What a shock.
garr3ttwashere@reddit
I'm so over this dumb ass time line.
ForYourAwareness@reddit (OP)
I’m trying so hard not to get conspiratorial but shortly before midterms too…
evermorecoffee@reddit
I think it is obvious they are aware there are zero consequences, so they’re not even trying to hide it anymore.
ForYourAwareness@reddit (OP)
You’re not wrong. When I was old enough for my first election someone told me - republicans lie to your face, democrats lie behind your back. Choose which one hurts less
halcyonforeveragain@reddit
I like that quote. My frustration is so many in my circle are very "both sides are bad so it doesn't matter" which makes me feel like the line in Fallout: "One side is murdering people, enslaving them, crucifying them, and the other side is just vaguely problematic,"
MidwestQueerPunkBoi@reddit
Police killings of Americans went up every year since 2000, regardless of which party held office. Obama built the surveillance state infrastructure that ICE is using to kidnap your neighbors. ICE, incidentally, has never faced meaningful opposition by the Dems in Congress - they voted to expanded it in Biden's last few months in office. And we literally just watched a Democratic president oversee a genocide.
Wake the fuck up.
halcyonforeveragain@reddit
The surveillance state is pretty much the peak of both parties being in on it. Neither has ever taken one action to limit it. From the Patriot Act on it has been a steady march by both the left and the right foot. That's not going to change from un-tying the laces of the left boot just so the right boot can kick you in the teeth.
That's going to be the case until something major, more than left right musical chairs, re-arranges the priorities.
MidwestQueerPunkBoi@reddit
Part of the problem is that folks like ya'll call the Center-Right Democratic party "the left".
halcyonforeveragain@reddit
I can appreciate your frustration but I don't think you want to have a discussion and just want to attack, even those who would likely be on your side. I think we are done here.
darkmeowl25@reddit
Maybe it's just the circles I'm in, but I see much more of "The Democrats are consistently putting up terrible and/or right wing (on a global scale) candidates and will never give us any more if there are no consequences, so ❗️strategic❗️ use of things like the uncommitted movement are a necessity until we are provided with actual leaders who want change." And "American foreign policy is uniparty", then it gets regurgitated to "You said both sides are the same hope you're happy with Trump since it's all your fault 😡🤬😡🤬" regardless of how the person actually voted or what they have stood for consistently.
❗️ - highlighted before someone tries to blame this regime on me, someone who voted for Kamala despite living in an all-or-nothing electoral state where every country went to Trump 3 times.
halcyonforeveragain@reddit
Yeah the current system is so horrible because both parties pretty much get a pass. Both parties just thrive as the party of opposition. Democrats can't be pressured into anything because they are the only viable alternative to the Republicans. Republicans can get away with anything because they have several key voting blocks that guarantee a safe margin. There are very few districts that are actually competitive, which is the small number of seats that we see switching back and forth. The rest on both sides can sit by like fat cats and enjoy 50 years of un-challenged authority.
darkmeowl25@reddit
Hear, hear! I'm going to keep voting, because I'm a woman and I'm going to use that right as often as I can before they take it from me, but it stopped feeling like it mattered outside of local and state races back in 2016. Bernie won the primary here by almost 10.5 percentage points, and was the winner in every county except for two. In my county alone he won by 21 points. We are extremely EXTREMELY rural. It really felt like watching the last lifeboat float away. Now those folks who could have absolutely been pulled left by a populist message are a decade entrenched in a cult of personality that I have no idea how to break through. Things have been broken beyond repair, and I don't think a lot of people are or can let themselves think about what it's going to look like going forward.
In my county, we are already fielding an upward trend of suicides and overdoses over the last 5 years. We lost two young teenagers (18 & 15) to the penal system for life because they tried to rob a business and killed someone. Both were my students at the local school at one time. They were from families experiencing generational poverty, drug abuse, and neglect. All of that is happening while shit is still functioning. I've thought a lot about what happens when those functions stop, and it is nightmare inducing. Literally. I'm 3/3 this week on nights that I go to sleep and dream of disaster.
halcyonforeveragain@reddit
Yeah here in Oklahoma there has been a big push that many left leaning voters are registering (R) just so we can vote in the primary because many elections are foregone conclusions to go to who ever the (R) candidate is. We ended up with Ryan Walters because no one cared who the State Superintendent primary vote was so he got a pass.
darkmeowl25@reddit
Oh shit, fellow Oklahomie?!?! Shit's so fucked here 😭
halcyonforeveragain@reddit
Honestly I think our best political strategy in OK would be to co-opt the Republican party so much that they fracture. Get enough left leaning voters into their primary that we push through moderate candidates so their only option is to do some sort of split.
darkmeowl25@reddit
I'm a bigger fan of running left populist independents that then caucus together and eventually form a new Farm Labor Party. I can get a lot of righties to fervently agree with things that are out and out socialist if I don't ever say that word out loud. I've got a whole damn notebook full of talking points I'd love to just hand over, but everyone is either too poor to run or is into the party game. I'm unlikeable and not interested in moving or I'd do it myself lmao.
Significant_Donut967@reddit
I heard similar, I chose to vote for something, not against.
hopefulleo2112@reddit
They really must be prepared to go scorched earth. They're acting like there will never be accountability.
Significant_Donut967@reddit
Because there won't be, there never fucking is.
Look at what they did to musk for his election fraud/interference in Georgia. They wrote a strongly worded message, just like normal with the duopoly.
Fucking sick of this shit y'all, no integrity and no honor in our government anymore.
hera-fawcett@reddit
99% of these fuckers are ancient too.
if justice comes for them, theyll be dead soon. and their kids will prob keep their head down and end up enjoying the profits.
Significant_Donut967@reddit
Yup, their whole families need charged. We need to set examples.
It's a terrible precedent but, these few people have killed so fucking many. They're all complicit in it, I'm disgusted with myself saying it though.
Fuck this government and israel.
hera-fawcett@reddit
at some point the family is complicit.
and, unfortunately, most of the families are dynasties w layers of corruption within, all benefiting.
the trump family is esp egregious, imo, bc theyve been so open about it. like sure, they arent the rothschildes, they dont have 100s of yrs--- but they do have decades of absolute corruption from racist housing, to putting judges in places, to paying for women and raping them, to child rape, etc etc etc.
how can u be someone, like barron or ivana, and just keep sitting there? profiting. and ignoring everything that comes ur way. its absolutely wild to me.
Significant_Donut967@reddit
I agree.
If we were to set that precedent it would have to be very very specific. It would have to be written so that no one could ever abuse it to prosecute their political enemies but enemies regardless of political affiliation.
And even then, I would need to be applied to political actions, but then again, most human interactions can be considered some form of politics.
How do you make rules without making pathways for abuse or loopholes.
0masterdebater0@reddit
It’s not a conspiracy when they do it in the open so blatantly knowing no one can/will stop them, it’s just observing at that point.
Mr_E_Monkey@reddit
Is it really conspiracy theory when they're this blatantly obvious?

Well not like it prevented Musk from rigging the 2024 election anyway.
knaugh@reddit
whistleblowers have claimed CISA/the NSA did catch it, the Dems just did nothing about it. Which I totally believe. The Dems were throwing out hints left and right that they knew what happened right up until the inauguration. Kamala wrote a fucking book about how easily our elections could be rigged.
MidwestQueerPunkBoi@reddit
Kind of drives home that democracy in the US was already a farce then; doesn't it friend?

I was reading more about it today and it says it also removes oversight of the chemical security program that oversees high risk facilities…
hopefulleo2112@reddit
After reading the article and researching EI-IASC it does seem to me they're preparing some pretty nasty stuff regarding the upcoming elections. Why on earth would they defend the very infrastructure critical to preventing voting fraud when it's been their number one concern???
Only-Worldliness2006@reddit
They're trying to rig the election
Babzibaum@reddit
Because now it's THEIR fraud.

lol I’m old enough to remember when republicans said that voter ID would make elections secure and eliminate voter fraud and Arizona and Georgia were two of the first states to pass strict voter ID laws and now republicans say there’s rampant fraud in Georgia and Arizona elections and the election was stolen.
So either republicans were lying, are lying, both, or voter ID just doesn’t work. Maybe all of the above. Most obviously it’s just always been an effort to discredit elections generally.
FeralGiraffeAttack@reddit
It was never their number one concern; Republicans use it as a smokescreen to disenfranchise voters and limit democracy.
After the 2020 election (the one Trump bitched and moaned about) CISA said it was actually “the most secure in American history”
Yet, in response once Trump got back in power, Republicans passed the SAVE act in the House and Trump is pushing for it in the senate. It is a huge attack on suffrage for two reasons and would disenfranchise millions of American citizens. Keep in mind, despite all the hullabaloo around REAL ID to be able to fly, government-issued driver’s licenses (including REAL IDs) as well as military or tribal IDs do not satisfy the SAVE Act’s requirements, meaning that, for the vast majority of Americans, the only documents that would work would be a passport or birth certificate.
First, according to the Federal Reserve: when faced with a hypothetical expense of only $400, 63% of all adults in 2022 said they would have covered it exclusively using cash, savings, or a credit card paid off at the next statement. The remainder (37%) said they would have paid by borrowing or selling something, or said they would not have been able to cover the expense. A passport book costs $165 and a passport card costs $65. Note that a passport card cannot be used for air travel and is only valid for travel by land and sea from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and some Caribbean countries. About 36% of the country’s voting-eligible population, did not vote in the 2024 general election. How much higher do you think that number would be if people had to incur an unnecessary expense that they can barely afford?
Second, 84 percent of women who marry change their surname, meaning as many as 69 million American women do not have a birth certificate with their legal name on it and thereby could not use their birth certificate to prove citizenship. The SAVE Act makes no mention of being able to show a marriage certificate or change-of-name documentation. This means that their only recourse to vote would be to have to buy a passport which again, many Americans cannot afford.
Requiring ID to vote in this way is a strategy to lower turnout for poor people, women, and naturalized Americans who weren't born here but later became citizens.
MrSnarf26@reddit
They don’t care about voter fraud. They just want to pick and choose who votes (or attempt to).

Years from now CISA will definitely be using Trump as an example to how devastating an insider threat is. Too bad the general public couldn’t see that after January 6th.
exhaustedanalyst@reddit
We did. Too many racist people that would rather blame immigrants for all their problems.
scottimherenowwhat@reddit
They know it's their only hope of winning the midterms. Unless they cheat, it's going to be a slaughter.
ErictheAgnostic@reddit
And...who is suprised..."rigged" election claims backed up by reduced funding
Playful_Possible_379@reddit
Well democracy is dead. And people who've never faced suffering are about to get a lesson in why democracy while imperfect it's the best way to have a healthy life without worrying about the bullies having no consequences. But we failed at that and now we'll all have to suffer.
ForYourAwareness@reddit (OP)
I wouldn’t say democracy is dead just yet. But whatever is on the other side is definitely knocking on the door.
GeorgeKaplanIsReal@reddit
Yeah I bet.
Katydid829@reddit
He’s got to be able to rig the election without anyone noticing or telling him what he’s doing is illegal or wrong.
hopefulleo2112@reddit
This 100%.
ReligionIsTheMatrix@reddit
The man who says elections are not secure wants to cut the election security budget. Got it.
Aromatic-Bet-1086@reddit
So they're cutting defenses against the voter fraud they claim be be concerned about....
I guess it's all different when it's your own voter fraud
ImaDinosaurR0AR@reddit
This is actually really smart. If he’s going to cancel the elections, why do we need to spend money on securing them?
ForYourAwareness@reddit (OP)
I can’t argue with that logic but I’m still waiting on my check from all doge savings.
