Companies should pay employees to play video games during work hours

This could actually boost productivity because gamers are already skilled at focus and time management, and a break to play games might help them come back to their actual work with fresh eyes and a clearer mind. It's weird but it might just work because so many jobs already involve staring at screens all day anyway.

Some of them do.

This the kinda shit your 15 year old nephew sends you after a week of working

This is called a break and you’re usually free to play video games during it if you can manage to
theblackfool@reddit
You think gamers are skilled at time management?
virt111@reddit
No. Most gamers wont gain any true real life skills from games. Maybe if you play games like Factorio or Eve Online (excel) doing industry, it might "boost" your brain to be more active.

How about an even more novel idea, they have you several breaks every day to do whatever you want? Maybe like 15 minutes before lunch, 30-60 minutes for lunch and another 15 minutes later in the day? And you can do pretty much whatever you want during this time?

Companies would just hire employees ALREADY skilled at focus and time management.

LOL. You think this is true?
Some maybe, but many lose track of time playing games.

This is already being done. Players are actually paid to game. Mostly testing Beta's but even pre-release games. These guys are not your everyday gamer and are usually game-coders. Still.. Love me some gaming, once played 70hrs non-stop in my day. Imagine playing a game for 14hrs a day, 7 days a week..

Become a game tester.
