This and when a coworker mentions a food place I should go to i actually make a point to go on my ebike now, when I only had a car never did haha

My first Ebike arrives tomorrow. How do you feel about leaving it around, safely, unlocked?
HG1998@reddit
Are you just standing around right beside it or are you like, running in somewhere and leaving it outside?
rickbrit83@reddit
🚴♀️
NoSloppyStakes@reddit
Like, if I leave it unlocked (no where to lock) would probably be a gas station.
HG1998@reddit
Depends on the vibes of the place.
NoSloppyStakes@reddit
It’s a safe area, I’ve just never been so trustworthy in life.
FreedomX01@reddit
I would recommend that you get something with an alarm like this. I got this exact horn the last 4yrs and it's been a big time lifesaver
HG1998@reddit
You could just put a lock through the rear wheel.
NoSloppyStakes@reddit
Interesting, so if I can’t lock it up, at least they can’t ride away with it. Carrying would be harder. Thanks for the idea!
Carbsv2@reddit
I'll second this, some e-bikes are heavy as shit. mine is. a ulock through the back tire and frame and a chain lock through the front tire and frame. You'd need a pickup truck to steal it, and two people to do it quickly.
Physical_Click9769@reddit
I use a U lock, chain lock and cafe lock, then I sit near a window where I can see it if possible. I don't really sweat it tbh
NoSloppyStakes@reddit
So, this alarm just screams loudly if the bike is vibrated/moved?
Physical_Click9769@reddit
Yep
DarthSamwiseAtreides@reddit
U lock for the frame, crappy zip tie style lock for my front wheel of I'm going to be away from the bike. Came from a motorcycle so I've come to grips with if someone is going to steal it they will. Look into insurance.
wolfe0014@reddit
Not very good always lock up and make sure u have a decent view of the bike it only take a a min or two
Realz319@reddit
In Japan fine. As anywhere else, heck NOOOOO!
Physical_Click9769@reddit
Yep
Hashtag_Labotomy@reddit
I dash and had an order about14 miles away with 2 50lb bags of dog food, a 15lb bag of cat food and about 40 cans of cat food. I'm sure I looked like a total nut job but it did it. Since then I've made a lot of Walmart runs with that thing.
Fair-Discipline-1005@reddit
Wherever I go, I use my bike,no need for car...👍
Dapper_Challenge2179@reddit
Mine is used as a car replacement as much as possible. Front basket, rear rack, panniers and utility trailer for big shopping trips. It's been a blast
Valuable-Contest5360@reddit
Good for it
havpac2@reddit
Pannier and crate/baskets make it even easier, I have a pannier right now, just ordered a front and rear basket. Next week I can start making larger runs, less frequently too. But I do enjoy the ride
snoogins355@reddit
Front and rear racks are game changers for grocery store runs. Get a delivery bag that fits perfectly in the rear rack and when you shop, you know exactly what will fit
MiraFlynn8203@reddit
It also kind of changes how you shop you just naturally optimize what you bring home instead of overbuying or struggling with carrying it all.
whisperingwind5678@reddit
I haven’t fully gone that route yet, but even with just a pannier I already started overpacking a bit because the space makes it feel like I should use it.
OwenPage7426@reddit
I get what you mean about enjoying the ride too. That part honestly becomes the main reason I end up doing more trips.
Inciteful_Analysis@reddit
You don't need a car but you do need a rack if you are using your bike to carry things. Weight on the handlebar like this compromises steering.
R00TED10101@reddit
I agree I just tie the bag to your backpack strap.
ThriftianaStoned@reddit
I got panniers and a crate I can do big shops
