Pashtetë

Tonight I was enjoying a bit of pashtetë/pashtet on the side of my pasul/fasul, and I wonder how my Balkanbros are consuming this delicacy.
How often do you eat pashtetë/pashtet? Do you eat the can in one shot or you keep a bit in the fridge for next day?
Tonight I might have eating what would be considered food of the poor, but I feel like I won life to have such beautiful dinner.
Thanks to my wife.

What is pashtetë?
riquelm@reddit
I put olive oil and slanina/sudžukica in my pasulj, not pašteta :o
Mashinekalibar123@reddit
No im not a poorfag from 2015 or something. Eat kajmak like real man
Double-Aide-6711@reddit
I would say once a month, but I usually alternate with Narezak
J0hnnyBlazer@reddit
Ey I seen this in some stores, you just eat it with bread 🍞? You don’t fry it? Or do you combine it with pasteta for the ultimate Balkan combo?
Double-Aide-6711@reddit
It’s not that fatty, so it’s really good without frying it, not many people fry it. It’s also very popular for meze. I tend to eat it with pogača bread, slices of spicy green pepper, and ajvar, and sometimes I add a layer of pasteta with slices of narezak 👹

king! I will pick up try next time

You’re going to love it, my friend your Balkan blood can only appreciate it !

I am addicted to Argeta chicken paste. We inn Norway have only liver pastei. Chicken or pork. Both disgusting. But when I met my wife 25 years ago i was introduced to argeta. I could eat that stuff 3 times a day every day with fresh white bread. In Norway its about 3€ but in Sweden only 1€ if you buy whole box of 20. So we buy at least 3 boxes for whole family. Probably not the healthiest food but its delicious.😋

Only Tuna pašteta in the summer at the beach with some crunchy fresh bread and a tomato. That's divine.
CandidDebate6827@reddit
peasant food, war is over bro it's almost 30 years, get your hands on some meat or something
Thin-Amphibian6888@reddit
well dont buy the cheapest 0.5€ ones. You can buy homemade which is absolutely delicacy
Thin-Amphibian6888@reddit
the best one is jetrna pašteta / liver pate or some homemade ones you buy from farmer are absolutely delicious

I eat it on a slice of bread, on top a bit of “pavlaka” sour cream on top and tomatoes. Sometimes I drink yogurt with it. I don’t eat it often but when I do I eat Argeta picante.

Sounds delicious 😍
Switter_bitter266@reddit
It is! The best pashteta! 😍
Barbak86@reddit
Argeta, white bread and on the side tomatoes, spring onions and cheese (white/ feta like) with a glass of fresh, cold non-UHT Milk. That's my go to breakfast for the summer time ❤️
Unable-Stay-6478@reddit
The whole can in one go—I spread it on bread, or even better, in a bread roll. Sometimes I put chili sauce on top. I always drink yogurt with it.
DismalManagement3808@reddit
I thank god we did not have it in our family growing up
bnuuy_exe@reddit
I once found a store in Poland where you could get things in mass quantities for catering. I found 2kg of pashtet and would eat blocks of it with my friends when going out. 0 regrets
Intelligent-Place-39@reddit
I would eat it so much more often if it wasn’t so damn expensive. A store near my home was almost $8 for one can of argeta
ExcitedKayak@reddit
I’ve looking for my favourite from my childhood, for the last 25+ years. Finally found it last week at a random deli.
Leshkarenzi@reddit
On a regular basis for breakfast
Argeta spicy (red ring) is my go to. Can't eat other brands of pashtetë/pašteta
Craptose_Intolerant@reddit
Good choice, my personal favorite is the Podravka one ☺️
jajebivjetar@reddit
Made in USA? I didn't know that Podravka had a factory there. I know that it has one in some EU countries except Croatia, but the USA surprised me.
sashaunl@reddit
Podravka selling the license. They don’t have a factory in the States. Branched out pretty much../
Hefty_Jaguar4305@reddit
I'm not familiar with that from Balkan or Turkish cuisine, or perhaps we have a different name for it. But I don't think I know it. Fasul are beans, but what is pashtet?
lelebato@reddit
It’s pate in English
TheEagle74m@reddit
Used to eat long ago. Knowing what kind of 💩they put it in I don’t eat it anymore. Maybe sometimes Ajvar.
baxulax@reddit
WTF is this
No-Championship-4632@reddit
You mean that thing that looks like cat food?
Mysterious-Put1459@reddit
Cat food looks and smells better
karaylo@reddit
On toast with tomato slices !
storky0613@reddit
I eat it two ways. On rye toast with a side of milk, or (and hear me out here) on a cucumber. Usually I just bring a little can and a mini cucumber to work as a snack.
Nflnbafootball@reddit
Multiple times a week with some soft bread
Craptose_Intolerant@reddit
I generously spread mine on a hefty slice of homemade bread (my American wife is a master of making bread and pastries) with chopped onions and parsley sprinkled on the top and one whole sliced tomato on the side with some salt on it 😉
Some cubed Greek feta-like cheese and maybe even some olives on the same plate can make this whole experience even better…
Try it, you can thank me later 😝
Extreme-Fall-9963@reddit
I used to looovvvee it as a kid. Best way is on toast. Unfortunately now as an adult I’ve gone off it after learning everything that’s inside it. 😩
OnePalmOne@reddit
Thank you for sharing the experience.
kozmosi@reddit
Once every 3 months or so for nostalgia. I love it but it’s not healthy so I skip it.
I love the spicy kind with some good cow or sheep cheese.
You literally convinced me to go eat some right now lol
