What size AN is this?

I'm missing one for a clutch line, I haven't done enough AN to tell if this is an 3 or 4

I’m pretty sure that is not AN. Brake/clutch lines have different style threads and sealing taper. If you manage to get a AN to thread into it, I’m nearly certain it won’t seal.

I have the line, the fitting Ive measured in the pic threads into both ends. I've used these AN clutch and brake line kits before so I assumed this an AN as well. I bought it used for a manual swap but missing 1 fitting
FortuneHeart@reddit
Ah ok, I didn’t realize you already had an AN kit for the brakes. I’ve never seen it done that way, I used to make hydraulic and brake/clutch lines for a living.
If you find a hydraulic shop locally I’m sure they can tell you in 5 min what you have or are missing.

He’ll figure it out. Your correct, sir

I already have the AN kit, there's not need to sit and watch me like I'm about to pull threads or strip a fitting

Looks a lot like 1/4 flare to me
OddMathematician6102@reddit
Pretty sure thats a 4
mcstanky@reddit
In my experience, brake and clutch use -3AN, but I don't think this is actually an AN fitting
OddMathematician6102@reddit
Size wise hard tk tell honesyly i didnt even see it was connected to a clutch im fried its definitely not an an line 😂😂 sidnt really read the post lol

An 3 is 10/32 AN 4 is 1/16 larger than that. So that makes AN 4, 1/4
2Drogdar2Furious@reddit
Correct, an4 is 1/4th and an6 is 3/8ths.

Your caliper shows about .400" which would be roughly a 3/8-24 thread and that's used on a 3/16" -3 fitting.
Sweet_Speech_9054@reddit
Looks like -3 but it would help if you turned on the micrometer.
Licbo101@reddit
That’s a caliper, not a micrometer

Check the chart: https://aeroflowperformance.com/fitting-size-chart/
MaybeVladimirPutinJr@reddit
that is AN 8/5
accidentallyonpurpo@reddit
Upside down 8/5 is the best I can do.

AN sizing is by 1/16” so
-3 is 3/16” -4 is 1/4” -8 is 1/2”
On a fitting like that, with what you are measuring:
AN4 = 7/16" -20 = ~9,1mm in threads = ~11,8mm OD AN6 = 9/16" -18 = ~11,6mm in threads = ~14,2mm OD AN8 = 3/4" -16 = ~16,6mm in threads = ~ 19,0mm OD
cibass@reddit
Looks like it measures out at 3/8“ so it should be -03(3/8x24), -04 would be 7/16 thread.
That said the taper on that fitting does look a little off from the picture so might not be a bad idea to verify what the taper actually is or get a matching adapter with whatever hose you order.
