Beautiful sailing in the Cyclades last summer

New to sailing. Doing exam soon!!. one of my goal is to sail in greece, i m quite close... but that sea scares me a bit.

Go for it! It shouldn't scare you as long as you know what you're doing.
Greece (and many places in the Med) can get pretty rough. It's a body of water squeezed between the heath of Africa and the colder mountains to the north... recipe for some interesting weather patterns.

Gorgeous. This awakens something in my soul :) Footage like this makes me desperate to get out onto the water ⛵️

Same. Tilted and moving sets my soul right

Thanks, same here so had to share it!!
What's stopping you?
bryangcrane@reddit
Looks beautiful! Also a little spicy out there :-)
Nice boat, btw :-)

Thanks! Yes, a bit overpowered as it turned out.
bryangcrane@reddit
Yeah — I caught your comment about blowing out the genny.
I had a 110 explode during a race once.
Never been prouder of our crew to get the shredded sail down and a new one up from the sewer and flying again in mere moments.
Such fun team work!

Gheesh I miss sailing !! Thanks for the video.

nice, Cyclades can be rough this time of year.
FrontierYachting@reddit (OP)
Well this time (spring) it's usually calm, it's during the summer months that the Meltemi blows. Juli and August mostly!

I grew up sailing the Med with my father. The colours and light of this make me feel really at home, in ways I cannot fully describe in writing. It’s ‘my’ place (in the sense I feel weirdly at home, not to exclude anyone else).
FrontierYachting@reddit (OP)
I totally 100% get what you're trying to describe. Not to mention the music in the background that goes with it.. Right in the feels.
Totally hope you make it back to somewhere in/on the Med real soon! See you out there!

Having married a girl born on the Dolomite mountains that gets seasick just looking at the boats bobbing in the harbour is kind of a showstopper. So please please do feed us with these great videos from times to times :) :) Ciao from Rome, Italy

So jelous! My boat is still on the hard covered in snow 😞
FrontierYachting@reddit (OP)
This is a video from last season, mine is on the hard too, going back to Greece in a few weeks!

nice to relax on journey-
FrontierYachting@reddit (OP)
For a while yes, but between the islands the wind accellerates and the relaxing was short-lived.
7marlil@reddit
How many knots of wind there?
FrontierYachting@reddit (OP)
Don’t remember exactly but would estimate around 30 given the size of the genoa, which I reef at anything over. 2 hours later we tore the genoa in half at 40+ knots of wind (old EPEX sail was worn and due for replacement anyways)
