I have one of these but with a telescoping stock. Very fine shotgun, runs like a champ and if you have quality technique you can run this thing FAST. The button on the fore end is something I considered to be a gimmick, but I have grown to appreciate. Running a tube full of buckshot and a sidesaddle full of slugs, at speed, is very fluid and intuitive. I literally have never cleaned this thing for the 5 years I've had it. I have shot the most disgusting, cheap, and questionable shells through this animal. Still works fine and would make it upstairs to the bedroom if I didn't have the Blue Lines Solutions Evidence Locker Special holding it down.
Aftermarket is almost non-existent, with Mesa tactical and GG&G being your biggest merchants. I did change out the front sight post to a Blitzkrieg triangle, which became useless after I threw on the holosun.
Dunesday_JK@reddit
I bought 2 of them maybe 10 years ago for stupid cheap (<$300ea.) at a random hardware store in north Texas and they have both been completely flawless. You’re correct about the aftermarket being a ghost town
_Hashtronaut_@reddit
Man, that sounds like a fine acquisition
Dunesday_JK@reddit
It was one of those too good to pass up deals. My dad and I were after some screws and Torx bits and walked by the gun counter to see the advertised special. Benelli for $279 (iirc) I said man for that price I’ll take an 18.5 and a 28”.
Buttoshi@reddit
Blue lines wongmaster vs the Benelli?
DarkSideOfTheNuts@reddit
For at home, sitting in an accessible location for home defense: all things considered, I would pick the BLS over the Benelli. They both work when needed, can use a light and sling, and shoot the shells I prefer for a HD scenario with similar patterns at the longest distance I expect within my house. The only difference is how I would feel if I had to use it, and the police take it as evidence. BLS costs so little, I have literally spent more on the optic I have on the Benelli.
For the range, shooting trash, and looking cool: the Benelli. It makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. I can shoot this much faster than the BLS, and the pistol grip and collapsible stock let me manipulate it with more variety. The weigh distribution favors the front of the Benelli compared to the BLS, which some of my friends prefer. I don't mind either way.
For going to war: I'm taking the Benelli and giving the BLS to one of the inadequately prepared boys. (Disregarding my incoming LTT 1301)
justjaybee16@reddit
You're gonna love the LTT 1301. Runs like a top.
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
Been meaning to pick up one of those Bl18s but I forgor and now they’re out of stock everywhere. Figures lol
DarkSideOfTheNuts@reddit
Eventually they will make their way back into the market at $99 as police trade-ins lol
FadingFX@reddit
I have the law enforcement model and it’s probably the king of this price point. I got mine for $400 5 years ago off of gunbroker of all places. While I don’t use it very much it’s my #1 home defense tool. It eats anything you can toss in it. I tossed a vortex shotgun optic since it comes pre drilled and tapped, just had to get slightly longer machine screws to mount it and it’s co witnessed.
mmiski@reddit
Cheaper at Berelli (posted just this morning).
youy23@reddit
It shoots 3.5 inch magnum shells or something and the regular nova just shoots 3 inch shells I think.
justjaybee16@reddit
Everyone wants the capability, but almost no one is ever gonna buy/shoot 3.5" Mags in any volume.
okcumputer@reddit
Unless you want to waterfowl or turkey hunt.
justjaybee16@reddit
I mean you can, but i don't think an 18.5" Cylinder bore gun is the right tool for either one of those jobs.
okcumputer@reddit
I absolutely agree with that. OPs question didnt seem specific to the tactical version. I also agree with your original comment. I bought a nova because of the 3.5 capability, and I have maybe half a box of them through it. When my buddy invites me goose hunting, it is nice to have the option in the safe though.
zobiya@reddit
Nah, the Nova shoots 3.5in shells too. Supernova has an swappable stock and a more flared out trigger guard.
bolivar-shagnasty@reddit (OP)
That was me. Lots of commenters wanted the SuperNova. So I went and found one and posted it.
mmiski@reddit
Gotcha. I guess I'll leave it up in case someone wants a cheaper option and doesn't mind it not being a regular Nova.
Wide_Fly7832@reddit
It’s $580 at KYGUNCo shipped
hitemlow@reddit
Not this 20151 SKU.
Their email thing spits out a quote for $670.99 and limits sales to "qualified personnel only".
I couldn't even find another 7+1 Supernova with their search.
Wide_Fly7832@reddit
$670 no shipping cost for this one.
Wide_Fly7832@reddit
Oh. Yeah the one I sent is 4+1. Looks close
BENELLI SuperNova Tactical 12 Gauge 18.5" 4rd - Black BNL-20160 Ships for free! $580.99 This is only a quote and will not reserve inventory for you at this time. Please complete checkout to ensure you get this item before it's gone! This quote is only good for 48 hours.
hitemlow@reddit
Is that the price hidden behind the "email for price" bullshit?
Wunktacular@reddit
It takes you 5 entire seconds to save $40.
hitemlow@reddit
Oh I'm sorry that I prefer prices to be clearly listed instead of dropping my email address all over the Internet and having to wait for the emails to roll in for a price comparison.
Wunktacular@reddit
You don't know what MAP is, and that's okay, but it might've been better to ask rather than to act presumptuous.
Most distributors have something called MAP, or "must ask pricing". Dealers who buy guns from those distributors must obey this program, or the distributor will blacklist them and their business will die.
The distributor established a minimum listing price. In this case, for simplicity, the minimum listing price on a certain gun is $100. But at a gun shop, negotiation occurs on the sticker prices. The dealer is allowed to sell the gun below $100, but the customer must negotiate with them to get that lower price.
This is done to prevent the kind of competition that happens on this subreddit.
Brick and mortar business A has the cost of their building and staff to consider, so they're only turning a profit if they sell the gun for $90. But drop shipping business B isn't paying rent, or staff, or transport costs, so they can still turn a profit even if they only sell the gun for $75.
If both places are allowed to just post whatever price they want, business A will immediately go out of business because nobody would spend $15 extra just to buy the same thing. MAP protects them.
The "email for pricing" and "add to cart for price" type deals are a loophole that allows you to get the lower price online. If the dealers didn't do that, they'd lose their distributors and go out of business, and you'd be stuck paying extra at brick and mortar stores.
This is the way of the business.
Wide_Fly7832@reddit
Minimum advertised price. But rest you age right.
Wunktacular@reddit
Well, good call, don't know why I messed that up.
hitemlow@reddit
I know what MAP is, I, the consumer, just overwhelmingly prefer "add to cart for price" over the "email for price" because I:
1) get to know the price immediately 2) don't have to wait for business hours to get an emailed price (many sites send the emails manually) 3) can add it to cart immediately to see what the shipping cost will be (many "email for price" sites won't let you add it to cart even at full MSRP, including KYgunCo) 4) I don't get signed up for their mailing list (many make it a condition of getting the price quote with no opt-out, or just add you to their mailing list without telling you)
But also KYgunCo actually has the emailed price of this SKU as $670.99, which is not in any way, shape, or form, $40 less than $622.
Wide_Fly7832@reddit
Why is it bullshit. It’s to get around MAP rules.
hitemlow@reddit
It makes price comparisons more difficult.
And let's not kid ourselves, most of the sites with "email for price" aren't better prices than the "add to cart" places and they proceed to not only add you to their mailing list, but sell your email address to other marketers as well.
Homewrecker90actual@reddit
Seems…high
