For the New Wavers an 80's music lovers who still attend concerts, this one will be awesome. A great line-up!

I LOVE this song!

Love that whole soundtrack.

Saw The Beat not long before Covid and the only original member of the group was Rankin Roger and he's sadly passed away since then, so I think they've reached the Sugarbabes phase.

Are you in the UK? There is a version that tours the US lead by Dave Wakling. I read that Rogers son took over the UK Beat after his dad passed.
CthulhusEvilTwin@reddit
Yeah saw them at Chinnery's in Southend - they were brilliant and Roger's son was performing with them and was great. Shame they split and Dave is off doing his own version.

If you can get there to see The English Beat, fuckin' do it, they put on an epic and fantastic show! Dave still sounds like a 20 year old. I saw them with Adam Ant in 2024. Hopefully you see them in a place where you can dance. Soooo. Soooooooooo good.

The Beat (I'm in the UK and we just call them "The Beat" over here) are probably my favourite band from the 80s, they have an innate talent for bringing a smile to my face, whatever my mood.

The English best is one of my all time favorites, I’m going to find this show
GoldenMonkeyRedux@reddit
Howard Jones?! My first concert!
Sir_midi@reddit
I saw Howard Jones with the Barenaked Ladies and OMD years ago. I went for OMD but was impressed by Jones. He was an unlikely synthpop hero because he can actually play.
protocol-apps@reddit
Any chance that was at Canada's wonderland?
I'm pretty sure I saw that line-up there around 1986(?).
Western-Calendar-352@reddit
1986? Did you miss the Barenaked Ladies bit?
Sir_midi@reddit
No. I saw them near Detroit and it was more recent. Sometime before Covid.
BoraBlueDogMom@reddit
OMD was my very first concert, and Howard Jones my second...I would've loved seeing them on the same tour together!
Sir_midi@reddit
They just played their hits. I like when they can dig deeper.
Old_Fart68@reddit
Same!! Paramount in Seattle....had to be..84/85
GoldenMonkeyRedux@reddit
I think I saw him in 86 or 87. I'd been to other concerts with my parents and stuff, but that was my first semi-solo. Held in a gym at Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa. I have to look into it.
Honestly, a weird "first" concert, but he was really good.
Old_Fart68@reddit
Animotion opened. Hot girl doing coke next to us. It was the best of times.
pocketdare@reddit
You sound cool. I'd like to get to know you well...
timfinn1972@reddit
Audience is 100% bald men with goatees.
My1point5cents@reddit
I remember going to a depeche mode cover band show in San Diego and it was all bald dudes with sweaty hairy beer bellies.
TransportationNo8300@reddit
Well if I go I have all my hair lol
Waffuru@reddit
Damn, now THAT'S a lineup!
ZweitenMal@reddit
Why the fuck do they do these things at Jones Beach and in New Jersey? And midweek? Do they realize nobody from the actual city can attend these? I’d have to take a whole day off of work to get out to the backside of Long Island, and you’d have to pay me to go to New Jersey.
PowerNinja5000@reddit
Ah yes, by "US and Canada" they mean a single show in a single Canadian city.
Sigh.
ibis_mummy@reddit
Wang Chung opening for The Cars was my first concert.
khan800@reddit
I saw that tour, I thought Wang Chung kinda blew The Cars away. They seemed to be having fun while The Cars seemed to be going through the motions.
ibis_mummy@reddit
Most robotic band that I've ever seen. I will say that they sounded exactly their records. So, there's that.
khan800@reddit
Yes, we definitely saw the same tour!
TheJokersChild@reddit
Sounds like a smaller Totally Tubular tour. Did that one 2 years ago and Wang Chung was part of it. Howard Jones was great last year with ABC (And Richard Blade).
glencoe606@reddit
They are playing the mid state fair in California in July. Going to see them there
wyohman@reddit
I've seen them all recently and they put on a great show. Howard Jones is a great performer
wordstogetherrandom@reddit
Sounds like a good lineup!
