If I was driving your truck in this situation, I would have been going slower and seen that old mate ahead didn't know what the fuck was happening and then slowed down even more.

One of my favorite things to do when going through single lane construction zones like this and I see drivers like you run up on me is to slow down and do the exact speed limit, maybe one or two under.

I was in a 10+ mile single lane construction zone last year. Id seen cops sitting in that zone quite a bit so i always had cruise set at speed limit. Dude came barreling through and caught up to me, started flashing his lights at me. I dropped 5 below. Then he left the brights on. I dropped to 10 below. Did that for maybe 15 seconds, i flashed my lights real quick. He relented, turned his brights off, and we happily went the speed limit the rest of the way. Small victories like that just give me so much pleasure.

Still man you have to track with what the traffic is doing when lanes get that tight. I'll do 5 over in an inactive and if I'm not passing anyone but you're easily going 15-20 faster than those trucks you're passing.

I’m not sure what drivers think they’re going to save by not slowing down for several miles in a construction zone. OP, don’t be part of the problem out here man. This isn’t a personal attack, I don’t know you obv, and trust me I ain’t perfect. I did dumb shit early in my career as well. But you will have a far more relaxed, and much safer career if you stop pushing it especially in situations like this. Yes I’m aware of what the other trucks behaved like. But you put yourself in that situation by going that fast in narrow lanes. Stop rolling the dice. It’s dangerous enough out here. First of all, the truck limit on I94 in Michigan is 65 so clocking 70 is on the verge of spicy to begin with. 94 fucking sucks. It’s too narrow and busy for 5 over especially as you get to Detroit-Windsor.
Secondly, you’re driving through a narrow-ass reversal and lane split in an active construction zone where the flow of traffic is about 45. I haven’t been through recently so I don’t know what the posted limit is but I’m willing to bet it’s probably below 50.
Smarten the fuck up, bud. Screw it up to 70 all ya want in free flowing traffic, but in construction zones back out of it.

Paranoid about flock cameras but you carry a supercomputer from the 90's in your pocket that has three cameras two microphones five accelerometers and gps tracking accurate to within two feet in your pocket or on your person that's constantly recording and sending data to dozens of companies that all cooperate with the government and its agencies.
Slow the hell down in construction zones and maintain proper following distance. I don't do more than two over in them or more than five over in general traffic and it's easily saved other peoples lives and my own career half a dozen times in less than a year.
