Nitroglycerin gun primer

This crazy idea is to use nitroglycerin instead of lead styphnate as gun primer.
It might need to be diluted with a bit of acetone or alcohol to make it no more sensitive than traditional gun primer.

Ok.. Why?

Why not?
This is the right subreddit for crazy ideas, isn't it?
More seriously, when nitro burns or explodes, it produces co2 and H2O and n2.
When lead styphnate burns, it produces those same chemicals, plus nitrous oxide, and lead oxide.

So the more cost-effictive way is...?

It's not about price, but toxicity.
That said, nitroglycerin is almost certainly less expensive than other lead-free gun primers.
Cheaper than lead styphnate?
It would depend on whether it was mass produced, i expect.

To fire the whole bullet casing and all.

But then your bullets would have liquid in them.

Just replace the gun with nitroglycerin too while you’re at it, it will be safer since there’s no shrapnel to get in your wye

More fun would be to drain all the oil out of a car's engine and replace it with nitroglycerin.
