If Bosnia wasn't under austrian control during the Balkan Wars would bosniaks also be sent back to Türkiye?

I don’t think so. It’d be like Albania but with much more bloodshed.
Kitsooos@reddit
Nah. They would have been sent off to Turkey. The Albanians were very war oriented and they also kinda played all sides. That's why they managed to remain in the Balkans.
The Bosniaks were none of the above.
DeltaObserve@reddit
Well it was a part of Austria at the time, if the conditions were met; they’d fight for themselves too. I can’t help but feel that’s what you wished to see though.

I couldn't care less. I'm Greek. Bosniaks are not even that many and Bosnia is too far away for me to care.
As I said though, Bosniaks were few, they were not that war-oriented and they were VERY loyal to the Sultan. All their eggs were in the Ottoman basket. When the Ottoman rule in the region ended, it was over for them. If it wasn't for Austria, Bosniaks wouldn't exist.
The Albanians were war-ish, loyal only to their clan and they were many. From Morea all the way to Montenegro.

What do you mean “back to Turkey” ?
Outrageous_Lion3348@reddit
Probably OP doesn’t know history so I wouldn’t care what he says. It sounds like ragebait. I know exactly what he thinks though Muslim equals Turk that’s so wrong
Sensitive-Emu1@reddit
I mean, that's not his fault. Europe acted that way.

what

One sided deportations (also known as ethnic cleanings) at such a scale are simply not feasible.
The reasons why the population exchange between Greece and Turkey (also ethnic cleansing but this time mutual) worked was that each deported population was replaced with an incoming population deported from the other side. Meaning not a lot of cities, towns or villages were left desolate for extended periods.
That would have not been the case with Bosnia, there was no incoming population that would have replaced the Bosnians.

Greece? Bulgaria deported muslims to Turkey until 1950's if I'm not mistaken.
Zekieb@reddit
The Turks that were deported only constituted a relatively small part of Bulgaria's population. And even today Bulgarian Turks make up a good chunk of the wider population (around 8%).
Eymael-78@reddit (OP)
Didn't muslims made up the majority in Bulgaria in ottoman times?
Zekieb@reddit
No, only some cities and regions had a Muslim plurality or even majority. But Bulgaria has a whole remained largely Orthodox Christian.
Haristotel1@reddit
Why would we go back to Turkey. That is same to say Chinese people go back to Japan. Before Ottoman empire, every Bosnian King was Bosnian curch not Ortodox or Catolics. Last quinn converted to Catolics but Pope doesnt save her. We are natove in Bosnia, but Croats and Serbs not. Most of Serbs populated Bosnia by Otomman empire and Croats by Austria.
Repulsive_Work_226@reddit
At least 30% of Turkiye has direct Balkan ancestry whether Serbian Albanian Bosnian or mostly Turkish or Turkified Balkan people. So millions already settled to Anatolia
baxulax@reddit
Yes
whiteoba@reddit
Back to Turkiye implies we were from there, which we weren’t, so a better term would be ethnically cleansed to Turkiye. But conditions were much better under Austria than everywhere else in the Balkans so yes many more would’ve been either killed or in Turkiye.

They are natives in the land I don’t think there were any options for that.
