World Cup in Arlington*
longpenisofthelaw@reddit
I work with the homeless, dpd and surrounding suburbs have recently been busting up homeless camps at an increased rate and threatening homeless people with jail if they come back
Arkhamguy123@reddit
Oh yeah this is also a likely reason. I forgot about the WC this summer
PenelopeJude@reddit
Yeah, if you get on I-30 from Ash Ln (from Munger), stop completely at that stop sign (the one I always thought was a yield sign). Also, stop at the light (don’t go through yellow) at Ross/Central underpass. Cops have been at each giving tickets one after the other. I got one on first example.
James-the-Bond-one@reddit
It's a ritual of spring, it happens every year when the weather is good and they want to enjoy it a bit.
flubbrse@reddit
I just got a speeding ticket from one of these.
On one hand, it means less people going 50 in a 35 on royal
On the other hand, it means I can't go 50 in a 35 on royal
Either way the low speed limit is stupid on the giant 3 lane stroads. For some reason people keep buying the new houses on them, so we can't just increase the limit to what should be 45-55
jeff_jestis1981@reddit
It’s the feds. They’re here for your stash
Playful_East2737@reddit
They should patrol Mckee St right next to the DPD headquarters. Every cop goes the wrong way down that one way street to get to their parking garage. Called one of their piece of shit ‘officers’ out on it and they said “yeah, what are you gunna do? I enforce the law”. Hell, I watch people do donuts in the middle of Botham Jean, once again, a block away from the headquarter and they do Nothing!!! Dallas cops are useless. They are just out there collecting pay.
Think-Confusion9999@reddit
Grey Ford Explorers? yes I've seen a few already within the last couple weeks.
TheRealBadGate@reddit
yeah acab
