I'm not sure the Supra group (or anyone) appreciates this. I don't have socials, just a blog like it's 2009.
King_of_Doggos@reddit
what transmission did you use with the m54 i've been thinking of manual swapping mine
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
W58 with an adapter that I designed.
King_of_Doggos@reddit
ooh thanks thats good to know i might just use the GS6X37BZ if i can but that should be a good secondary choice incase
Roverjosh@reddit
Oooo those Recaros are awesome!
nastonius@reddit
Incredible work. Is there a way to subscribe to your blog by chance?
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
You should be able to sign up at the top of the blog section now.
nastonius@reddit
Sweet! Thanks bud!
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
Good question. I will figure out how to set that up.
WasteResolve1405@reddit
Beautiful car! I recently got an 85 P-Type. One owner and only 88k miles. Not sure whether to jz swap or keep it stock.
aprehensive_penguin@reddit
So, what's the good word?
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
THWG!
Fit_Equivalent3610@reddit
What wheels are those?
nopester24@reddit
yeah the celica supra is a severely underrated car and one of the best looking if you ask me
fw0ng1337@reddit
The problem is that they're incredibly hard to find not completely rotted out. I was looking for one 10ish years ago and every single one was just hot garbage. I still really want one.
nopester24@reddit
these kinda resurgwd in popularity a few years ago when Hyundai unveiled their N Vision 74 concept, remember that?
everyone got all excited and wanted a car that looked like that and they rediscovered the Celica supra and prices shot up
WitchHunterNL@reddit
Are they underrated in the US? Driving ones go for €25k in my country
scr33ner@reddit
Hard to find drivable Celica Supras in US & if it’s drivable, it’s in rough shape. They have been relegated to junk yards.
Predictable-human@reddit
I completely agree. Used to be a one local to me, back when they were new, and I thought it was the coolest car in the world. This, and a 300ZX Z31 - loved them both. Pretty sure the Nissan is still around, but the Supra was rotting in grass last time I saw it in early 00's (back when these cars weren't "worth" fixing)
IAMN0TSTEVE@reddit
Agreed!
ineyeseekay@reddit
Me too!
gumption_boy@reddit
That second picture of the Supra between the Camaro and the BMW sums up your engine history pretty nicely
Awkward_Stranger407@reddit
I had one of these, fastest I've ever driven was 147mph ,
grease_monkey@reddit
I have an 82 supra and my plan is to drop in an M54 when the 5M takes a dump. Unfortunately it's still going strong. Can I DM you to talk about the project?
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
Sure. The blog covers most of it so far though. You can use a BMW trans and m50 oil pan but the motor will need to sit pretty far forward.
grease_monkey@reddit
Yeah I saw and read through the blog after I posted. Great stuff man.
curiousbydesign@reddit
Looks fun to drive!
amg-rx7@reddit
Why did you swap out the LS?
Picax8398@reddit
He probably wanted a swap that hasn't been beaten to death.
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
Not incredibly refined and kinda boring. It was fast but absurdly so. There were lots of little things I wanted to fix but it would have required basically starting over and at that point I figured I'd do something more interesting.
NuclearWasteland@reddit
Weight is such an often ignored aspect of swaps.
Yeah I enjoy it going fast but also like, turns are a thing and weight distribution matters.
Nice work, and really cool car. Always liked that era. They're all angular and pleasingly 80s.
Local_Bobcat_2000@reddit
An LS unswap! Love it!
FalseRelease4@reddit
i hate sbc and LS swaps, theyre so boring and overdone
HankSteakfist@reddit
The MK2 has that 1980's futuristic but also utilitarian Cyberpunk look to it.
Love it.
HeroMachineMan@reddit
The factory wheel arches are gorgeous. They fit the car so well
VR_p0rn@reddit
Celica Supra. I have one with rougher paint. But it's a fucking awesome car. Even if parts are hard to find sometimes.
donosairs@reddit
Wheel setup is dope. Also blogging like its 2009, we gotta bring that back!
the_fools_brood@reddit
I had an 89 mk3 that I gave away. Wasn't special, automatic, the gem or something, non turbo. Was a targa, but finding parts was a struggle for the car. Not a lot of support aftermarket. Now, I wish I had kept it.
LASERDICKMCCOOL@reddit
Fuck i am so jealous. I bought one as a teen with a blown motor and ended up selling it before I ever got to drive it. One of the best looking cars ever imo
tollboi@reddit
I had the chance to buy one moons ago and regret it often, not as much as I regret selling my turbo converted A80 for $9500 in 2017 though
firstorbit@reddit
Atlanta motor speedway. What club are you running with?
DEADxDAWN@reddit
Absolutely love it. Grrat color combo too.
No-Enthusiasm3579@reddit
😄 this has to have ALL of the purists fuming and I'm here for it
Tyler5280@reddit
They would never dream of a BMW-derived engine in a Supra! 😤
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
Yup yup. It had a 5M-GTE prior to the LS but I lost all my pictures in the Photobucket apocalypse.
triddlyso@reddit
I had a friend who had one of these in high school and I never saw it for what it was worth. It was a rough example but man….to have one now. They’re very underrated, obviously later generations get all the glory. But these were/are cool.
A_man_and_his_truck@reddit
Love the car! Ive got a 1j swapped in my 83. And thats a beast of a motor in there!
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
Nice. I like that swap too but I wanted to stay NA and it's difficult to make NA power with a JZ.
A_man_and_his_truck@reddit
Yeah it is difficult... lol I've had this engine since 07, managed to get it for a good deal. They do love boost. Would have done a UZ if I didn't swap the JZ
tsukiyaki1@reddit
Damn this is too awesome. The Celica Supra is a damn sleek car.. I don’t know if even purists like the M I6 that was in them, though lol. Great car for a power plant swap.
grease_monkey@reddit
We don't lol
eFeqt@reddit
holy shit that's some good work
Poil336@reddit
Wheel fitment on point. Killer car dude!
spotdishotdish@reddit
Now it's the missing link for the current gen!
burburburburburbur@reddit
oh my god I'm cumming
speedbarf@reddit
Awesome. I love the seats and G7s.
Erki82@reddit
M54 has ITB from what M3 engine? E36 or E46?
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
E46 S54.
Doc-Zoidberg@reddit
Damn dude ive not seen one of those in 30 years.
BoysenberryFinal9113@reddit
Beautiful inside and out.
petalxbloom@reddit
That is one sexy car! Love your ride man!
CarlosMolotov@reddit
COOL. sweet ride dude. I love seeing the work of someone who loves the process!
DakarCarGunGuy@reddit
I rode in one one time. I was impressed! Didn't expect the performance it had.
windraver@reddit
Looks great!
shiftdown@reddit
I put the same seats in my project and freaking love them. Very cool build
frenchfriedtaters79@reddit
One of my favorite supras. If only I could find a clean one …
Rusty9838@reddit
Damn his supra looks hot
Matrix_John@reddit
Great looking car. Love the seat choice 👌
gravitologist@reddit
Fuck yeah. Amazing.
rudbri93@reddit
any boost plans for the m54?
Few_Huckleberry_573@reddit (OP)
Probably not. I want to build a wild N/A motor but I will probably get it running with this unopened stock one first.
aviewachoo@reddit
I love that generation of Supra. Probably my favorite. Bitchin' ride, dude.
