Feed me your country’s weird guitars (and adjacent noises)

Hello,

I’m on a small quest to map what’s going on musically across the Balkans (and beyond), preferably through distorted guitars, bad decisions, and questionable aesthetics.

I mostly orbit around rock in the widest possible sense: psych, prog, punk, metal, and every “post-” mutation that came after.

Not really into turbo-folk (no offense, just not my thing) and dance music mostly leaves me cold. Everything else is fair game.

Task: give me \~5 bands/artists from your country.

If you’re from former Yugoslavia: feel free to go a bit obscure, I know some of the canon (except Kosovo, where I’m basically clueless).

If you’re from elsewhere: go as basic or as deep as you want, I’m starting from zero anyway.

To give you an idea where I’m at:

Canonical checkpoint:

- Buldožer

- Pankrti

- Videosex

- Laibach

- Siddharta

Slightly off the main road:

- Begnagrad

- Niet

- Borghesia

- Silence

- Čompe

I’m especially interested in stuff that sits a bit sideways:

awkward, hybrid, too arty, too dumb, too intense, not quite fitting anywhere.

Surprise me.
