For a non-techy person, pls help me come up with supplies to build my own pc!

Hi! I am mostly a Mac girl but I’m wanting to build a pc for myself to use for light (v light) gaming, general internet usage, writing and just to have a full PC as opposed to a laptop.
My fiance is a techy person and will likely be building my PC, but I’d like to pick the parts so I can custom the look of it. I wanted to take some of the leg work off him and wanted to know if anyone here would help recommend things I need?
I think I could actually mostly leave the internal stuff to him, I’m just wondering for what I can pick for the external look of it, what you’d suggest? Where would be good places to look?
Off the top of my head I know I’d need like the outer shell, monitors, keyboard, mouse etc. but I’d really like to make it pink and cutesy for a relatively non-expensive amount.
I hope this is okay to ask here, I hope it doesn’t annoy anyone lol

With your budget, it'd be really hard to get a case in pink, you might be able to spray paint one though

If you're leaving the internal stuff to him, just have a browse for PC cases. There are all kinds, black, white, "fish tank" cases, microatx cases which are smaller (and often cheaper). If you want pink and cutesy a really interesting case that I'm a fan of is the Hyte X50. Then you can browse motherboards (when you/your fiance decide on a CPU) and graphics cards which are the next most visible components.

If you're just concerned about the appearance part, you have to decide on the size. ATX (big), MATX (medium), ITX (small).
Usually the smaller you go, the more expensive and limited your options are for motherboards, gpus, and power supplies.

You should head over to r/buildapcforme
You post the filled out questionnaire including your use case, budget, etc and you’ll have a half dozen complete builds to choose from and lots of advice

Always interesting to see what different people come up with for the same price

This is cool I’ve usually been the friend friends come to for their builds I might have to send them this way did t know this existed thank you!

What kind of games are you wanting to play?
changen@reddit
Google pink PC case. Find one in a style that you like. Leave the internal to your fiance.
If the case has a glass side panel and you want a pink GPU, look into Yeston. They sell pink/lavender GPUs.
For keyboards, I like nuphy. Customer support is good. They have a good selection of sizes and colors. Or you can get whatever mechanical keyboard and get a custom keycaps. Or you can get the pink starter kit from logitech. Just google pink keyboard and mouse and it should pop up for 20$ lol.
(high quality) Monitors are rarely pink, so you will probably have to get a white one, or pay extra (and a worse monitor) if you have to get a pink one.

What's your total budget? Where do you live?
Gone_girl09@reddit (OP)
I live in FL! A friend told me a decent build would cost me around $800-1k so we are aiming around that 1k mark. I have to save a little but I wanted to get ideas :)
egworl@reddit
lowkey buy a prebuilt at that price point, most custom built pcs are gonna be over ur budget
TechnoGMNG589@reddit
1k would be around the low end but itll still work fine.

This build costs 1100USD with a monitor included. Has RGB,16GB of RAM and can play AAA(heavy games) at medium-high settings with high FPS.
This will be perfect for your use case. or is 1K a hard limit?
No-Repordt@reddit
I'd say look into sizing and color options. That will generally have the biggest impact on the cost besides the more techy components like the CPU and GPU
Figure out if you want a:
full-size PC (usually called Full-Size ATX, very big and bulky, but can fit a lot of drives and has lots of room for when you're putting the parts in and upgrading later),
mid-size (mid ATX, still big enough for all the stuff you need for PC gaming, but takes a lot less desk space),
or a small (micro-ATX or mATX, very small but can still work, assuming you can get all the parts to fit in the tiny case).
After you've found out what size, I'd look through some brands and see which has the aesthetic you like best. For full, I personally like NZXT, and Corsair has some great mid-size cases. Then just try to find ones in the color you like.

Don't build a pc yet until prices drop.
HayesBrewery@reddit
I wouldn't try to "take"anything off him on this. If my girl suddenly became interested in building a PC I would be all about that. Lol he is probably enjoying it. 😂

for a lower budget of $1k you can source decent parts from ebay and fb marketplace if those are options. with the current state of chip prices, finding parts at or near normal msrp might be tough, i saw another comment with a parts list, using that you can ask your fiancée about any parts you find on ebay or market and he’ll know what’s good and what’s junk. happy hunting.
RikiRude@reddit
I think it would help if you edit your original post and add in your budget, the type of games you're looking to play.
The difference in parts price will depend on if you want to play say, Stardew Valley, as opposed to say Fortnite or if you wanted to play Resident Evil 9.
Also would be helpful to know how big of a monitor you were thinking, 24, 27, 32? If you want high refresh rate or 1080 vs 1440p.
Also welcome to the PC world!
halfofwhat@reddit
You should just use your 1k to get a dock for your laptop and fancy peripherals. You can do all the things you said you wanted to do on the laptop so you'd basically just end up buying a junky pc with no money left over for the beautification.

Florida ? I think there is a microcenter store in Miami, goes to microcenter.com and look for case, mouse, keyboard.... etc choose Your Store as Florida so it shows correct inventory
TheDanimator@reddit
What sort of games are you interested in? Do you want something that can run high end games or something for like fortnite? Lol
SellsWhiteStuff@reddit
I also love Mac Miller.

Budget?

About 1k is my saving goal!

Case and RGB selection is ENTIRELY subjective. I can show you what I like but it might not be what you like.
It is probably the only thing that a technical community like this can't help you with
