Can the experts help me with my Weetabix?

Although ingenious packaging is appreciated, I struggle every day to get my weetabix out of the tube/column without getting wheat flakes everywhere.... are there any tips you might have to extract my weetabix without making an absolute hash of it?

Whoa - that's next level ! thanks - that never occured to me.

Could also chop the top off, then wedge your thumbs underneath the biscuit and wiggle it up.

I suspect the wiggling portion is where I generate the flakes

Unfortunately I think Hotel Chocolat have changed the tin design.

The rectangular storage container from IKEA fits beautifully.

I might have to take my 'Bix to the shops in order to get the correct container configuration...

The number of amateurs here!
You treat your Weetabix like you'd treat any other biscuit. Don't tear the packet! That's the direct route to crumb city. Instead, just open the top, and shuffle the biccies out over your bowl. Any crumbs will end up in the bowl, zero wastage.
It's not that hard.

I have tried tearing, strategically snipping, slicing packet horizontally and also vertically... plus many other configurations in order to extract them tidily. Thus far, not a success story but I've seen several container re-assignments that might solve the core issue for me. Must try but all suggestions and techniques are most welcome!

You don't need to tear or cut anything! Just open the top of the packet, the very top. Unfold the two flaps and open them, then all the crumbs stay inside. Shuffle the biccies out, and roll up the packet to keep the remaining ones sealed.

evidently it is the shuffling out phase which is creating the conundrum... I am perhaps not as patient as I need to be.

I tip the tube upside down over the bowl...
HappyCamper2320@reddit (OP)
tried, but sadly flakes tumble to each side.

You're looking at this the wrong way. You need your weetabix to be in a form you expect and can come to terms with. Put the column of weetabix into a bin bag. Go outside. Jump up and down on the bin bag. Now you have a homogenous product which you can add the required amount of milk to. Enjoy!

But how do you potion out “three.”
HappyCamper2320@reddit (OP)
Precisely. thank you.
Historical_Project86@reddit
You're thinking of Shredded Wheat, you animal.

Holding the open end In the bowl is a good start, then separate your bricks one by one with your thumb and let them fall in the bowl too
whizzzzzzz@reddit
The first was always the hardest. Cutting the packet one bickit ( GNU PTerry ) below the top, got the first one out reasonably easily, then upending the packet and gently shaking the next one or two out seemed to work for me.

Honestly i just do it over the sink, or in the garden at my parent's place.

I've tried to train my cats to show interest in the stray flakes ont he floor but no success to date.

My dog has accepted his fate, if he cleans up the crumbs he gets the end of the banana (no euphemism intended)

You need to get yourself out from under the jackboot of big bisk! The underground awaits you. Follow the white rabbit…

Slow and steady wins the race.

Ah yes, but that is not always a morning option. I wasn't sure if there was a hidden technique I was missing, hence approaching the SME's
Intelligent-SoupGS88@reddit
Smash the package with a rolling pin and pour them out like cornflakes.
HappyCamper2320@reddit (OP)
true ..but that nullifies their careful portioning...
Brilliant-Figure-149@reddit
I usually carefully peel back a bit more of the paper, shake any loose flakes out into the bowl, extract the requires number of bisks, repeat the shaking out of loose flakes into the bowl then wrap the short bit of paper neatly.
Although that gets most of the loose flakes into the bowl, it doesn't prevent a load collecting in the bottom of the box.
HappyCamper2320@reddit (OP)
It seems that my error is in the shaking process as this is where the flakes go astray.
EverybodySayin@reddit
I normally just rip the paper inside the box so all the flakes fall in the box.
HappyCamper2320@reddit (OP)
it certainly seems that the flakes end up either in said box, or on countertop. some stragglers float to the floor too.
IntelligentCitron917@reddit
Must just be me, I crumble them into a tub so it's just a big box of flakes to pour
MrReadilyUnready@reddit
Buy a cereal box for it. Let the flakes collect at the bottom and add them in at the end.
fallen_kangel@reddit
embrace the flakes, lick em off the counter afterwards
