This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all week 😂😂😂
SteppenAxolotl@reddit
My local supermarket has signs up for associates at $16/hr.
SteppenAxolotl@reddit
My local supermarket is looking for associates for $16/hr.
jadedshibby@reddit
I hope they get exactly what they pay for and they end up with a $100k piece of equipment getting totaled. The only person taking this job is that old lady that stopped the school bus on the railroad tracks in florida.
1morepl8@reddit
Compound pay. Really good chance the actual wage adds up. I had a job like this where wait time started at 17/hr, but also mileage, hooks and drops etc. So ended up making over 30. I've never seen pay that shitty in food service.
AreaLeftBlank@reddit
This is exactly how it works. I worked for PFG and had component pay. It broke down like this.
First 50 miles- .80c/mile 51-100 miles- .65/mile 100+-.40
Box pay was something like 10c/per Tote pay was like 25c/ per
Then bonus for toes brought back.
I was making over 100k a year. The only time hourly pay was considered was for vacation and holiday pay.
MoosiePie22@reddit
I mean with compound pay lets say you drive 60 miles in one hour being shuttle driver with .35 cents a mile thats 21 dollars an hour plus the 16 dollars for base hourly that’s 37 hours sounds pretty damn good
k11ng_vi5chu5@reddit
Krazzii part is that out here in WA where I am, the US Foods I used to work for is Union, and someone with high seniority had this Position, and would get mad if someone else got it, so I would say it can get better if someone that has been with the Company for a long time, and has had this position for a while will get Visibly Upset if someone else got it, but who knows this was in WA, this Position is in VA..
Different coasts, and States.
Super_flywhiteguy@reddit
$16 an hr non driving or $16 an hr for everything? If for everything hell nah.
bizzywhipped@reddit
But you get the hot sauce for free
Redsoxdragon@reddit
That's the base pay.
Us foods does this weird shit where they're give you a component pay mixed with miles and stop pay. You'll still make 6 figures, but you gotta break your back harder than a sysco guy just to make his money
tributarybattles@reddit
West violinist didn't read the whole ad.
.35c p/m plus 16.00 hour
TKOxBLITZ@reddit
No way y’all actually believe that it’s just a flat rate of $15.95 per hour with nothing else on top…
NakedAggression@reddit
...is this bait or can you not read lmao
TheBeerHunter78@reddit
Nobody going to mention the part where it says you start at 18-23:00 every night and run until the sun comes up?
robexib@reddit
Which usually means you're planned to the nines with not even enough time to piss during.
I have a lot of complaints about my current job, but it's much better than whatever this shit heel's offering
AndromedanPrince@reddit
😂😂😂😂😂
Kershaws_Tasty_Ruben@reddit
Wawa pays more to start. Lemme rephrase this: Wawa pays more to part time high school students for an after school job than this.
Difficult_Chemical_6@reddit
US Foods driver are known for making 100k plus. This says $15.95 plus component pay. On the left it says .35 a mile. Surely you all don’t believe it’s actually only paying $15.95 an hour
Interesting-Spend965@reddit
Confused cause food service is six figure a year job. I feel like the ad’s wrong or missing additional wage info
oasuke@reddit
Not at McLane it isn't.
Ornery_Ads@reddit
I don't know how they pay, but the "plus component pay" os probably a lot.
Most food service places add like $50 per stop and $0.10 per piece. You often only work 6 hours, but get 8 hours base plus $200-$400 in component pay.
Megalodon7770@reddit
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fatguy503@reddit
There is more to this than just $16 an hour.
Redithyrambler@reddit
Yeah I guess just completely ignore the "plus component pay" in bold letters to make it agree with your outrage.
Trappin4DaSport@reddit
can make that taking orders at chic fila 💀
geneticdeadender@reddit
I think you also get paid a share of what you haul. The checks are real complicated and you'll need an accountant to understand tgem but the weight, number of boxes, number of stops all come with extra pay.
Also, food service companies have a strangle hold on restaurants all over the US.
It is probably much better money but you will hustle to get it. There will be no "no touch" freight on that job.
SkribbyCakes33@reddit
I’m not familiar with USFoods but sounds like you’re referring to the delivery drivers whereas shuttles are usually focused more on the moving of trailers (yard guys that go farther yeah?). Most don’t touch any freight but drop and hook a ton.
polarjunkie@reddit
I don't know if this is the case but a place by me pays 15 an hour and 32 cents per mile per trailer. If you're pulling doubles you're getting 64 cents a mile plus $15 an hour which is 50 to $55 an hour with doubles and 30 to 35 with a single trailer.
Physical-Standard-69@reddit
Hey, that’s in my area! I keep seeing box truck delivery for them, I think. Definitely no thanks.
Washedhockeyguy@reddit
That’s why I’m back in school now getting an accounting degree. I love trucking but these wages are only going to get worse
TruthfulRepugnance@reddit
Thats 'so it's okay if I hit shit?' wages.
United_News3779@reddit
For $16? You can remove the question mark on that sentence.... "So it's ok if I hit shit!" Lol
MarmotWorldOrder@reddit
Swift allows you to hit shit three times in 12 month span before they fire you. You'll still average more than this with no endorsements.
OneMulatto@reddit
McLane Foods paid me about 30 an hour back in 2016 to do the same between Shawnee and St Peter's and back. Daily. 4x a week with weekends off Mondays were my day off so Tues thru Fri. I remember clearly because I was actually on a load when Trump was elected the first time. I will always remember specifically where I was because my gf at the time called me the moment he was elected and she was balling her eyes out.
Maybe she was onto something back in 2016.
Anyway James later fired me for clocking out drunk basically. Waited at the St Peter's location until I got home from the route and hit me with a "we're doing a random" so I was like "OK I don't do drugs" and he said "I know. I can smell the alcohol though. Whiskey?"
He was fucking right.
last_somewhere@reddit
That's like $27 in country. Maybe 10 years ago it would be nice, definitely not now it's not much more than minimum wage.
Baconated-Coffee@reddit
You're missing an answer to an important question. What is the component pay and how much is it?
jmzstl@reddit
Looked it up on their website, and at the bottom it says the additional components is 35cpm and $20 per drop and hook plus OT after 40 hours a week.
Looks like about 115 miles from Midlothian to the distribution center in Manasas. The drivers probably do a double turn, so that’s 460 miles for $161. Figure it’s about a 10 hour shift, so another $160 in hourly pay. Assuming the $20 drop and hook pay is split as $10 for each hook and another $10 to drop, that would be $80 to pull 4 trailers on a double turn.
So we’re at about $400 for a 10 hour shift, not counting OT.
peffer32@reddit
Shuttle drivers don't get component pay. That's for delivery drivers. US Foods drivers where I am get $40/hr. plus component pay. Something isn't right with this ad.
Baconated-Coffee@reddit
It also says 35 cpm. Do shuttle drivers get paid both hourly and mileage?
peffer32@reddit
Where I am it's union so it's all hourly. I drove shuttles the last year before I retired and it was close to $40/hr two years ago with OT after eight. They got around a 9% raise in the last contract so it's more now. I realize wages can be lower and union membership is less likely in the south but I find it hard to believe this ad is legit. You can work at McDonalds for more.
potatocross@reddit
May as well take that chipotle job
Ill-Establishment803@reddit
16$ for doubles thats gotta be illegal
TaperingRanger9@reddit
That's literally below minimum wage where I live wtf 🤣 absolutely insulting.
