Stardustquarks@reddit
It was just Apple Jacks imo
Joosecaboose@reddit
So, did anyone else get merciless farts from eating too many bowls of this delicious cereal?
Beetso@reddit
Listen to the sound of a whole new oh! New Apple Cinnamon Cheerios! Yeah, I remember.
Jeanviton@reddit
Nostalgia activated.
Ok-Table-3774@reddit
omg yessss! This was my go-to meal right after school growing up.
fuelvolts@reddit
I miss this so much. They released Cinnamon Cheerios a little while back and it aaaaaalllllmost scratches that itch, but didn't have the textured apple bits. Someday they will re-release it.
Icy-Lifeguard-6206@reddit
Oh man, I have a story.
So we were pretty poor growing up and often had to get food from the food bank. One of the things that they always had was Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, and they were one of my favorites.
I got up one Saturday morning early as a 13 year old, and as was my custom, I poured myself a bowl of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, added some milk, and scarfed down the bowl, all in the 6am light of the sun to avoid waking anybody else up by turning on a light. I always had milk leftover, and I would pour more cereal into the bowl to help soak up the milk. After eating about 1.5 bowls of cereal, I went to our basement to watch Saturday morning cartoons, starting with the show I only watched because it was on: The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.
A few hours later, I hear footsteps above me indicating that the rest of my family had woken up and were starting to go to the dining room to eat breakfast. It was maybe 5 minutes after the footsteps that I heard one of my younger siblings SCREAMING. I run upstairs to see what was going on, and they're screaming and pointing to their bowl of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, where there are 4 or 5 mealworms crawling around her bowl.
Needless to say, I refused to eat Apple Cinnamon Cheerios ever again. I didn't even realized that they had stopped making them.
sthef2020@reddit
One of the biggest examples of it not just being nostalgia, but some things legitimately just being better made back then.
Look at the Os on that box. Legit little dried apple bits on every Cheerio. My neighbor at the time was a General Mills distributor, and gave my family a pre-release box to try. It was delicious.
SurlySuz@reddit
Can still get it, but it’s nowhere near as good as it was back in the day.
Superdad75@reddit
Nothing is, "enshittification" has taken hold of every aspect of our lives. All in the name of higher profit margins.
SurlySuz@reddit
So very true. It’s demoralizing
Impressive-Record839@reddit
I'm certain that photo is doctored and I think there was even a message saying so on the box. They still make these
guntheroac@reddit
I’m going to find, and buy a box. I haven’t eaten them since like ‘99 😂 I remember them being bumpy, and extremely delicious.
anniemdi@reddit
Most breakfast cereals simply do not taste the same because of the addition of whole grains and less sugar. For Cheerios, they absolutely can still fuck that up (rest in peace my beloved Multi-Grain Cheerios, gluten-free ones were vile.) Apple Cinnamon Cheerios were a solid favorite of mine and I can't remember if I stopped eating them because they changed or because I stopped being able to find them.
butterbean8686@reddit
They still make Multi-Grain Cheerios. I have a Costco-sized box in my pantry.
sthef2020@reddit
Nope. What you see on that box is quite literally what they used to be.
The current Apple Cinn Cheerios recipe is completely different and relies on fake apple flavoring in the grains they make the Cheerios out of. Back at launch, they were genuinely coated in like little dried apple pieces, like you might find in Quaker oat meal. Made for a different texture when chewing, and were much better taste wise than the version currently on store shelves.
dumpsterfiremktg@reddit
Indeed. Flavor was so powerful it was one of those cereals where one bowl was enough. The added sensation of micro cuts to the roof of your mouth from the rabid chewing of OG Cinns perhaps played a part in that.
Delta632@reddit
I had to google it and you’re damn right they do make these currently.
Ambitious_Jelly8783@reddit
Dod you wvery try it with warm milk? Amazing.
atl2rva@reddit
Did anyone else used to get those small boxes of cereal samples with the Sunday paper? Used to take those to school with me and pour milk in and eat right out of the box.
caramelpupcorn@reddit
I've never tried them but I still remember the TV jingle for this cereal to this day.
shmehdit@reddit
"Listen... to the sound... of a whole 'nother OoOoOOOO..." (from decades-old memory, could be a bit off)
ListeningForAnswers@reddit
I’m glad I’m not the only one who heard that exact line in my head as soon as I saw the picture 😊
ADM_Orange@reddit
Your memory did not fail you! I can still hear the jingle.
jadziads9@reddit
I can hear the scratching sounds
caramelpupcorn@reddit
Yes! Granted, I had my own possible misheard version of the lyrics:
Listen ~ to the sound ~ of the whole apple OooO!
SnickersDickVein@reddit
Apple cinnamon…cheer-ee-Os!
caramelpupcorn@reddit
I literally sing that part out loud constantly!
Jorithel@reddit
It still exists, but it will give you the shits like you wouldn't believe.
onwardtomanagua@reddit
These were delicious!
ONROSREPUS@reddit
Huh. I do remember these and I do remember liking them. Surprised they haven't came back with this flavor again.
Spiritual-Promise402@reddit
Omg i forgot about these! We splurged when we bought s box of apple cinnamon Cheerios. When we couldn't afford it anymore i tried making my own. We always had the plain Cheerios, so i chopped up apes really small and doused the cereal in honey and cinnamon. Came out so good!

ChesterCopp@reddit
Anyone remember this cereal by GM called Big Mix?
ChesterCopp@reddit
Man this cereal was great.
_haha_oh_wow_@reddit
Why did they stop making this? It was great!
quickstop_rstvideo@reddit
My great uncle ran General Mills cereal division in the 80/90s, so my Grandma got lots of free cereal, some before they came out. I remember trying this around the holidays and being excited when we could finally by it a few months later.
GodOfPopTarts@reddit
Holy crap these were great. Hard not to eat the entire box.
creddittor216@reddit
I haven’t thought about these in years. Why did they stop making them?!
Canyon_Cruiser@reddit
They still make this but it’s not even close to how it tasted back then
i_is_smart@reddit
how is the taste different? I recall these being heavily cinnamoned, sweet, and apple tasting.
reddrage_nyan@reddit
Its still sold in Canada, I buy it every so often
agent_scully2084@reddit
It's still available Canada. I buy it frequently.
Competition-Dapper@reddit
I am shocked too. I can tell by the scribbled apple graphic it was around the time married with children was on tv still since I’ve had it haha
ErnieBochII@reddit
I was going to put these around 1989…
Competition-Dapper@reddit
Yeah, I agree, I’d go with something like 89-96
creddittor216@reddit
I love that I know exactly what you mean regarding the scribbled graphic 😂
DrewBaron80@reddit
Cereal and milk made up somewhere around 25% of my entire diet between the ages of 10 and 20, and this was definitely one I enjoyed.
Baroque1123@reddit
Blast from the past!
MlsterFlster@reddit
How often is this person having a conversation specifically about apple cinnamon cereal?
BlueBomber13@reddit
Back when food was actually food and not ultra processed chemicals
Micronto65bymay@reddit
Oh fuck.
That was fire. I hate the time we live in now.
hjeff51@reddit
I miss those apple chunks
rosephoenix19@reddit
When I was younger I was a weird kid and I actually liked some of these "healthier cereals". Corn flakes, Cheerios, cracklin oat bran. My dad always thought I was weird but I really enjoyed some of them.
TheTerribleTimmyCat@reddit
Delicious indeed, but for me the heartburn afterward was always immediate and merciless.
Prior-Ad-2196@reddit
It was like sandpaper on your palate.
Environmental_Sail54@reddit
Yeah I was looking through the comments and wondering if I was the only person who ever got scrapes in the top of my mouth from these. Also I swear one of the dehydrated apples or whatever it is they use in these got lodged in the roof of my mouth a few times. And I had to work them out with my tongue. Never stop me from eating them though.
Prior-Ad-2196@reddit
Yes they were painful but I loved em! Lol
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
They weren't the same after this box
gertrudeblythe@reddit
My parents weren’t the best with feeding us (weird no snack people), and I guess these were on a big sale the summer I was 13. I had to eat so much of this that I absolutely do not have fond memories of it.
grousewood-games@reddit
My mom would get the Apple Cinnamon Cruncharoos, which were pretty damn tasty as well.
crazy_sexy_keto@reddit
💚
SteakJones@reddit
Peak 90’s box design.
ChicagoRex@reddit
This cereal box gave me a strong feeling of nostalgia. I felt like I was in high school.
IYFS88@reddit
Oh wow, yeah these were good. Love the packaging design too.
Philly_3D@reddit
Those were so money!
I loved that the holes were sometimes filled with the apple cinnamon... stuff (i guess).
caramelpupcorn@reddit
Apple cinnamon belly button lint 🍎
maxdamage4@reddit
Good lord hahahaha
SweetCosmicPope@reddit
Apple cinnamon…CHEERIOS! ting!
Jade_Miller_official@reddit
RIP Apple cinnamon Chex
Sad_Training_1595@reddit
This and count chocula.
Repulsive-Studio-120@reddit
THAT SHIT SLAPS 👏
This-Fun1714@reddit
Hell yes! I had to beg my mom for real 2% milk whenever i got these--powdered skin milk just didn't cut it. That was one happy lil boy.
Lakota-36@reddit
These were better for sure
fromthedarqwaves@reddit
A 20oz box! Those boxes back then were huge. Nowadays they’re about an inch deep and 9-10oz.
cat_at_the_keyboard@reddit
And $7 for that tiny ass box
HourCoat2766@reddit
💯
PapaTua@reddit
I can taste these perfectly in my mind.
QiwiLisolet@reddit
Yo multigrain cheerios tasted different too
anniemdi@reddit
It's because they're gluten-free now, they took out the gluten grains and replaced them with whatever doesn't have gluten and tastes terrible. For a long while I was buying Kroger Brand but I don't even know if they skill have those as cereal's just wayyyy too much for not enough sustenance.
hellofromtucson@reddit
My absolute favorite growing up.
Arriwyn@reddit
These were my favorite! My mom would not buy the sugar laiden kids cereals, no Lucky Charms, Captain Crunch, fruit loops, frosted flakes, Coco Crisps, Smacks. Too much sugar, and she was right! This was one of the few good cereals she would buy. Lol
ExpensiveWords4u@reddit
I miss them 🥺
TacoNomad@reddit
I kinda hate that you reminded me. I forgot this was a thing. It was definitely a favorite
Eikthyrnir13@reddit
So. Good.
Responsible-Fox-1985@reddit
It’s a baked-in taste
theforestbather@reddit
You can still get these in Canada. Maybe they're made differently now? I haven't had them in ages, so I wouldn't know. Are they not available elsewhere? I had no idea.
gummi-demilo@reddit
My mom’s friend worked for General Mills so I got to try both this and Squeezits before they were officially released
RegularLove8679@reddit
These were delicious!
texasipguru@reddit
ugh this was so good
Status_Jump_2496@reddit
Tasted so good but gave me diarrhea every time I ate it.
No9No9No9No9@reddit
🎶Listen to the sound.. of a whole 'nother O! New Apple Cinnamon, Cheerios! Oh oh oh oh, Cheerios, The one and only Cheerios 🎶
Rent free in my head since the 90s
Cpt_Dru_Dix@reddit
My mouth is watering. Love these
firstlight777@reddit
Yeah this was fire cereal.
QiwiLisolet@reddit
Enshitification
ScarecrowZombie1@reddit
I only had these a couple times but they're on par with Honey nut Cheerios
crackedtooth163@reddit
I LOVED IT WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT
S_A_R_K@reddit
A is for apple, J is for jacks
5ladyfingersofdeath@reddit
These were basically Apple Jacks for the refined & bougie
DiscoNY25@reddit
I remember apple cinnamon cheerios cereal.
kevlar51@reddit
Most flavored Cheerios these days are some weird compound completely unrelated to regular Cheerios. They are gross and get stuck in my teeth.
SweetPrism@reddit
Multi grain were my shit. Anyone else remember the Temu Wilson Phillipps singing in the commercial for them?
LuckyGoose1232@reddit
That was the shit back in the day!
Acceptable_Class_576@reddit
These were amazing.
Deep-Ad4351@reddit
This picture made my brain salivate
Munchkin531@reddit
Mmhhmm these were so good! I miss them; they were way better than Honey nut Cherrios.
My go-to cereal is Oh's now.
Same-Manufacturer773@reddit
We’ve all been chasing this dragon. I don’t fux with cereal anymore. This one and cocoa krispies were my jam. CKs taste chemically now.
frankensundae@reddit
This and Oh’s were my faves.
LeoDavinciAgain@reddit
I ate so much of these that this image makes me nauseous
threebeansalads@reddit
Yea the new ones don’t taste like this anymore. It’s like cocoa pebbles. I want the roof scrape pebbles none of these special k flakes
OkBaconBurger@reddit
My mom never let us eat sugar cereals but when this crack in a box was released she bought it ALL the time.
Fair_Blood3176@reddit
One of the best cereals bar none.
Ok_Breakfast5425@reddit
Mighty good cereal rings, Mrs. McDonough

I was just thinking about this the other day.
Mornings became awesome for a little while when this came out.
