My co-worker of SE Asian descent pronounces it like "Cloud". It really threw us off the first time he started talking about using "Cloud" to help with whatever it was we were talking about.

No need for it to be made publicly available. If research groups released some of the critical technology they have built it would enable things that would create true horror and chaos for the masses with no way to put the genie back in the bottle. Just because you can do something does not mean you should.
