IFR Checkride Tomorrow

I’m feeling pretty confident for my IFR Checkride. I’ll be flying in a C172S G1000. The only part of the ground portion I’m a bit uncertain about is questions about systems, specifically the G1000. What are some questions (and answers) is should expect to be asked about the G1000, ADC, and AHRS.

If your alternator fails, what battery do you draw from first? What systems remain powered?
If you drain that battery, what battery do you draw from next? What systems remain powered?

This kind of thread has been done often, so I’ll instead suggest you read this, since you think you’re weak on the G1000. It’s short but describes how it works. Can’t find the official link at the moment but this CAP one will do. https://ilwg.cap.gov/media/cms/G1000_Guide_for_Pilot_Examiners_and_FEFF74934F224.pdf

Great doc. TY.

You’re flying in LA and your OAT probe just quits working, red X and all. What equipment will be affected the most by it and why?

One question I see far too many people get wrong:
If your pitot tube ices over (completely, for the sake of specificity), what indications will you see on the PFD and standby ASI? Are they different? Why or why not?

Where does your aircraft get its airspeed and attitude information from? During your preflight you see the message “Magnetometer 1 Error” what does that mean and can you continue your flight? You have an expired Nav database, can you fly IFR? What about if Obstacle database is expired?
reddit231200@reddit (OP)
The aircraft is receiving airspeed and attitude information from the pitot static system which then feeds information to the ADC. A magnetometer error means that the GMU has failed and I can continue the flight with reference to the magnetic compass. An expired Nav database means I am not able to fly IFR, the same is for expired obstacle data.
This is how I would answer although I’m not certain they are correct

The expired data is wrong.
Nav limitations are from the POH, and are more stringent than FAA limitations. You may not fly an RNAV approach or a terrestrial approach with RNAV substitution with an expired nav database. There is much more to IFR than approaches, and vectors to an ILS covers the approaches.
The obstacle database is not required and can be factory original or completely absent.
Read that POH carefully. Those limitations are very important.
My favorite to ask is, when can you engage the autopilot after pressing the GA button on a missed approach? Once again, read the POH carefully, as it’s very common to get this wrong. What will the autopilot do if you only press the GA and AP buttons (with properly established full throttle)?

The attitude data is from the pitot static system? Your magnetometer failed on the ground, you’re saying that you can continue with your flight? What says that you can do that and would you do that? The obstacle database is reference only and is not required for any flight. The nav database is not always required for IFR flight, you should read your aircraft’s limitations to find when it’s not needed and what you can alternatively do.

Will the transponder be affected if we lose ADC?
What is affected if we just lose magnetometer?
Why do we have 2 GIA’s? Which one is used for a flight?
What will we see in a WAAS failure? RAIM failure?
YogurtclosetLanky322@reddit
How does our magnetometer work?
Flyinghud@reddit
Your ADC fails, what instruments and equipment will you lose as well?
