Yes.
But there are so few places to sit down and eat as a trucker, /sigh.
Acrobatic_Ocelot_461@reddit
Got a protein bowl from Subway that cost 23 bucks. I pack my own food now.
theboywthagreenscarf@reddit
I just get the sandwich of the day deal. 10 bucks for a foot long, chips, and a medium drink. Food is still pretty shitty but at least it doesn’t hurt to bad when I pay.
dstrezzd@reddit
They wanted $13 for a toasted turkey Swiss years ago. I said enjoy the free food and walked out lol
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit (OP)
Dude I got a protein bowl from there one day..it def was like 20 something..I was like WTF lol
SteakAndSkrimp@reddit
i dont support any restruant or t/a truck stop i hope them greedy fucks go out of buisness i only support loves and smaller mom and pop truck stops
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit (OP)
Why do you only support loves?
SteakAndSkrimp@reddit
its really the only major truck stop that doesnt charge for parking and they are always very clean compared to pilots and tas
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit (OP)
Pilot def sucks
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit (OP)
Understood
derpmcturd@reddit
Subway? No, i still get footlong veggie wraps/subs for like $9.50. Taco bell? Absolutely. It used to be dirt cheap like 10 years ago, suddenly a crunchwrap costs $6? I still remember $5 footlongs.
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit (OP)
Who can forget 5$ footlongs?? That’s when everybody ate subway lol
Redsit111@reddit
I ate at country pride once. Rarely do I walk into an eatery, eat, and know with 100% confidence I could have made a better meal. I did there!
Defiant-Medicine3014@reddit
Literally Everything at truck stops is overpriced. I mean one can of fucking Vienna sausages can be over 3 fucking dollars when I was spending less than one dollar at a regular grocery store. They are robbing us blind
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit (OP)
Not fair man..check this out..how bout you can’t use your debt card to buy scratch offs..I was at a TA in Indiana somewhere..you have to use the atm and pay the surcharge (which is 6$) to get money to buy a scratch off smh
Itsalmostover71@reddit
Why you think the term “Highway Robbery” came about? It’s the second oldest profession, come on now. Check it… both of the oldest professions still continue to this day in fact 🤣🤣
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit (OP)
I’m assuming you’re talking about prostitution as the other lol
Itsalmostover71@reddit
Indeed I am. Hence how Highway robbery began, dudes on their way to see them, lol
shadowmib@reddit
Country pride is better than iron skillet, but literally anything is better than both. Dennys is fine dining compared to them.
Theres a Black Bear diner at the Petro in Beaumont TX thats not too bad and the proces are semi reasonable
Itsalmostover71@reddit
Dayum Black Bear went that far east to TX? Holy sheep sheets! 🎶Big Time!🎶 they local here
P0667P@reddit
nothing beats QT’s (QuikTrip) Kitchen. Best food on the road. Good news is they are putting QT’s everywhere now but bad news is they don’t have a whole lot of parking. I order my food through their app and just run in and out.
Prune-These@reddit
Food poisoning doesn’t come cheap.
Itsalmostover71@reddit
“Diarrhea is free no charge!”
GandalfTheSleigh@reddit
Absolutely and the food is hot garbage. Iron skillet has a better selection, but it’s all pre-frozen crap.
Chuuby_Gringo@reddit
Dennys is pretty frozen crap, but it's better pre frozen crap than iron skillet
TwistedAirline@reddit
The few locations that have a black bear diner in them is where it’s at. Still expensive of course, BUT the portions are huge and the food quality is actually worth the money
Itsalmostover71@reddit
Black Bear kicks ass! Get those egg sliders, delicious. I’m fortunate I’m surrounded by them. That’s sum good food there. Most common one is Wheeler Ridge, CA.
Itsalmostover71@reddit
“Well if those damm truckers weren’t so greedy our prices would be lower, but Nooo! Gotta have all that fancy gear and Chrome! What is it with you guys n chrome?” 🤣
Whitehoneybun666@reddit
For that price I’d DoorDash something
Beneficialsensai@reddit
Truckstop over priced?hmmmm?
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit (OP)
They take advantage of drivers..they think we’re all rich..even if I have money I don’t waste it..that’s how you keep it lol..I have food on my truck..I got a bad of chicken strips and frozen rally’s fries lol
FaceWithAName@reddit
The meal of a champion
Elite_Slacker@reddit
Everything in every truckstop
shadowmib@reddit
ANYTHING at a truck stop is overpriced.
Alarming_Star_6549@reddit
They have sky rocketed since the pandemic and taken away what was the part of eating there...THE SALAD BAR!! I seriously miss the petro salad bar.
Radiant_Swan187@reddit
I used my free meal point a few weeks ago. Its was still too expensive
MssMoodi@reddit
Do----waat. Are you kidding me. I'd be sacking It big time.
homucifer666@reddit
Considering we paid that much for two people at The Habit last night, yeah.
trucksarekewl@reddit
As long as morons keep spending this kinda money on a burger they're gonna keep doing it
MostlyUseful@reddit
Yes. That and the extremely poor quality of food. I generally cook in my truck, but on occasion my fridge and freezer are empty or I’m lazy and hit up a Country Pride or Iron Skillet. Dude you can get a better burger for less at Texas Roadhouse. What’s even worse, you pay all that money and can barely make it from their restaurant to the restroom after eating it.
MoosiePie22@reddit
Holy shit yeah that’s horribly overpriced!!!
nicerakk@reddit
TA/Petro has been over priced in general. The price gouging went into overdrive ever since BP bought them. I assume they're trying to recoup the money they got fined for the oil spill in the gulf
