Saw this in an old rural hospital today. Remember when people were allowed to smoke in hospitals?

In 1994 I flew to Hong Kong on what was probably one of the last smoking flights around. Hurtling through the air for 12 hours at 30,000 feet in a smoke-filled tube. Good times.

I used to smoke in the grocery store with my Granny.

For some reason, the grocery store is the only place I don't remember any one smoking. Mom smoked like a chimney and I don't remember her smoking at the store. Maybe I was just so used to it, I didn't notice.

I remember non-smoking and smoking seats on commercial flights.

Yup. I remember that on my first plane ride as a kid. That worked real well.

Yes. I remember smelling the smoke. Not sure why they did that. So stupid. What if someone dropped their ciggie on the damn carpet and started a fire? Sheesh! I was 17 and thinking this which added to my horrid anxiety of flying for the first time!

Teachers smoking in the cafeteria during recess, a cloud of smoke billowing behind them as they picked us up to go back to class.

Even the students had a smoking section!

My dad had to have neck surgery in the early 80s. The patient rooms has ashtrays on the nightstands, there were "Gray Ladies" (they wore gray dresses) who brought a cart around with newspapers, candy, and cigarettes, and you'd see the nurses in their starched white uniforms and caps smoking.

I remember smoking in the rooms.

I was a teenage volunteer at a hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, 1980-1982. The patients were still permitted to smoke in their rooms. Ugh!

They get so up set when I’m out wandering the neighborhood and don’t understand why I need to go for smoke

When my brother was born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, my granddad snuck my sister and I up the stairwell to meet him, as we were below the minimum age for visitors.
A whole family was on the obstetrics floor landing, surrounding a bassinet with their newborn and grandpa, grandma, other relatives ALL smoking 🚬 good thing my sister and I didn’t actually want to hold the baby interloper because we would have left him stinking as well

My first dentist used to smoke while working on my teeth. Really hard to believe these days

I would definitely gag if I were the patient.

The Dr that did my first Pap test smoked during the procedure. All I remember is thinking where’s mine? I was the one being invaded by cold metal - a smoke would have helped.

👀 What?

I remember when people were smoking on airplanes. Looking back, that was about as crazy as smoking in hospitals.
Last_Cod_998@reddit
I remember that too. As a child it was miserable.

I remember smoking at the nurses' station!

My grandfather while staying in the hospital would either smoke his pipe in the rooms bathroom or sneak to stairwell
