How is this sunshine improving your mood?

First, apologies to those areas not enjoying the mini-heatwave
But for the rest of us; do you feel happier.after 2 days of sunshine and warmth?
I'm seeing a lot more smiling people around me
samsaBEAR@reddit
I am permanently in a state of wanting a few beers in a pub garden
MrHumdinger1@reddit
Yes! Nothing better than 2 beers to barely get a buzz and then go home fuzzy headed and with a headache instead of going for a nice stroll.
MisterD90x@reddit
It's nice, I'm a redhead so I'm not good in the sun, but low to mid 20s has been quite good.
I commute to work on a motorcycle and being rained on for 4 months everyday was starting to get on my nerves.
Either way, I planted some new flowers/herbs in the garden and got the grass cut.
TooLittleGravitas@reddit (OP)
With you! The winter is so long when you commute by bike. (Still better than sitting in traffic though)
newtobitcoin111@reddit
it is not, I live in a shit area once sun comes out loud music drugs and general nusiance happens. I HATE SUMMERS
-C80-@reddit
It’s so so good! 4 loads of washing dry outside today and just feeling like summer gives me such a boost!
TooLittleGravitas@reddit (OP)
I ended up frustrated because there was nothing left to wash 🤣. All that sunshine going to waste!
a-hthy@reddit
For me no because it means I can’t hide my body in a coat. It just brings out all my insecurities and makes me obsess about losing weight. Sucks.
sdgdgdg@reddit
in recovery from an ED and i feel this so so so hard. it makes it hard to ever go out tbh
Loud-Welder1947@reddit
No one really cares enough about you to overthink it like you do
lastatthedisco@reddit
Totally easier said than done (I’m in recovery from anorexia so I completely get this) but try your best to remember your body is worthy of love, sun, and respect (most of all yours!), regardless of your size! I’ve been feeling a bit ‘fat’ today but still wearing my shorts and trying to enjoy the feeling of sun on my skin, as is all of our right.
a-hthy@reddit
Thank you for this. It’s such a mental battle. I have to remind myself that it’s ok to exist just as am I.
Extra-Answer5541@reddit
Keep your head up! You aren't fat, just you have fat. It doesn't define you
International-Wear57@reddit
Why don’t you loose weight then ?
Aromatic-Story-6556@reddit
I know what you mean. I still had my big long cardigan on in the office today even though it was very warm. I don’t want to get all my bits and pieces out where they can be judged!
ascension2121@reddit
I felt this for years because I had really intense, kind of disfiguring acne. I stayed indoors a lot because people stared at me it was so bad. However I look back at that time now and really regret staying cooped up and hiding away from the world - let them look at me while I bloody enjoy myself! My only nice days during that time is when I went out and did what I damn pleased, sod others and sod my own insecurities too. Enjoy yourself and be happy!
Gullible-Hose4180@reddit
Always lifts my mood. Simple 5 minute walks suddenly do a lot of heavy lifting
sillwuka@reddit
The lighter evenings = improved mental health
Srddrs@reddit
I got made redundant last month and it’s a problem for a lot of reasons. I’ve applied for a few jobs that align very well with my experience and abilities - one I had a referral and 2 people put in a good word for me. Been rejected from all of these jobs without an interview. If it wasn’t for the weather I’d probably be spiralling way out of control.
Whoosholliander@reddit
It doesn't improve mine at all. I don't like it.
ambergriswoldo@reddit
Loved it - missed out on in Tuesday because of work but just lay in the sun all Wednesday - I feel toasty and full of sun
Loud-Welder1947@reddit
It’s not
-Intrepid-Path-@reddit
it isn't
ImmediateChemistry85@reddit
Much better now!
Poo_Poo_La_Foo@reddit
Today was frankly too hot (26 degrees) it was STICKY.
Affectionate-Boot-12@reddit
Don’t be so daft. You silly billy.
JourneyThiefer@reddit
I always find it mad there’s people who don’t like sunny weather. Hot temps I can understand why people don’t like, but not liking just clear skies 🤯 crazy to me ha ha
Pichouche@reddit
Let’s just say the terrace and I have become very well acquainted the past couple of days :))
PKblaze@reddit
I don't care for it and it also results in neighbours burning crap and playing loud music. So, not a fan.
DRUGEND1@reddit
Agreed. Unfortunately the sun brings out the bell ends where I live, so I await the quiet Autumn again.
Upbeat_Map_348@reddit
Personally, I love it. I played a round of golf on my own today in the sunshine and it was glorious.
tortoiseshell_claws@reddit
Love it. I’m off work (teacher) so I’ve been using the time to sort the garden out a bit. I’ve also washed and line dried everything I can - all the blankets / oodies, everything!
Martipar@reddit
I decide to go for a cycle earlier and there were few places I went that were quiet, yes it's the Easter holidays but there were people everywhere, even my favourite picnic table was occupied and it's usually empty even at the busiest times. It's Wednesday and it felt li a particularly busy Saturday.
notspringsomnia@reddit
A great deal! Had a lovely day in the garden today. It’s so uplifting seeing the bright blue sky and also seeing everyone else in a good mood.
Affectionate_Day7543@reddit
I suddenly have the motivation to go to the gym
Danielharris1260@reddit
I currently have a stomach bug so the weather is making my house feel more stuffy than normal and worsening my migraine and hot flashes I’m getting. But it was nice seeing my kids having nice time playing outside with the kids on our street.
EatingCoooolo@reddit
The sun just makes me day, even if I have to go to work.
Marshmallowmind2@reddit
I'm out of depression. I feel like I've been reborn this week and beaming with joy. I get really quite down in the winter, functional but feel down. Any solutions? Sad lamp? . I know about exercise, vitamin d etc
kaosskp3@reddit
The kids hate the heat, so it's more tantrums and meltdowns (just had one over who sits where for dinner)
Really brightens my mood!
Its_me_Dan@reddit
I started to take vitamin D supplements yesterday after feeling a bit down and reading into it. Not sure it was supposed to actually summon the sun but I'm not complaining! Feel pretty good!
Glozboy@reddit
Honestly, it's not. It's gone from fine to roasting way too fast. I really struggle in the sun.
Jolly_Psychology_506@reddit
Yep fantastic ☀️ finished the day with a bbq 🍖
peddersmeister@reddit
As a fair skinned ginger I don't cope very well with heat. But yeah it is nicer to have some sunshine. Personally 20⁰c is my "just right" 25⁰c is my upper limit.
No-Poem-3773@reddit
Lawn mower wouldn’t start, so it’s not
Aromatic-Story-6556@reddit
It’s been so nice to feel like I have the energy to do more than just go to work and rot on the weekends! We’ve had family days out and everything
No-Garbage9500@reddit
It definitely makes me feel a bit better but good grief does it bring the lice out of the woodwork - I live at a seaside town and everyone knows you avoid the town centre like the plague on the first couple of days it gets warm.
Drunk, coked up scrotes absolutely everywhere, yelling at and fighting each other in the streets and causing general shittiness for civilised humans.
Luckily once they've got it out of their system/the police get off their arses it gets better but yeah the next few days you'll not find me anywhere that you can easily stumble or go to on public transport without paying.
The roads also get a lot busier with tourists but I don't mind that so much, it's good for the place. Anyone driving here is unlikely to be the same sort with their top off yelling at seagulls.
baeworth@reddit
Life is beautiful, the world has good in it again, I love everyone and everything, and between the sunshine and this glass of wine I’m nursing nothing can bring me down! I love you all ❤️❤️❤️
TooLittleGravitas@reddit (OP)
Big glass of wine was it? 😊
Great to read so many happy comments.
baeworth@reddit
No I’m just a lightweight
3speechnotallowed@reddit
Means I can do my day job in a t-shirt and sunglasses, so yeah...I approve
(I push trolleys for Asda)
Past-Bicycle5959@reddit
That cannot be your sole role
WhalingSmithers00@reddit
My local Tesco always has the same trolley guy. There's a machine he uses to drag the big stacks that I assume requires a training course hence it being a specific role.
3speechnotallowed@reddit
It is, I've done it 13 years....
TyphoidMurphy@reddit
I did my office job in a t shirt and shorts today. Smart casual can get to fuck when it's like this.
Suns out means my glaring white, hairy bowling pin legs are out.
Theres3ofMe@reddit
It feels incredible on the face , it really does.
But it kicks off my anxiety big time, because most people turn into insufferable bellends what with either driving faster than usual, music blasting loud from either cars or neighbours gardens, quad rambler bikes, etc etc. List goes on....
I'm hyper sensitive to loud and/or repetitive unsettling noises. Mysophonia basically. So yeh, not great in that respect but other than that, it's beautiful to feel on the face ☺️
SpectralDinosaur@reddit
It's not?
In my experience, the slightest bit of good weather and everyone becomes a massive inconsiderate idiot. Couple that with it being Easter break and the teens running around like they're feral, yelling and screaming in the streets in the middle of the night and I cant say I'm seeing much to enjoy.
Maleficent_Day_3869@reddit
it’s not. i hate summer. i get so hot and sweaty and when i’m overheated i get angry and frustrated at everything. i spend a lot of my day outside at work and i’m miserable. my throat is scratchy due to hayfever and i can feel sweat on every inch of my skin. i have seasonal depression but for summer
TooLittleGravitas@reddit (OP)
Hay fever is an evil thing.
Chilly_Piper_83@reddit
Amen to every word!!
coffeewalnut08@reddit
I like it but I’m hoping it won’t be like last year where the endless sunshine turned into drought. I like seeing our landscapes stay green as they should be.
TooLittleGravitas@reddit (OP)
Not much risk of that. Not this one anyway - strictly 2 days only.
Educational-Angle717@reddit
Slightly annoyed that over the Easter break it was largley cold and grey - now back to work and bright sunshine. Still got the evenings i guess.
rabidrob42@reddit
I get hay-fever really bad, and sun stroke quite easily, so it's not great.
h00dman@reddit
I'm hoping for more weather like this soon, I've been indoors all day working.
It was nice to look at the nice weather through the window though.
YetAnotherMia@reddit
I'm like a cat basking in the sun, it's so nice 😺
EveryChemistry9163@reddit
My cat stalked off indoors. Rank amateur, can’t handle it.
Proper_North_5382@reddit
Mine was the same. I went out to the park to enjoy the sunshine and he was passed out on my bed when I left, had been like that for 3 hours prior to that already. To be fair to him, he's mostly black and he's still shedding loads of fur, must be too hot for him in the sun.
GabberZZ@reddit
I've walked 6 miles in a local country park today whilst listening to an ebook so I'm feeling uplifted.
Sufficient_Crow1743@reddit
I smell a bit
ReallyIntriguing@reddit
Night and day. Literally.
JCW9525@reddit
To be perfectly honest, the weather has never really affected my mood.
Userusedusernameuse@reddit
I hatese driving. I’ve been driving for just under a year. Literally for me there is nothing worse than driving . Today on my way to work I was actually wanting to drive, maybe to the shops or idk it was such a nice day
Deep_Banana_6521@reddit
I don't like warm, sunny weather. In the sun I sweat and burn. I like cold weather and rain doesn't bother me.
If anything the warm weather is making me feel a bit tired and fed up.
ValenciaHadley@reddit
Enjoyed a lovely walk through the woods today even managed a stretch barefoot which is the first outside barefoot walking I've managed this year.
Drwynyllo@reddit
Definitely.
ALthough, to be honest, it's a bit too hot ;-)
ddrummond88@reddit
Might be.
jooniejoon3@reddit
Everyone is smiling, had several conversations with strangers because everyone’s feeling good!
Hopeful-Climate-3848@reddit
I LIKE IT.
twerrrp@reddit
I booked today off work after feeling so down after the BHW and I feel a million times better after relaxing in the sun. England is such a beautiful place when the sun is out.
Glittering_Echo_7963@reddit
What is BHW?
Realistic_Ad9820@reddit
Bank holiday weekend I presume
rkr87@reddit
It doesn't, it makes it worse - mainly because I'm trapped in an office 9 hours a day while it's glorious outside.
Lightworker_2024@reddit
My room is a hotbox and I am not well often due to Lyme so the heat is really uncomfortable for me. We all need air con as UK summer days are very uncomfortable in my eyes when you cant escape the heat
Database_Reasonable@reddit
This is great. We got the campervan ready and booked yesterday and today at the CACC, St Neots. Bloody marvellous.😎🍻👍
SnooozeFezt@reddit
I can't lie, it has lifted me up a bit, particularly as someone who has been struggling the last few weeks. I guess we all needed a little vitamin D!
Admirable_Border_627@reddit
I had really hoped it would lift my mood, but my depression is persisting.
Went for a 12 mile walk along a lovely riverside trail on Monday and just felt deeply miserable the whole day.
Trace6x@reddit
I feel that, I definitely feel less miserable when the weather is like this, but still pretty dead inside
Past-Bicycle5959@reddit
:(
12 mile walk is no mean feat, so be proud of yourself for that! I'm proud of you stranger!
FroHawk98@reddit
Not much, been sat at my stupid desk job since dawn.
EveryChemistry9163@reddit
Mr Blue Sky, please tell me why…
Empty_Bell_1942@reddit
You had to hide away for so long...
panicattheoilrig@reddit
Not really. I'm hot and sweaty and I can't do things like hoover or cook without it getting even worse
spidertattootim@reddit
Took my work laptop out into the garden, got too hot and came back in. My gf came home with ice creams. I love WFH.
Spottyjamie@reddit
The opposite effect on me as ive had to cut a holiday short due to a poorly child
Wouldnt of minded if it was pissing down but looking after an ill child whilst seeing kids playing outside and folk on social media having fun
Luckily its “only” cost me £80ish in admin fees to rebook for may
someguyontheweb99@reddit
It’s not it’s to bloody hot at work now
djwillis1121@reddit
I've found it a lot easier to get out of bed in the morning
artglassjo@reddit
Fabulous g+t weather 😁
EveryChemistry9163@reddit
Garden + tea. Can confirm.
atsevoN@reddit
Loving it, I also finish work now and it’s light before and after when usually it’s dark either side 7am-5pm
Successful_Movie_723@reddit
I feel alive
YodaShagsDarthVader@reddit
It is well hot.
Shakezula123@reddit
Bah humbug. Bring back the cold
SituationMundane5452@reddit
I can’t remember the last time I felt the sun on my back like today. Feels good
spokenwealth@reddit
I spent all day looking forward to finally cutting the grass.
Now, I am sweating from places I never knew I could
PresentReindeer9011@reddit
Yes it’s lovely, just the right temperature. Enjoying the garden atm
voxo_boxo@reddit
The difference is night and day. I commuted in my MX-5 with the roof down today, and I didn't actually mind the commute for once.
GanacheImportant8186@reddit
Wonderful. Despite me bitching about it constantly, UK feels half decent when the sun comes out ...
Hyrules_Saviour@reddit
It's awesome
LockedinYou@reddit
Well yeah, look around!! Blue skies, all the bushes and trees are starting to turn green and the birds are singing!! Better days are ahead 🙏
