She's right! If Honda would bring back the Element and the Fit, they'd be printing money.
fka_specialk@reddit
Especially in the age of car camping!
WigginIII@reddit
Recession indicator.
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
Tbf if you can afford a new Fit you ain't poor
untrustableskeptic@reddit
How do you buy a new Fit?... They stopped making the car six years ago.
Also, I bought my 2018 new for 18,500, making $50,000.
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
Live in Japan or Europe, other markets do exist. And a salary of 50k USD in 2018 is not poor dude, that's firmly middle class outside of a few cities.
untrustableskeptic@reddit
Too bad I lived in town... thus the Fit.
ConfusingCaulk@reddit
Brag more, why don't you. š
cedarvalleyct@reddit
Car living, for many š¬
PitchNorth3167@reddit
Also, the small Ford Ranger.
RealSunglassesGuy@reddit
Didnāt the Maverick fill that void?
PitchNorth3167@reddit
No, itās a lot bigger than the original Ranger.
HAD7@reddit
Going by Hondaās track record of reviving models, it would be trashed on by the community.
RealSunglassesGuy@reddit
Well the Fit still exists overseas (as the Jazz) so just bring it back here to the US. There is already even a hybrid version.
As for the Element, they just need to remember what made it so appealing in the first place. The VW bus looks cool, but it is almost TOO modern which makes it less functional...and much more expensive.
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
Apparently the 4th gen Jazz has lost some of the practicality (it's also auto and hybrid only outside of Japan).
RightSideBlind@reddit
I'd buy a PHEV Element in a heartbeat. I had to get rid of my Element because it couldn't tow a camper, and I've regretted that decision ever since.
NetWorried9750@reddit
I just got the camper installed as a pop top!
bikedork5000@reddit
And your dataset is what, the Prelude? And that's it? The Fit and Element are qualitatively different endeavors than a decades old enthusiast car that people remember through rose colored glasses.
HAD7@reddit
Prelude, Integra, rumored RSX, NSX
SonnyG696@reddit
Prelude & integra were two of the biggest fumbles considering both were more expensive repackaged civics. Art this point I expect the element to essentially be a rebadged crv with no interior amenities
plug_in_atheist72@reddit
Who knows. Theyād just need to really get what makes the Element so popular and not be lazy by giving us just a boxy HRV/CRV based crossover. Theres a larger market segment for lifestyle crossovers so maybe theyād actually try and invest real R&D into it?
bush_killed_epstein@reddit
Dude the fit is so underrated outside of Honda circles. I own a 2nd gen sport auto and itās so fun despite being automatic. Barring stop and go traffic I use the paddles almost 100% of the time. I put a sway bar on it and now itās super neutral if not oversteerey in corners.
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
I have literally never seen a negative comment about the Fit/Jazz on this sub, it's one of the cars that consistently gets people gushing. It's a somewhat sporty mini MPV that's got a lowish centre of gravity and it's primary rivals never made it to the US (the country that decides the English speaking zeitgeist), of course enthusiasts like it.
thetrappster@reddit
I took loved my first gen Fit Sport manual. Versatile, surprisingly fun to drive, awesome mileage. My only complaints were cabin noise and the headache of replacing headlight bulbs.
Gummyrabbit@reddit
My 2007 Fit still hanging in there. Iāve carried unbelievably large items in it. I even fit a ladder in it. I wish Honda would bring it back. Iād be first in line to get a new one.
RealSunglassesGuy@reddit
My 2010 is going strong. Aside from the AC dying twice and critters chewing through wires, no major issues.
ConfusingCaulk@reddit
I'm waiting on my '08 LX AWD with 160k on the clock to give up the ghost at any point here soon.
I would love to replace it with something just like it, albeit with more power, an off-road package, and some extra creature comforts. Don't need an EV; a hybrid V6, or even a 4-banger, with more than 200BHP and a decent AWD system would be perfect.
Pkock@reddit
Absolute gem of a take regarding the need for many modern cars to seemingly react, ping, and notify about EVERYTHING.
ConfusingCaulk@reddit
Unfortunately, it's a self-perpetuating cycle. Add nannies ~> people drive worse ~> add more nannies to protect those people from themselves ~> people drive worse, and so on.
There's a not-insignificant portion of the population who would be much better off with fully (or mostly) self-driving cars; much better for them AND us.
Astramael@reddit
Remember when Honda made, at the same time:
ConfusingCaulk@reddit
Prelude
A_Literal_6_Year_Old@reddit
Based on your list, this would apply to 2003-2005.
People love to talk about the late 80;s-90's as the golden age of honda, but they were really doing something special in the early 2000's as well.
Astramael@reddit
Yep, it seems like the 2008 financial crisis decimated Honda. Not quite sure how that all worked out, but itās very sad.

A Honda Element was the champion of the Coventry Festival.
There was a huge Phish festival on a farm in Vermont which was cancelled due to days and days of torrential rain leading up to it. But the fans said fuck that and abandoned their cars on the highway and walked 20 plus miles to the festival, so Coventry went ahead as planned. (It was an unmitigated disasterā¦That is a whole other story.)
Back to the Element. The grounds were mud bogs. Hundreds and hundreds of cars and trucks stuck in the mud in and around the grounds. This one field had lifted Tacomas, 4Runners, F150ās, you name it, stuck in the bog. This one brave insane person was driving their Honda Element and said āFuck it. Iām doing it.ā People started to gather to watch this Element try and make it across this giant mud bog field. This motherfucker just drove through that shit like it was nothing, passing all the big trucks and SUVs stuck in the mud. People were cheering this Element on and going apeshit when it made it across. It was the greatest thing I saw that whole week. Haha
iatekane@reddit
Awesome.
copy_run_start@reddit
I was wondering when Road and Track would do an in-depth 15-minute interview with the star of a show about stand up comedy that features a, uh
Chevy Bolt. Which, to this show, sounds kind of like its version of Brian's Supra or KITT or the Transformers Camaro.
strangway@reddit
I think it's rare for Hollywood stars to express strong opinions about cars that aren't super/hyper/exotic. It's refreshing, and I felt the same way about my first carāit's about freedom. Although she had a couple of Prius' after the Element, and now drives a Crown š.
copy_run_start@reddit
True, but the article is just an ad for the show. It's not a bad read or anything, but it's clearly a very low effort press tour ad for the show that's starting a new season.
strangway@reddit
Mission: accomplished. Now I know what to watch tomorrow. I just finished season 4 a few weeks ago.
copy_run_start@reddit
Glad it worked out haha. I'll say, if we're lacking anything in this world, it's more ads disguised as news.
strangway@reddit
Lol well she did start the interview by saying she didn't need to talk about the show at all, and didn't.
copy_run_start@reddit
Because the first words in the article were:
She's great and the show sounds good but this was a 15 minute phone call paid for by HBO and called "News" by R&T. I understand they have to pay the bills, but it's pure r/HailCorporate
TanguayX@reddit
Hi Hannah! We love you!
JALbert@reddit
Posting some highlights because it feels like most comments are ignoring the article
driftking428@reddit
The crown is disappointing.
Sesspool@reddit
None car person liking point a to point b car?
r_golan_trevize@reddit
Sounds like weāve got a level 7 susceptible!
Kongary@reddit
Always liked the Element and would love to see a true successor. Friend found a used base model with stick some years ago that was truly like the name, nicely elemental (not even A/C) and fun for it. Except for driving on the highway on a windy day apparently lol.
Valiant-For-Truth@reddit
I drive an 03 Element with 225k miles. I will never get rid of it as long as it drives.
a49991@reddit
The Honda element is so overrated.
Its max weight capacity is 675lbs. Itās not even technically supposed to haul 4 adults.
Itās a car with a larger body and no different than the modern CUVs that this sub hates.
HAD7@reddit
The cargo capacity is amazing. The rear seats can be folded against the side of the car
RightSideBlind@reddit
I absolutely loved being able to put two bikes in my Element without having to remove their front wheels.
a49991@reddit
Too bad after you have 2 people in there you run out of weight capacity for said cargo.
jse000@reddit
And yet a friend used one to haul his various bikes out for track days for years on end.
Beencho@reddit
Except that you can Stowe the seats down and create a perfect bed to smash you fuckin nerd.
a49991@reddit
Like every minivan ever?
Anteater_Reasonable@reddit
Why buy long minivan when short Element do trick?
Teledildonic@reddit
Yeah but u/a49991's mom is going to exceed the weight rating by herself.
Martinprizzle@reddit
Canāt beat that, my guy. ^
AmNoSuperSand52@reddit
It turns into a fuckin mini camper van
What more could you want, you utter troglodyte
a49991@reddit
Like you can do with any minivan?
AmNoSuperSand52@reddit
Whatās the length of your minivan
HeyyyyAbbott@reddit
Honda Element with a 2027 upgrade as an AWD EV and sliding second row doors would be fun to see.
RightSideBlind@reddit
I'd agree on the sliding second row doors. The only thing my wife didn't like about our Element was the rear suicide doors- getting someone in and out of the back seat was difficult in a parking lot. Great for opening up the interior, bad for loading.
Actual working rear row windows would be nice, too.
FourEyesAndThighs@reddit
You just described the 5 seater ID.Buzz.
Zoidburger_@reddit
I didn't even know this was a thing. Why tf did they even bother with the long wheelbase? The short wheelbase captures the soul of the VW Bus far better than the big-ass cinderblock that is the long wheelbase model.
FourEyesAndThighs@reddit
The entire launch of the car was a disaster. Itās supposed to evoke the original bus, which was very affordable and is heavily popular (along with over VW vans) for camper conversions.
Instead it is incredibly unaffordable for what you get, and has such a piddly EV range, youāre gonna be camping in your driveway.

She had a sick r107 Mercedes SL in her stand up special, cool that she likes two cars I've owned.

willpc14@reddit
First car was an Element (loved it), had a Prius, currently in a Toyota Crown, and hates modern safety features? I think Hannah might be an active commenter on r/cars.
NYPorkDept@reddit
Saving up money as a teenager to vinyl wrap your first car just to total it is extremely relatable
Optical_reality@reddit
the element was the first I ever been in
purz@reddit
Bikers dream. Iād get one as a beater for my outdoor activities if I didnāt live in the NE (lol frame rust). Great design for outdoor equipment without being obnoxiously large like a transit van. Iād be interested if they made a new one thatās 4wd.
ItsAndwew@reddit
Damn, what a title
copy_run_start@reddit
It's a Macan article. It keeps the lights on Road and Track so they can do the stuff they like (911 articles).
