Why do yall want to go to Europe so badly?

^(I get that you sometimes want to explore different country's but i see a lot of Americans speaking about Paris, like going there would cure all of their disease's, and an random French man would pick you up, and carry you to the moulin rouge, to have sex with you. Also if you're not rich and live in Europe, you're live is just straight up miserable, like i am from eastern Europe and I'm lower middle class, and living here is straight up miserable, also i have moved to the Netherlands, where half the people i see are upper class, and it feel's miserable being the only one who doesn't have a game room, 3 weekend cars, and a nice suburban house. I would also kill to live in any place in the US.)

Public transit, new experiences, history, food, culture, art…
CharterAnAccountant@reddit
Ah, public transit
One-Grapefruit1922@reddit
I’m so fr … I’m 19 and I would love to travel more in the US but I can’t rent a car for another 6 years until I’m 25. Most of the usa is soooo car dependent unless you’re in NYC or maybe Boston. Uber is an option but I don’t really like taking them tbh. On the other hand in Europe I was there for 2 months and got everywhere I needed to go with no car or Ubers. Just the trains!
purplehorseneigh@reddit
forget all the crap you just wrote, OP why are all your letters so tiny?
Wooden-Variety175@reddit
I dont
Professional-Pungo@reddit
lol I’d never want to live in Europe. Vacation may be nice but to live there? No way
zero_and_dug@reddit
So do you prefer China then?
Professional-Pungo@reddit
Nah I’d prefer the US for many reasons. China is not bad though and they pay expats pretty well
eirissazun@reddit
Bro, most people in the Netherlands or Denmark, Germany, whatever Western/Central European country) son't have a "game room" either, never mind the rest of that.
NaPeXgd@reddit (OP)
Yea but still a lot of people in those country's who are quite well off, like mw and my family lives in an 2 story house, which has the structural integrity of an 1st grade relationship, and always the smell of mold, while our neighbor and his family lives in an 3 story house that's well renovated, and they have like 3 Mercedes amg cars.

People who go to Paris on vacation are not lower middle class. Therefore, they have access to experiences which would not be available to people who have more modest budgets. You cannot see what they see because you're not having the same experience. Also, France is very different from the Netherlands and Eastern Europe, which you mentioned
Legitimate-Log-6542@reddit
Can you ask the French man to be gentle when he has sex with me? I’m a straight male and it’d be my first
NaPeXgd@reddit (OP)
I'll try and work something out.

History, architecture, culture….just a few reasons

Those are the main ones. I’ve only been to Europe once, and it was some of the weirdest little details that blew me away—trees in city parks that are older than my whole nation, remnants of centuries old irrigation running along a trail up to a castle, intricate craftsmanship that’s stood the test of time and evaded destruction through countless wars.
We don’t have that shit in the US.

Not counting some truly magestic, sacred sights which came from our Native American population, nothing in this country is older than five hundred years old. Our country was only established ~250 years ago.
I’ve visited places in France, Italy, and Greece that were built two thousand years ago or more. London, Paris, Marseille, Rome, Athens and so many more places have a sense of history and culture that is truly special.

History is a big part of it for me. Here the oldest buildings we have go back to the late 1600s/1700s and that’s primarily in the northeastern part of the country. On the Midwest/western side, the oldest is typically late 1800’s/early 1900s. When I went to England it was wild to see buildings that were built in the 1400’s and have that be a pretty normal thing.

I am American and live in the UK. There are a few things here - firstly there's a reason that you have to describe this using hyperbole rather than an actual description, and that's because the actual description is quite reasonable, Europe is absolutely full of great tourist destinations for Americans. Second, people who visit Europe for tourism aren't living there like a lower middle class local, they're there as a tourist visitor, which is a very different experience. Last, respectfully, you as someone from Eastern Europe should know that the continent is basically the exact opposite of a monoculture and different regions in Europe, different countries in those regions, and different regions within those countries, are totally different experiences to live in and visit. You can't really say that visiting Paris is bad because living in Eastern Europe is bad or because living under the median in Netherlands is bad. They're different experiences.

I hate the idea of going anywhere. I'd much rather be kept in my cage, where I've got a trough full of gravy, sixteen Gideon Bibles, and where I'm subject to the constant blaring of the national anthem.
On days where I'm good and don't sob much, my handlers will make me freedom fries.

Cause travel is fun. Plus it lets you appreciate what you have at home. I hope your own situation improves.
chinchillazilla54@reddit
All my friends live there.
RealAssociation5281@reddit
All the stuff everyone else mentioned and the idea that it’s a bit less of a cultural shock over some other countries. English is also spoken in a lot of these areas, which helps people make decisions regarding traveling.

Same here. Living in Belgium and I mean what's so special about Europe? Nothing. It's the same everywhere and expensive asf
jang437@reddit
Europe is lit

Some people like seeing new things. Crazy right?
ClickClick_Boom@reddit
I don't.
