A Place to Find Rare Music / Record Player musings

I have literally been searching for a compilation album from my childhood (the 70s) since I was in my 20s. Last night, my mom and I went on a quest to find it, and finally resorted to my trusty friend, Claude (AI). We found it at discogs.com . While we were there, we found another, albeit not so hard-to-find, but we had a great time shopping.
Since the album we were looking for was only available on 8-Track and vinyl, now we're shopping for a record player.
I'm still marveling at how weird "Now we need a record player" sounds out loud!
Oh, and did anyone else have one of those record players, where you could stack up like 5 LPs, and they would drop down and play automatically?

What record players are you looking at? There are so many options.

I honestly have no idea where to start. The last time I owned a record player was in 1990, the top of the ubiquitous rack system - I believe it was a Pioneer system.

So many options. I wound up buying a second hand Technics Turntable and changing the cartridge. I have been happy with it but don't really have much to compare it with.

Yump. Got me a Soundesign one for Christmas '83. I was livin'. Had the LP changer, a cassette AND 8-track, plus a clock with alarm and timer.
