Let me know if this GPU upgrade (and upgrade plan) makes sense!?

Hi guys, i currently have a build with i7 12700F (which is still a good cpu in my opinion), and a rtx 3060ti which is now become really limited for 1440p. I would like to buy an rx 9070 xt so that i 2-3 years I can upgrade to AM5 and still mantain the gpu that i buy now. But I’m concerned: does it makes sense? Will the i7 12700F be able to manage the rx 9070 xt?

Yes it will be fine.
Games at 1440p are gpu limited mostly

Thx mate

It will, but low 1% figures will be bad, depending on how fast your ram is.

Unfortunately that’s the weakpioint of the build cause I got 24gb of ddr4 running in flex mode at 3200mhz… but ram is really impossible to buy right now

Make sense if you're getting the 16GB Vram version, not the 8GB. At 1440p high/ultra settings the system consumes 10-12 GB VRA averaged so 8GB isn't enough. Also consider RTX 5070/5070 Ti if you don't want to spend times reinstalling Drivers.

Yes def getting a 16gb, i’m looking to buy the xfx mercury OC. Also from my understanding 5070ti performs just a little better but it shines with RT and DLSS but for me it doesn’t justify that 300 euros difference.

Your CPU is still very good. It can definitely handle an rx 9070xt. If I had to rank CPU's (IMO).
S+ Rank
S Rank
A+ Rank
