What’s an EV you loved but didn’t end up buying?

I don't know much about cars, so when I was looking at EVs I kinda ended up discounting some brands just because of a few bad stories from friends or family. Or I'd go in and take a look and something didn't feel right, y'know? Bad vibes. I'm wondering if people more familiar with cars have similar gut feelings or if it's all in my head lol
GryphonGuitar@reddit
I was quite enamored with the cyberpunk aesthetic of the Ioniq 5 when it first came out. I was seriously considering one but it didn't work out timing wise. I still think about that car sometimes.
Meinnocenthaha@reddit
Ev9. third row was uncomfortable and too small for my kids
Best_Market4204@reddit
I agree. I was hoping for something more from that one.
Turn the carnival into a ev. Now that be cool 😎
Meinnocenthaha@reddit
We ended up buying the id buzz. im enjoying it soo much 😁
Best_Market4204@reddit
Glad you like it.
thisismydayjob_@reddit
I think they are doing that? Had a lot of fun in the old Sedonas.
Best_Market4204@reddit
They are indeed making a van ev but not the carnival design.
It's called pv5. Looks like a idbuzz..
Syris3000@reddit
Tesla. Fuck musk man. It's a great car but I can't give him my money. Bought a Ford lightning and love it so much.
JEMColorado@reddit
It’s strange to me that the Lighting generated so much hate. It seemed like a good idea. On the other hand, now I might be able to snag a used one for cheap!
Lower_Kick268@reddit
Used ones are very cheap, but with how expensive power is and that gas is getting ready to start going down it likely won't really be cheaper than a gas truck to drive.
Syris3000@reddit
Where I live electricity on a time of use plan is 17 cents or less at night.
JEMColorado@reddit
Has where I live is pushing $4.00/gal.
Lower_Kick268@reddit
Yeah and it will go back down, straits open now, before the war gas in NJ near me was like 2.45 per gallon, now its like $4, as long as it stays around $3 or less when it goes back down my Suburban or the Turbomax will be cheaper to drive as a daily.
Quesadillasaur@reddit
I've had a model S for a couple years and calling it great seems like a bit of a stretch. Interior feels so cheap and just feels like there's no soul to it i don't quite know how to explain it. It looks nice, but that's about the only positive I have for it.
Lower_Kick268@reddit
Their not really luxury cars, they're premium cars, an economy car that's nice, like a Saab.
Quesadillasaur@reddit
You know what the sound system isn't bad, I'll give you that. While I personally wouldn't call a 90k vehicle an economy car, I just didn't expect things at that price point to be falling apart as much as they do I guess. The wife likes driving it though, so it's been staying around lol
Lower_Kick268@reddit
Youre paying for the tech and connectivity more or less, if you want a true luxury EV you get the lucid.
WizeAdz@reddit
The F150 Lightning and the ID.Buzz.
I like both vehicles a lot, but the range numbers didn’t fit my use-case for either one no matter how much I like them as vehicles and think they should exist.
Rough_Cancel7265@reddit
I don't love any car, but I did really like the new Charger. If I had regular multi hour drives I needed to do, that would be what I'd go for.
lItsAutomaticl@reddit
Ford Mustang Mach E. Amazing product for the price (used) but their windshields have light distortion / wobble /beer goggle effect and make me nauseous. I sat in several and they all had the same problem. I just couldn't take it.
phatduckk@reddit
I was really excited by the VW Buzz when it was revealed. But by the time it came out I was over it
Best_Market4204@reddit
Volkswagen 100% slacking on their ev technology.
Lower_Kick268@reddit
What isn't VW slacking at in 2026? Their cars suck, the tech sucks, they're not really reliable anymore, their fun models are old and overpriced, it's like VW forgot who they were selling cars to.
Best_Market4204@reddit
1000% agree.
The atlas decign is nice but that's end of that.
Lower_Kick268@reddit
I really like them, but 200 miles of range in a big minivan just isn't enough plain and simple
Dorjan420@reddit
I think the slow charging is even more of a deal breaker then the range for me. If im going further then 200 miles im going to need a pee and snack break anyhow at some point and if it could get a reasonable amount of range back that would be fine to mesh those activities.
Lower_Kick268@reddit
I would prefer a bigger battery and faster charging, maybe 350 miles of range, I drive to Florida often and there would be a multi hour difference between 200 and 350 miles of range. I calculated before how long it would take on my Bolt from NJ 1100 miles to Key Largo and it would be an extra 15 hours driving my Bolt, I can't imagine the Buzz is any better
Dorjan420@reddit
I get it I honestly would be just driving a ice engine car for that kind of trip myself. Glad there are options for all of us out there.
Lower_Kick268@reddit
I just find it ironic they call it a modern minivan inspired by the VW Bus and forgot the whole reason they sold the VW Bus in the first place. A capable enough vehicle for a family to take on an adventure or trip, you can't do either of those in a Buzz easily lol.
Also I estimate a Tesla getting an average of 300 miles to a battery would only be around 3 hours longer than a gas car, EV's can be good on a road trip, these ones just aren't lol
MaximusManimal@reddit
I was quite surprised by the Chevy Blazer EV, but went a different route due to rampant quality issues reported (like welds, not software bugs).
Lower_Kick268@reddit
We have an Equinox EV and you made the right move, I strongly recommend avoiding the Ultium csrs
throwawayyourfun@reddit
I doubt you'll get much positive response to this post. Most people who consider themselves to be car guys are fairly anti-EV. I don't consider myself anti-EV. I find there are advantages to them. The thing is that I find the advantages best suited to people who wouldn't really give a shit about what they drive. Also, I think people who drive very little would get the best value out of them. Senior aged people, really.
avoidhugeships@reddit
They are not really good for people who don't drive much. Higher upfront cost, higher insurance and that battery does with age even if you don't use it. They are good for people with home charging a short commute and a second gas car for trips.
Lower_Kick268@reddit
This is correct, and they're really not even cheaper to drive anymore, power is $.30 per KW and I gotta pay $250 a year in tax to drive it, and insurance is expensive, once gas goes back down I'm gonna probably sell my Bolt and replace it with a C5 Corvette, would end up probably saving around $700 per year if my math is correct
ImamTrump@reddit
Polestar. It’s just too small inside. Got a Volvo. Which is essentially the same family. At least it was the years I was looking.
avoidhugeships@reddit
EVs are appliances not something to love.

GM EV1
MaleficentExtent1777@reddit
E-tron GT. Still more than I wanted to spend and the updated model is so much better.
Bought a Honda Prologue instead because the price was so good.

Lucid Air. Really nice, pretty great deals on used and certified touring models with great performance. Just didn’t have the fizz.
AskMeaboutMyCorolla@reddit
Mach e. Dealer was just too Proud of em.
No deal
Flea_Mac_Daddy@reddit
Lucid Air. Fun car. Crazy Expensive
Lower_Kick268@reddit
Used ones aren't, you can get a Lucid under 40k easy
Lower_Kick268@reddit
I really like the way the EQS drives, but there is a 0% chance of me ever trusting a modern Mercedes vehicle

MG Cyberster. But it was never available in the USA

Rimac Nevera. I liked it, but ultimately it's a bit expensive. Really needed a 4 door for my day to day
