Affordable apartments moving to Dallas, Texas

Hi everyone,
I will be moving to Dallas soon for work and I am looking for apartment recommendations. My budget is about $1,300/month max for either a studio or 1-bedroom.
I am interested in areas such as Uptown, State/Thomas, Victory Park, Knox-Henderson, Lower Greenville, or similar nearby neighborhoods. My office will likely be in the Downtown Dallas area, so I am hoping to keep the commute to around 15–25 minutes by car.
I would prefer an apartment that has good reviews, reasonable management, and is in an area where things like car break-ins are not a frequent concern. Being within a reasonable driving distance to grocery stores like Kroger, Tom Thumb, or Walmart would also be helpful.
I understand $1,300 may be on the lower side for these neighborhoods, so I am open to:
older buildings
smaller apartment communities
nearby areas with similar commute times
apartments offering move-in specials
If anyone has recommendations for specific apartments, property groups, or areas to consider (or avoid), I would really appreciate it.
Thank you!

You won’t find this in State Thomas, you won’t find this in Victory Park, you won’t find this in the desirable parts of Knox Henderson
I suggest looking at some of the places in Old East Dallas along Ross, Munger, or similar. There are some garden style cheap places that will have imperfect living conditions but your budget will all for that. Your budget can potentially work - but I think you need to accept living in a shoddier place if that’s your budget.
Gimme a bit and I can send some links to ya

I pay for $1350 for a studio at MAA North Hall. The building is a bit older but the apartments are nice. It is 1 block from the katy trail and a 5 min drive from the Walmart grocery store and another 2 minutes to Kroger. I’ve seen the sheriff drive through the parking structure and around the block a couple of times just for patrol so I feel safe. There is a lot of restaurants within a block away or on the block. The biggest con is that since it is next to the bars, it’s really loud on the weekends.

I live near Swiss near munger. One bedroom for $1,400. I think the areas you mentioned You're not going to find much for 1300. Old East Dallas is going to be a better option. Especially if you're near Swiss, which is a nice Street to walk on and very safe. I sent you a message.

Look over is midtown at the Nash/Evera. Avoid the Sevens. I have a crime report index and it’s always popping up 🫣
Also, Camden’s farmers market seems nice, I’m touring there this week.
Wherever you go, read the google reviews. Some are a little off the hinge but most will help you see what’s really going on in that community. I agree down town is going to be really rough to find a decent place at the price, so you’ll probably have to scale out a bit…

I’d be careful in this price range but it’s definitely possible depending on your standard of living.
