I also had an AST laptop, second hand that I had put together from 3 broken ones. I think however it was a 25MHz 486SX.
But first family PC was an XT (well, technically a TI99/4A but not much happened on that one). Didn't have my own PC until a Slot A K7. And technically that was the family PC, but at a point my brother got his own, and my dad had his own 'cause he got tired of waiting on me and my brother to stop using it, so I just ended up being the only one to use it
Those old specs always bring a smile, I wanted an escom pc (with the infamous turbo button!) Then fell into the dell squad for all my sins (currently have a xps 9300 13")
If it's not already on internet archive, I always suggest imaging the discs and uploading there so that future generations can enjoy the weirdness of the past
I did. Floppy 6 had a small error on my greaseweazle so idk if it will ever fully work but it is archived. Im slowly going through my software and imaging it
Dinner was on the table, it was late and I was starving. The phone rang and the next thing you know I'm signed up for the software of the month club. We learned that day, when I'm hungry, I'm easily manipulated.
31 years later and my wife still brings this up on occasion.

Back in the day inserting some random floppy you got in your mailbox was perfectly acceptable behavior.

Do you mean the Amiga collection?
I've heard of it, but that's about it. Amiga was never my thing, I grew up IBM Compatible.

Yes! My first 'pc' was an ast 386 laptop, was just about able to play doom
