Making first build with $2750 budget
Lmk and be brutally honest
Puzzleheaded-West159@reddit
No, build is ok.
RAM: Changed to 32 GB, which is a lot better and i think necessary.
Mobo: Better Mobo, almost no cost difference.
SSD: your SSD price difference, saved like $500 on ssd alone.
GPU: Changed GPU to 9070 XT, alot better imo. If you need Nvidia, I recommend you get cheapest 5070 Ti.
Case: Switched to a smaller lighter m-ATX case.
TLDR: Mainly cut the money on the SSD which is crazy, and got you 32 gb of ram, and a much better gpu and still saved $350. If you need to switch to 5070Ti, it will still be about the same as your build. PCPartPicker Part List

Are branded components not all much different than the lesser-known companies? I'm very much affected by consumerism so I was thinking branded would ensure quality and reliability.
Puzzleheaded-West159@reddit
You will see almost no difference in the performance - save the $500.
Samsung is known for making consumers pay for a premium, they are good, but a lot of other companies are decent enough and you'll barely see any difference.
The only parts I remotely care about brands is PSU and motherboards - and that is mainly models from certain brands, because there are certain good ones.

Ah okay. Thank you!
aminy23@reddit
Yes: * AsRock + Ryzen 9000 = literally cooks * 9800X3D + 5070 = unbalanced for 90+% of games/settings * 16GB CL40 in a $2,500 PC - I'd say that's cooked * PCIe 4 NVMe SSD with DRAM cache - wise 6 months ago, not today though when you can get PCIe 5 with better DRAM cache for hundreds LESS:

My take for that budget:

Thank you very much!

First question no one is asking here...do you have access to Microcenter? Because they are much cheaper for almost everything you listed, and I put together some builds in this forum on there lately that were better parts for same money or less.
I could get you to 32GB of RAM, go to a 9070XT, go X870E on the motherboard into of B650, get a better power supply, go watercooled....and still beat that price by almost $1000.
rxdmg@reddit (OP)
I am canadian, unfortunately even if I did have access to it I would have to factor in currency conversion as well as shipping and customs. Would most likely increase overall price by a large margin.
PokerLawyer75@reddit
Sorry, when I clicked, I missed the ca. part of the URL.
StunningPush8421@reddit
What is it for?
2.75k cad is 2k usd and IK that for 2k usd that isn't a great build but im guessing prices are worse in canada.

Drop the R7 9800X3D to an R5 7600, otherwise this is a $3000 PC instead of $2700.
16GB of slow RAM, massively overpriced SSD. Money saved on the SSD will afford you a 2x16GB 6000 CL30 kit.
RTX 5070 at $1000 is terrible, RX 9070 XT is available for that much.
ASRock motherboards have a bad repuation with X3D CPU's. No need to risk it.
You can spend slightly less on the case and PSU without sacrificing any quality.

9070 XTs can be found under $900 now.
DZCreeper@reddit
Good point, I forgot about this 9070 XT + PSU bundle for 1000 CAD.

I've been pushing MicroCenter because you get some crazy crazy deals.
How about an X870E MSI mothjerboard, 9800X3D, and 32GB Corsair DD5-6000 for $730? you're basically getting the motherboard for free effectively...or the eRAM for free.
Or a Radeon 9700XT 16GB for $739? Let's get more VRAM and better 4K support than a 5070TI....for almost $500 less. Raytracing is the only thing that the 5070 wins on, and that's not as needed in games as people make it out to be.
For the money svaed, he can go to the Montech King, which includes the fans that aren't in the one he picked. And he can go AIO watercooling on the CPU (once you do that, you never really go back to air cooling, because it's so much quieter).
DZCreeper@reddit
OP is Canadian, no Microcenter bundles.
Agree to disagree on the AIO. Air cooling is quieter at low to moderate loads and more reliable. I would only use an AIO for something like a 9950X or 270K that will be running over 200 watts regularly.
Retnirpa@reddit
Lol I wonder why the 990 pro 2TB showing $874.97.. Rampacolypse can't be that bad can it?

Oh my. $900 for a 5070 is insane. I got my 5080 for $950 2 months ago. It can’t be that bad
DZCreeper@reddit
OP is using CAD. 900 for a 5070 is still bad, but the 5080 is 1800-2000 CAD.

Oh the horror… we had the gpu crisis, then 2yrs of peace and now we have the memory famine effecting everything

I think something like this would be much better

drop down to a 7800x3d, u can spend the extra if u want on a 9800x3d this build left some room for personal taste. as for the motherboard there is a really good sale on the Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX V2 which has good IO and a large VRM so it can handle just about any CPU u might upgrade to later. And there is no reason to be getting 16gbs of RAM right now when u can easily fit 32gbs in here with a budget like that.
As for the SSD the 990pro prices just went up I swapped it for the NV5000 from Teamgroup a top tier SSD with a DRAM for that smooth windows experience, and while I was looking I found a great deal on a 1000w PSU which is more than u need but it gives u lots of room for upgrades later, lastly I topped it off with a 9070XT a top of the line card capable of playing any game at any resolution with comfortable FPS.
I like the value of that case so I kept it in, I hope this helps
Deleted_252@reddit
First, that cooler is great and all but not great for the 9800x3d. Get at least a 240mm AIO with a 360mm being the best — trust me on this one
Next, you can save money by choosing an AMD gpu instead of Nvidia. For example a 5070 equivalent would be the 9070xt or 9070.
You don’t need a 2TB drive unless you will be storing a ton of high resolution videos and pictures. 1TB is enough for 8 modern games with 2TB getting you enough storage for +16
Ram was a bad pick. You have the first word latency at 15 with a CL of 40 which is really bad. Instead I listed one with a first word latency of 10 and a CL of 30 which is miles better Ram
Motherboard is a little overkill because you can always use the cheaper B650.
UC_Savant@reddit
Try this one instead https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/dQ8fH3
UC_Savant@reddit
You can get the 7800X3D for +$100 CAD but the performance increase is maybe +5-10% max. Can also change some of the parts for similar black ones if you want an all black build, but in any case this gives you around $150 from your budget to make aesthstic changes
bingbong12494362847@reddit
Micro atx in mid tower?
urinesain@reddit
Also an ASRock 8xx series motherboard with a 9xxxX3D chip is still kinda rolling the dice these days, lol.
I wouldn't risk it.
bingbong12494362847@reddit
Drop to 7800x3d and go to 5070ti or 9070xt
