been setting up automated testing that needs account creation across a few platforms. twilio keeps getting blocked and it's getting expensive. what are you actually using for this

I've been using the TempNumber extension for this lately. It's working well and it beats opening multiple tabs.

very simply I took and compared several options and analyzed which offers the best quality services.

Twilio gets flagged immediately because it's a known VoIP provider. Look into SMS-BUS. They have a full REST API for automated account creation and you only pay per successful SMS, so failed attempts don't waste your budget

I’ve had decent success with WantSMS lately, SIM-based numbers seem to get blocked less often than Twilio/VoIP for SMS verification.

I dont think twilio would work for sms verification because they provide voip numbers for different purpose. I use WantSMS for temporary and rental numbers for verification.

I’m using the tempNumber extension right now, it’s pretty cheap and saves me from opening a bunch of tabs

depends what you're verifying with. if it's google nothing works great because they specifically block voip. for most other stuff verifon.app has been solid, free to try for 15 min

Brother, u can spend actually like 0,1$ and get best temporary number. there're plenty of services, but if u ask the exact one I'd say "sms-man" pretty good in my opinion

Hi, did you get a solution?

yeah twilio is just not built for receiving OTPs, that's the core issue. switched to dedicated services and the blocking problem basically went away
Adventurous_Error866@reddit
twilio doesnt work on most sites because their numbers are VoIP they are for different purpose. SIM numbers for WantSMS works better.

I usually rotate between a few VoIP providers and occasionally use prepaid SIMs when things get blocked. It’s annoying, but spreading it out tends to work better than relying on one service.

Not sure this works for your use, but we found some services don't accept voip numbers like google voice, so we ended up buying a texting-only plan from US Mobile, getting the cheapest Android phone from them (like $50), and keeping that on a charger in the IT office. Works for my team and costs us about $8/month.

Mostly google accounts and some social.Tried a few services, HeroSMS API was the easiest to integrate tbh. Docs are straightforward, no weird rate limits

1001SMS is a solution.

Honestly just benchmark a few services yourself, activation rates vary a lot by platform and country. What works for one use case might not for another

We have several dedicated and shared SMS enabled numbers in teams via our OC partners.
MegaSuplexMaster@reddit
Depends on your phone system but we use zoom phones and they allow to add extra phone numbers for SMS verfication.
