Locally Famous MK Characters

Was having a chat with my workmates and we’re keen to find out all the legendary local characters from Milton Keynes and if there are any funny (but nice!) stories about them.
We’re thinking of legends like Wolfie (RIP), Dog Man, the man in white and of course, Spit Boy. But MK has so many more colourful characters! Who do you see all the time up and around MK etc?
Dry-Worth-7391@reddit
The Asian man with the funky hair in EE in MK centre
Nimble_Natu177@reddit
Obligatory Wolverton Tesco Trolley Man mention.
I've heard he's told his stories on stage at The Craufurd Arms before, I'd love to see him in action in that environment.
Successful-Piece1564@reddit
the one that usually talks to himself
rolfeadog@reddit (OP)
Adding to him from Craufurd. A guy we would call Little Prince. Looks like a short version of Prince and sang a song about a brain in a jar.
Pitiful-Confection56@reddit
That's Ian
Lower_Helicopter_742@reddit
Prince was like 3ft 9.
Cinxia@reddit
I won't dox him by giving out his real name, but I've known the Baron for 25+ years. He's my brothers friend. Honestly a sweet guy who pours his heart into his performances at the Craurford. I've seen him eating jelly brains out of a zombie on several occasions. He was the warm up act for a Rob Zombie cover band last year. Way to go him.
witchygypsy24@reddit
Love this guy so much! Brightens my day every time I see him at Tesco!
Suspicious-Pie3658@reddit
He plays at Crauf's open mic on Wednesdays. Puts on a right show with his covers!
GreenAmigo@reddit
Ok what times that start
Nimble_Natu177@reddit
That's what I'm thinking of, sensational!
FinchMandala@reddit
He's called The Baron and he's an amazing kind dude!
Gloomy_Bar_5055@reddit
Guy is a legend, had a whole convo with him about whether zombies ate brains or brians
DragonWolfZ@reddit
Affectionately known as the "Mad Hatter of Tesco's car park" in my family
fatboyfat1981@reddit
Same chap that used to work at Cineworld- normally got a hat on?
cflyssy@reddit
Anyone see the woman who sometimes flamboyantly directs traffic outside the station? It was only when I drove past that I realised she was wearing a MAGA hat.
I don't know if she works at the station or just fancies waving her arms around sometimes.
Pitiful-Confection56@reddit
Haha she's not employed I don't think. She just loves taxis. Been doing it since I was a kid. She chased my mate out of subway with a pocket knife in like 2007 🤣🤣. Think her names shelly possibly
Pitiful-Confection56@reddit
Haha the matrix couple
fuzzbook@reddit
Who remembers Back To Front Fred? Always used to walk inside out. Took me years to figure out how he was actually doing it!
Dull_Hawk9416@reddit
I’ve lived here for 20 years and never heard of any of them. But I would love to here the Spit Boy lore
Suspicious-Pie3658@reddit
Wolfie used to be the homeless man that would sell the big issue in a leopard print coat. He loved MK Dons so much that he tattooed them on his forehead, sadly passed away. Was a good soul. Dog man is the random guy that walk around with a pack of dogs, like 15 - 20 of them.
fuzzbook@reddit
Didn't they give Wolfie a season ticket and then he started shouting racist stuff so they took it off him ? Dunno if that's true but that's what I heard.
Dull_Hawk9416@reddit
Ok, I actually know dog man then. Always amazed at his dogs
123456654321999@reddit
Can't miss the lad in white, always doing laps around the city
GNARSHEN@reddit
If it's the same guy my friends always spoke about then he used to ask people (including teens) to spit on him/in his mouth and sometimes he'd offer some coins as compensation. Disgusting in multiple ways.
Dull_Hawk9416@reddit
I really don’t want to give this an upvote 🤢

Centre:MK people that I'd see every day were (my own nicknames):
The Twins - two guys that would do laps of Centre:MK every morning, both beared and with walking aids, always seen together, don't think they are actually twins.
Raspberry Santa - chap with a limp who blows raspberries as he hobbles along.
Secret Agents: two people who would sit on a bench a seat apart from eachother, dark sunglasses, packet of cigarettes and other items neatly laid out between them, always looking straight ahead.
I'm sure there were a few more but I moved away 4 years ago and have probably forgotten some.
Cinxia@reddit
I've seen Raspberry Santa ! Spot on description. I do know that he sometimes has the tendency to shit his pants up there too
getsmokes@reddit
the secret agents! I always thought MIB vibes.
Lower_Helicopter_742@reddit
Anyone remember Mackeys Cafe?
I left MK 20 years ago but this place deserves at least a footnote.
soovertrying@reddit
There was also Sam (I think?), an old guy in Stony, who used to walk around shouting.
they-never-learn@reddit
One hand always holding his trousers up. Legend.
Chemical-Lettuce2497@reddit
Is dog man still about? Presumably the guy that would always be walking around with 10+ dogs lol?
soovertrying@reddit
Who remember Marcus from CMK, often outside of McDonald’s waaay back when like early noughties? There were always rumours he drove off in a BMW each day after begging and terrorising the shop staff.
soovertrying@reddit
Realise on reflection that some of the stories for Marcus are not nice or funny, but I’ll leave it here incase anyone wants to dispute this!
skinnygrave@reddit
I knew him. He definitely did not drive a BMW. He died about 2 years ago. The details are not pleasant. Sad story.
soovertrying@reddit
Ah that’s sad to hear, I’m sorry for your loss
Lower_Helicopter_742@reddit
He always wanted 20p for the phone.
He was how I learned what crack was. The 90's were wild.
imagudspellar@reddit
Marcus, black fella used to ask everyone for 20p so he could use the payphone outside CMK Maccies, was around in the 90’s early 2k. Also many moons ago there used to be a guy called Singing Sam who lived in Stony Stratford, He used to pace up and down the high street singing at the top of his voice happy as Larry! used to scare the fuck out of me as a kid. Old heads might remember these 2.
beolens@reddit
My other half just mentioned Sam when I mentioned this thread, san gChristmas songs all year round.
Ndl1800@reddit
We used to see a lad that we called "The Victorian Gentleman". He had a moustache and would usually be wearing a three piece suit with a pocket watch. My mate swore he saw him in a full safari suit complete with pith helmet but I'm sure that was made up!
There was also a guy that we called "The Wolverton Cowboy" who usually wore a leather vest and cowboy hat with his phone in a leather holster on his belt. Occasionally saw him at the bar at the Crauf or around Wolverton but haven't seen him in a while.
pabloq@reddit
There was a guy who used to slowly jog around North MK wearing a big coat and running tights. I used to see him in the Giffard Park Tesco getting a coffee and a small bottle of whisky. I haven't seen him since COVID.
Jed as mentioned in this post has slowed down to glacial pace. I heard that he found a huge amount of cash and handed it to the Police and they 'rewarded' him with a mattress. Cunts.
Used to see Patman selling the Big Issue every Thursday near M&S back in the day and down at the train station in the evening. A very nice guy.
Nice to see the Secret Agents get a mention. I thought it was only me who ever saw them....!
Kid_Kimura@reddit
Dancing Ian!
Easy-Dress8602@reddit
Anyone know what happened to him?
ComprehensiveUse8757@reddit
Saw him up the city the other day - still rocks headphones!
ComprehensiveUse8757@reddit
Came here to say Dancing Ian! THE most famous MK character surely
rosielouisej@reddit
omg dancing ian!!
soovertrying@reddit
What a blast from the past. Dancing Ian was my fave early-mid noughties MK character! 🎧
AvadaBalaclava@reddit
Never seen twice in the same outfit
Br0kenCompass@reddit
I remember a woman from the 90s/00s called Shirley. She use to tell me how she got married to her husband Robert in Woolies and she would always ask for cigarettes as I walked to school. If you didn’t have any she would get mad at you.
Lower_Helicopter_742@reddit
Back in the late 90's there was the legendary Patman.
He was a MS sufferer who used to drive round in his wheelchair smoking spliffs. Top fella.
RIP Patman. I'm sorry life want fair to you.
Giorno_Giomama@reddit
My brother and his friends used to find this old man walking around MK from time to time. He wore a purple robe and hat and had a long white beard. We'd call him the "wizard of MK". Haven't seen him in ages.
SolidAcanthisitta278@reddit
Is Dog man still around?
OK_Cake05@reddit
Yeah haven’t seen him in ages! How many in white keeps his clothes so white is a mystery
Acidbluesboyyy@reddit
Wait was he an older man all dressed in white? I used to see a guy like that at Euston station a lot many years ago
alittlehalloween@reddit
Honourable Newport Pagnell mention of Jed
Suspicious-Pie3658@reddit
Who's Jed?
alittlehalloween@reddit
He’s always up the town, everywhere you go. Big talk bloke with ankle swingers. One time the kicthen door of the Indian opened and he was even in there.
TheBoyNabs@reddit
Dude has slowed down these days. Walking with the aid of a zimmer frame.
SunnySquash@reddit
Scariest bloke in town
EnigmaMK85@reddit
Bush man from Newport Pagnell. Recently died. Saw hi and drinking a guiness in the pub once with a sprig of rosemary in. He told me it stopped the poison that people kept trying to assassinate him with!
jo-mk@reddit
White tracksuit man!! Always walking quickly, never harmed a soul.
oalfonso@reddit
I have seen the dog man and the man in white. Man in white was living on a tent in a H6 underpass.
Loud_Narwhal7721@reddit
Just walked through centre MK and saw the man in white taking a nap! I’ve never seen that man stop, besides for a quick game of chess at the guest services lol
Suspicious-Pie3658@reddit
I'll never forget the blind man with the sick that walked round Bletchley. Apz he used to see by echolocation?
