Anyone complaining about a 'heavy steering' in one of these needs to go to the gym. My mum has one and it's perfectly fine (unless you want to turn the wheel with your pinky).
That being said, the brakes pedal itself is soft, but the braking force is still linear with pedal travel. This makes annoying to judge the braking at first and it's easy to stop suddenly instead of smoothly. I prefer the Rav4's stiffer brake pedal, but you do get used to the Mitsubishi relatively quickly..

A heavier wheel has a sense of steadiness to it, like you're less likely to accidentally jerk them.
That being said while maneuvering in tight spaces I'd appreciate a lighter wheel, so maybe a speed-sensitive system is the sweet spot?

They need to update the design language on these asap.

I'm a mostly unapologetic Stan for the Mitsubishi Outlander, if you can get a good deal on one. Working for a rental company, I put at least 300 miles on these guys last year.
Car and Driver complains about heavy steering and soft brake feel, which are somewhat valid but really not a noticeable complaint for me. The base engine is slow, but not a snail. They bury the lede on how quiet and comfortable they are though.
The 3rd row does absolutely suck (I'm an average size guy) but it's there if you need it. The interior is a nice place to be, the UX is super useable, and the upgraded speaker system is not bad.
They're also pretty darn reliable too.

Third rows suck in most SUVs that aren’t gigantic. Mine’s been folded down since the day I brought the car home. An adult could sit there in a pinch but it’s far from ideal.

300 miles? Is there a typo?
I personally like a softer brake pedal than the grabby shit they're putting in so many cars now.

300 miles is probably as much as any of the reviewers have put into it and he's reviewing a rental which probably has more miles than a press car which gives a good impression of how it holds up to pedestrian abuse.

Not only is the Yamaha system not bad it is up there overall with plenty of the luxury/premium products & probably the best in sheer value
Very annoying that the PHEV doesn't get it, because it should be the benchmark for basic car audio design. They didn't put two dozen awful speakers in the headrests & on the roof & try to make up for all the audio bouncing off glass with terrible DSP
Its just the perfect volume & variety of speakers, & its still a bit bassy, but you can tell they've gone to the drawing board & properly accommodated, properly amplified, that they didn't just go throw shit at a wall

Does the 1.5T use a Mitsubishi 4B40 or a Nissan KR15DDT? Because if the latter I would avoid it like the plague.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
4B40 thankfully

woah 300 whole miles without an engine replacement? I'm sold
mgobla@reddit
They removed the only reason to buy one (NA engine)

Quais são os concorrentes desse carro?

Rented a 2025 model just a month ago for 2 weeks on a holiday and did about 2000miles in it. It's honestly a decent all-rounder. Engine isn't all that fast or economical, but does the job and tbh, most other competitors in this segment have pretty uninspiring base engines as well. Interior is decently spacious, and the ergonomics are pretty good as well. The tech stuff is decent, but you can tell it's starting to be an older generation vehicle since it's missing a few things like wireless android auto. The lane keep assist is also strangely a brake-based system that pulses the brakes on one side to drag you back unlike basically all other companies which moves the steering wheel. Refinement at highway speeds is good, noticeably better than a previous gen RAV4 we rented before.
Overall decent vehicle and I can see why people would buy one. The third row is super tight for adults but would be fine for kids and people just like having the reassurance of extra seats if needed. Personally, if I were shopping in this segment, would either get a RAV4 Hybrid, or a Korean built Tucson/Sportage Hybrid.
