My training is going very slowly.

So my training is going very slowly. unnecessarily and frustratingly slow. Like what's even the point of being here slow.
For context, I've been with this company for 2+ weeks now and have about 30 driving hours. First week, the truck needed to be fixed and trainer said i could go home for a couple days. Apparently that wasn't right but that was 3-4 days lost.
Then, trainer had a family emergency so I went home again for a weekend.
These two events combined with being stuck sitting at shippers, trainer driving for some reason, and waiting for info from dispatch is why I've driven less than a normal 9-5 job in two weeks. I say this as I sit waiting for a pickup time that's in 6 hours but 45 minutes away.
I genuinely just want to get this over with. I'm good at driving and could have been so much farther if anything went according to how I'd schedule it but I'm on everyone else's time.
Should I leave and find another job? Can I bring it up to management and ask to shorten the training time because of how much has just been wasted? What would you do?

It took me 15 hours to do a 2 hour run the other day. 😬

Been there couple weeks ago truck had a 4 hour drive to Birmingham from Jackson it ended up taking around 12-13 the truck wouldn’t drive for more than 2 minutes without shutting off

Update: So everyone is telling me this is just how it is?
My trainer is about to quit. I think I'll be put in a hotel? Idk yet. I'm in the middle of nowhere and hopefully getting back to the terminal tomorrow.
Still at 30 hrs, going on 3 weeks.

Some 50 year old is scrubbing shit out of a toilet for less than your training pay right now.
If you think truck driving is nothing more than driving on the highway eating rollerdogs and sipping coffee then you didnt even bother doing any research.
Picked up a preload the other day missing a mudflap. The assembly was bent to a point where I had to attach a strap to it and back over it to get it off my wheel. Drove it 150 miles to a shop, where they checked my MIL lamp out and Ive been sitting on my ass since 1900 yesterday. I should have been on the road by 0500 this morning. But instead im getting paid $15 an hour to sit here and wait.
Your training is going just fine, you just havent been on your own long enough to know that.

Don’t want to be job hopping when you’re a rookie with no experience. Just stick it out and get your training in

That's trucking you'll get used to it.

Hahahaha!
Stop thinking things will go as planned and plan for the worst. Because it will get worse than you planned.
Laugh at it and move on about your day.
Good luck mate 🤞

Trucking is about ‘being on every one else’s time ‘. lol.

Welcome to truck driving.
If you aren't patient this job is going to make you a crazy person.
You can forget all about your schedule, the universe is in charge now and it is not friendly.

it’s like when you’re racing the clock and you get stuck in traffic.. trucking definitely made me stress out a lot..

There’s a saying in this industry and I suggest you learn it - Hurry up and wait.

This is part of trucking bro. You’re gonna have slow weeks, it just so happens yours happens during training. Shit I’d be glad you got to even go home. You’re gonna leave and the company and then what? Go to another company to restart the whole training process again? Pay your dues bro.

Ask for a different trainer.

Unfortunately this is part of paying your dues. I only drove 4 days a week for 6 weeks straight during my training period. It sucked to sit in a truck for 3 days a week doing nothing. But my company paid really well for training so I didnt mind.
Plus some older truckers let me practice backing while sitting at our company yard while my trainer was home doing what he does.
