One time I got a little token inside a box of Rice Chex that said I had won a VHS copy of The Lion King. Still one of the highlights of my childhood.
dumpsterfiremktg@reddit
I got a miniature pinball machine from a box of Cracker Jacks. Lunacy!

ChexQuest . Fantastic, cereal based Doom clone .

The wall crawling spiders that stained the walls.

Wacky wall walkers!
MegaRadCoolDad@reddit
I came to say this
skysmurf@reddit
Yes thanks I forgot what they were called.
ewdavid4856@reddit
Remember those stinky ass wall walkers that smelled like straight chemicals -- we were allowed to dig a smelly ass wacky wall walker out of a box of cereal AND WE LOVED IT
Quizleteer@reddit
I couldn’t get enough of those 🤩
melvinmel@reddit
Wait, it was a spider? I thought it was an octopus!

Do you guys remember Dr. Fad? He had a sweater covered with them.

He invented them.

Let's... take a walk on the wacky side
allthelittlepiglets@reddit
I was so excited to see wacky wall walkers listed here first. Best toy of all!
Hammerhandle@reddit
I still have the set of General Mills plushies from 1998 unopened. I don't know why I've kept them for so long, but they're holed up in a tote in my basement.
PlagueDrWily@reddit
One of these Transformers lenticular cards (I think it was Kickback); this one and the wacky wall walkers were probably the most memorable cereal prizes I can recall, the rest were mostly stickers.
SweatyPalmsSunday@reddit
I remember really liking these glow in the dark stickers. I think they were monsters? Can’t recall what cereal it was.
I do remember an iron on decal of the honey smacks bear I wanted very badly. I didn’t even like Honey smacks but I asked for it for this prize. I tried to iron it in myself but having never ironed a thing before, it went horribly wrong and I wrecked it.

I had to save 3 or 5 upc codes from i believe lucky charms to send away for a baby pine tree. I was so excited, planted it up north around my parents friends cottage and checked on it each year. I watched it grow for about 20 years ( I was an enthusiast earth keeper as a child) until the property sold and new owners clear cut that entire spot of forest. I'm still sad about it.

The little plastic boson's whistle from Capn Crunch.
The one that, if you blew it into a phone it would let you make long distance calls for free.
They were made famous by a hacker called Whistle...or the Phone Phreaks...can't remember which. I think Whistler could do it without the plastic whistle. He would just pucker up and blow.
The dude got busted in college. At frat parties, he would set everyone up with free calls.
BlueSnaggleTooth359@reddit
Not in the box exactly, but on the box, UPC codes, where you could send in a bunch and get back a special Star Wars action figure.
Super_Direction498@reddit
Used to be able to get a job in a cereal box prize

Slightly different but does anyone remember when Pizza Hut ran a promo where (with purchase) you could choose like 5 songs and they’d send you a custom CD?

There was a little plastic Tony the Tiger that you could put in a 2 liter bottle filled with water. When you squeezed the bottle, the Tony sank to the bottom. And when you released it, he rose to the top. Idk why, but that shit mesmerized me
PhysicsStock2247@reddit
I loved that thing. They’re called Cartesian divers and you’re right, it’s mesmerizing to watch that little tiger bob up and down.

C-3P Ohs (spelling?), a licensed Star Wars cereal, had these little 3-piece plastic rockets. You squeezed them together and the air pressure would send the cap flying, but I played and played with that dumb little thing.
GoldTreasureFinder@reddit
Honeycomb cereal cassette tape: I remember one song for sure, Crocodile Rock by Elton John. I would put the tape in a walkman and get on the recumbent bike and rock out as a kid.
Ltimbo@reddit
I was strangely fascinated with this Tony The Tiger diver that would sink when you put it in a 2 liter bottle with water and squeeze it.
FethB@reddit
I didn’t get it straight out of a cereal box, so I suppose it doesn’t count, but I remember using a proof of purchase to send away for a cassette single.
HangryHangryHedgie@reddit
The color changing Simba cereal spoon.
slithyknid@reddit
I don’t remember if it was a prize in the box or just the cutout from the box itself- but Ghostbusters cereal had a series of holographic pictures that I adored. My husband says he got a whistle that (unintentionally) let you crack into phones via the tone- might have been Cracker Jacks, not cereal? But I still think this might be the winner lol
Notredamus1@reddit
Not a cereal box but a chips ahoy package. I won WWF Wrestlemania for NES. I remember it took a long time for it to arrive and the game ended up being terrible.
Smoky1279@reddit
It's a tie between Rollercoaster Tycoon and Backyard Baseball.
apolydas1@reddit
Dragon warrior on the NES. Although we got it from sending in upc labels, so maybe not a prize?
0uchmyballs@reddit
I got Han Solo dressed as a storm trooper after sending in some box tops to General Mills. It took them like a year to mail it to me but I got it.

Honeycomb cereal had these suction cup ninja stars stars, like 8 suction cups, and they worked really well.
Captain Crunch had these 6 inch wide half inch tall, flat tops that spun amazingly well.
Captain Crunch once had a tiny working boomerang that I was too stupid to figure out.
All the toys were better than the current McDonald's happy meal toys.
LilBrutButt@reddit
I assume it was cocoa puffs, but got a pack of chocolates shaped like/packaged like/texture of starburst.
Relative-Gas-1721@reddit
Robot alien themed bike reflectors that you would clip onto the spokes of your bike wheels. I convinced my mom to buy me some kind of sugar cereal I wasn’t allowed to have to get one. It wasn’t in the box, so she made me write a letter to Kellogg’s explaining the situation. About six months later an envelope appeared in the mailbox with two robot alien bike reflectors along with an apology note.

mistyjc@reddit
Same - saved the UPC codes and received a ‘92 Olympics Dream Team (kinda) windbreaker w/their pictures and signatures on it! Wore it until it was falling apart…
