Countries where you can shoot real firearms

I’d like to try shooting a gun while traveling abroad. Which countries would you recommend? I’m Japanese, so I’ve never fired a gun before. Nearby places that come to mind are South Korea, the Philippines, Guam, and Hawaii. Could you suggest other good options as well, and explain the types of guns you can shoot and any important details?
jonny_snaps_pews@reddit
If you ever decide to come down to Austin Texas, let me know! A buddy of mine has a personal range and a couple full auto bangers you can try out. Would probably get some hog hunting done while we’re at it 😎

I went to an awesome shooting range in Vietnam, fired a fully automatic AK. little pricy but so cool. They had an anti-aircraft gun you could fire if you could afford the ammo.
Ok_Patel2005@reddit
I’ve watched smt online isn’t the AK strapped down
lady_ass_appreciator@reddit
Pretty much it's under a steel loop so you can still aim, just no shenanigans
Ok_Patel2005@reddit
Idk man too much for my merican brain, but I can see why other countries would like that experience considering how restrictive they are
Outlasttactical@reddit
10 years ago Thailand had lots of shooting. They also had the shoot a cow with an RPG option.
Jumpy-Imagination-81@reddit
Hawaii has strict gun control laws. Alaska is much better.

rickys_dad@reddit
Alaska is also beautiful (outside of Anchorage lol).
Glass_Rule@reddit
My sister in law just visited from Japan and I took her shooting. Even in New England, which is notoriously strict on gun laws, you can find a few spots to rent and shoot.
If you're looking to fly fewer timezones there's a few places in Guam and Saipan I can recommend that I've taken japanese relatives to.
DSA_FAL@reddit
Thailand and Vietnam both have rentals.
jgmu17@reddit
make a lifetime trip to nevada and shoot your socks off with machine guns and tanks
Tree_killer_76@reddit
You can also fire a minigun at targets from a helicopter lol.
Ninngenyamemasuka@reddit (OP)
This is basically an army, lol

America has space, lots of land where if you pay enough to the right people you can do just about anything legally.
My state has an annual class that teaches people how to set up and detonate about 10 different kinds of explosives. You even get a certification at the end. Don't need a reason to take the class for a job or anything, you just pay for the weekend to blow shit up.
The USA would definitely be a great spot for anything firearms related. Gun Tourism is very much a thing and most shops along the coast and nearby will be prepared for and accommodate people.
Just call ahead to shops to ensure what is available and what you need to make it happen.
Ok-Fisherman-7688@reddit
Where is this? I’m interested…
mikemitch38@reddit
Please tell me more about explosives 101 LOL
joelfarris@reddit
Naw, Explosives 101 is, like, annual fireworks.
This is Explosives 105(mm).
currentlyhigh@reddit
In Texas you can pay to be taken up in a helicopter and hunt packs of feral hogs!
Obviously it would be a wildly unethical way to hunt IF feral hogs weren't a harmful invasive species.
Ninngenyamemasuka@reddit (OP)
Can you actually hit a tank? lol
tghost474@reddit
OP personally, I would avoid them unless if you’re planning to go to Vegas, they are wildly overly priced they’re playing machine gun ranges throughout the United States that you can rent for I think a lot cheaper. Battlefield Vegas is just a tourist trap.
maejaws@reddit
You can also try Drive Tanks in Texas where they have tanks you can drive and even artillery pieces.
annonimity2@reddit
You can shoot a tank at an old car, you can't shoot at a tank as far as I know.
AngryOneEyedGod@reddit
Yes, at Battlefield Vegas.
Andy_Liberty_1911@reddit
Decent deals for WWII packages, though their Thompson kept jamming lol (great fun).
AdSignificant6673@reddit
Expensive. try thailand
Oscar_callelle@reddit
What options do you have in Thailand?
FlakkySack@reddit
just be sure to bring a kidney to sell to afford not even half of it.
BoxofCurveballs@reddit
Switzerland was extremely easy to rent / shoot in. It was a faster and easier process to shoot rental guns at a range there than shooting my guns at a range in California.
Oscar_callelle@reddit
How much easier does it get than paying for a rental and buying their ammo? I’m in California as well and in the Central Valley you just need a ID, sign a waiver form if your a first time at the location, and then pay to shoot.
BoxofCurveballs@reddit
Walked in, signed out the firearm, got my ammo, shot, paid.
Oscar_callelle@reddit
Seems almost similar, but couldn’t tell you haven’t tried that location yet. Any restrictions on firearms there? I got to shoot the 50.cal for the first time at my range.
BoxofCurveballs@reddit
The place I went to was a small town in the mountains so the selection was limited, also it was an underground indoor range so they only had pistol caliber stuff. But ive seen people enjoying their giggle switches there
machu505@reddit
If you are considering a trip to the USA, keep in mind the current administration's attitude towards non-citizens. And then consider answering the nice airport ICE agents questions about why you are in the USA..To shoot guns.. Just a thought.
Ninngenyamemasuka@reddit (OP)
Yeah, that would definitely sound suspicious lol. I’ll just say I’m here to see the Statue of Liberty.
THROBBINW00D@reddit
Hawaii might be the least restrictive out of the bunch since it's a US state. They're restrictive by US standards but not so much the rest of the world.
Ninngenyamemasuka@reddit (OP)
Because guns are kind of associated with the U.S., it might be best to just go to America.
jfl561407@reddit
I’m in Florida, and as much as Florida sucks, you can drive a tank in Orlando and there’s places in most areas to shoot machine guns. Shit, there’s one in the middle of downtown Miami. One in Orlando/Kissimmee too. Wanna hunt? Tons of places around here that’ll take you hog hunting for under $300 including a rental gun. Wanna do it at night? They’ll give you night vision or thermal optics for around $500. Most will offer nighttime bobcat and coyote hunts too.
jwperry63@reddit
Machinegun America in Kissimmee closed, unfortunately.
mikemitch38@reddit
Hawaii is America and as such its gun laws are much more lax than most of the world. However, they’re still strict by US standards; no full auto, no pistols with magazines over 10 rounds. Like others are saying, if you really want to shoot machine guns and tanks you’re going to want to go to either Las Vegas, Texas, or Arizona.
Ninngenyamemasuka@reddit (OP)
Got it. Hawaii is pretty strict, huh. So the states you mentioned are pretty relaxed when it comes to gun laws, right?
AdUpstairs7106@reddit
For tourist purposes, the state of Nevada might be your best bet.
There are several shops right off the Vegas strip, where you can shoot belt fed machine guns or pay to shoot a mini gun from a helicopter.
Zippo963087@reddit
The most relaxed.
wondrouswop@reddit
There is a gun range or two in guam as well. At least there was when I was there a few years ago.
Feisty-Tadpole-5127@reddit
Come visit me I'll take ya to the range lol.
Jumpy-Imagination-81@reddit
Hawaii has some of the most strict and worst gun control laws in the country. Alaska is much better and is closer to Japan.
Ninngenyamemasuka@reddit (OP)
Japan is even worse. Not only real guns, but even airsoft guns can get you arrested if their structure or power is deemed illegal—they’re treated as actual firearms.
AD3PDX@reddit
Nevada
Senior-Contribution8@reddit
USA baby
EquipmentInside8623@reddit
Hawaii IS part of the United States but they’re not super big on guns over there.
Mountain_Man_88@reddit
I seem to recall Vietnam having some crazy options. I think they have ranges where you can rent an RPG.
MrPanzerCat@reddit
I think cambodia. Last i saw vietnam had some stuff but it was very very touristy/idiot proof. Ie they let you shoot a full auto ak but it was basically strapped down on a bench and you didnt hold it like you would normally
mattumbo@reddit
Cambodia is def the move, they let tourists handle weapons that would make an America blush. The safety and ethics of these ranges is maybe a bit suspect but still.
Maybe just don’t shoot the cow with the RPG, it’s a little fucked up
bren97122@reddit
Yeah man I don’t want to blow up an innocent cow with an RPG… I’ll pay them extra to wheel out some old junker car or something like that, though.
Zippo963087@reddit
Shit I need to get to Cambodia.
Maxxonry_Prime@reddit
There are places in the United States where you can drive a tank.
zakary1291@reddit
Las Vegas or Texas. If you want to shoot belt fed machine guns from a helicopter.... Go to Texas, there are plenty of ranches that previous this service.
Waja_Wabit@reddit
New York is a common place to visit for tourists outside the US. But be aware that you are not allowed to rent pistols there unless you have a permit. So I would not go to New York City expecting to do that.
ShriekingMuppet@reddit
Las Vegas, could shoot movie guns if you wanted.
Oscar_callelle@reddit
What is your budget, this is a very important question because you can shoot for cheap, or it can get expensive.
SakanaToDoubutsu@reddit
Thailand would probably be the best option between distance and accessibility, googling around it seems like there are a few ranges around Bangkok that cater to tourists and they will be less restrictive than Hawaii will be.
AmbivalentSamaritan@reddit
Hawaii has ranges on waikiki that cater to japanese tourists. They speak Japanese and you can fire a wide range of firearms
sumthingawsum@reddit
I'm in California and Japanese/ English bilingual. If you go to LA, I can recommend some spots. But you really should go to Vegas if you have the money.
rapitrone@reddit
You could visit my house in Ohio.
AspirantVeeVee@reddit
Let me tell you about the glorious place called The United States, specifica al the red states
MisanthropicNun@reddit
GO TO VEGAS
ProbablyNotaCar@reddit
Hawaii is a state so it will be the least restrictive, Guam is a territory though so they do have decent gun rights so you will likely be able to shot one at a range.
GetGoatedYourself@reddit
Drivetanks Uvalde Texas
GaGuRoShoMo@reddit
My first stop would be Texas, just for the meme alone. 😁
In Europe, Poland and the Czsch Republic come to mind.
giny33@reddit
Thailand has a big gun scene. Planning on doing a pistol competition there.
