I got a 308 ba barrel on sale at ar15fdiscounts, it came completely unmarked and ar15d demanded it back. Their cs was pretty shit for about a week, then they relented and let me swap for a $20 different barrel. Then they created a label and forgot to ship it for a week and a half. Finally got the replacement barrel yesterday, this barrel was before a st paddy’s sale.
Losing BA and Aero is gonna suck as the m4e1 platforms are really builder friendly.
I got to learn how to tap for the rest detent pin and spring channel , bought extended drill bit and airplane extended reach tap, going to tap bolt catch. And those pins are a bitch to find.
IcebergBayou@reddit
If you're talking about the Aero threaded bolt catch pins the oem are really hard to find but there are some aftermarket options now.
Zeus Arms sells em: https://zeusarms.com/threaded-bolt-catch-screw/
trgrimes77@reddit
I was able to get the last couple from weaponsmart, shipping was more expensive than a single bolt. My drill bit and extension tap came from Amazon last night. Goal is drilling out later this week, gotta find something to practice on as basically I will have to figure out away to put a block on the receiver to allow me to rest the bit along to drill straight.
CrankBot@reddit
Yeah I really like their products because in the past it was a good value step up from the basic PSA stuff. Shame they can't get their shit together.
AttentionDeficit789@reddit
They have some good deals on BA barrels I've been debating buying a few but worried about warranty etc.
trgrimes77@reddit
I get it but past first couple of rounds I am not sure how barrel warranty works and they haven’t gone under yet I get if it is like rifled wrong or the gas port is in the wrong spec, but those seem like things that would be discovered quickly. I never thought about long term resilience in warranty terms. Have you had to contact for warranty years later? I am genuinely interested in how it worked.

Vorpalis@reddit
Is BA just slowly dying? It seems like so much is out of stock on their website and at dealers.
charsons@reddit
Subsidiary of Aero, they unfortunately are most likely going to go down with the ship and be sold off
BlastBaffle13@reddit
Its amazing that a business with a ton of demand for out of stock products can go out of business. It doesnt look good
charsons@reddit
Aero had a winning business model selling great products and builders kits at a slightly more premium price than your average Anderson.
Unfortunately they’re owned by private equity, White Wolf Capital. I’d be willing to bet they pissed away whatever goodwill they had away in the name of shareholder value
Bradyrulez@reddit
You'd think that after the Freedom Group disaster, more firearms manufacturers would realize that private equity and guns go about as well together as a deep fryer and ice cubes.
therealruin@reddit
Yeah but me and my PE bros are totally unique and are going to do it differently and we’re going to be so successful not like those other guys and hey where’d my business go?
Hellsing971@reddit
They're too big and have cashflow problems because of it. Scaling manufacturing down is pretty much impossible. Like they are setup to produce 10k of every part that goes into an AR15 per month but demand is only at like 5k per month. They can't just turn all their machines and labor force down to 50%. Instead they have to fire off half their staff and pick 50% of the stuff they can produce and still make 10k of each. Then because demand is way below supply for what they did produce, they have to sell it too cheap. That's why Aero and BA stuff is always OOS despite their being decent demand and then suddenly AR15discounts has massive piles of random Aero Precision and BA stuff on sale for super cheap.
Congenital_Stirpes@reddit
It’s a bummer. Loved building out their receiver sets.
Ok_Matter_1774@reddit
The Washington laws might be screwing them over.
CrankBot@reddit
Ballistic Advantage is actually based on Florida IIRC
Ok_Matter_1774@reddit
I believe Aero owns part or most of them.
Junction91NW@reddit
WA laws have specific carve outs to exempt manufacturers. Bad take.
Ok_Matter_1774@reddit
No it doesn't. HB1240 doesn't allow them to sell inside Washington State. I'm not saying this is the sole reason, especially because the law is a few years old, but as a business, not being able to sell within their home state probably messes with them quite a bit. Plus, they've probably spent quite a bit of money fighting the law.
Junction91NW@reddit
They’re a national company. Not an LGS. They lost a few million potential customers, sure. But the reason for their downfall has jack shit to do with the state AWB. They were bought by private equity and leveraged themselves to the hilt with a new facility and paid dog shit wages so nobody wanted to work for them.
PageVanDamme@reddit
Gun industry’s margin sucks. There’s a reason why Magpul stayed out of manufacturing firearms.
BlastBaffle13@reddit
There is unfulfilled demand for aero products. No supply- no sales. The sd curve allows some increase in margin if demand outpaces supply?
proquo@reddit
The problem is meeting the supply. Purely in theory does low supply and high demand equal increased margins. When you increase the margins you see the sellers raise the price or else not carry as much of your product. When the price goes up you are competing with more premium names with a stronger brand image. If an Anderson lower cost as much as a BCM I'd just get the BCM to avoid the stigma if nothing else.
And at some point you are at the capacity of what you can build. There's a lot of steps in the process of building a lower, from the actual machining to the anodizing. Usually some aspect of the process is contracted out, for example the castle nuts might not be made in house. If there's a single supply chain crunch then the whole process grinds to a halt. You can't ship parts kits if you are missing detents, you can't complete a lower if you're missing end plates or castle nuts. A lot of companies start to bring that manufacture in house but that also requires investment in tooling, materials, personnel and workspace.
If you need capital to expand operations to meet demand but don't have any flowing in because you can't produce enough to meet demand then you have a few options to get the money but all of them involve you owing people. Those people tend to want to get paid back, and if you aren't bringing in enough revenue because you don't have enough to sell to pay off the credit you took to expand operations then you end up in a spiral where you lay people off and restructure to reduce costs but can't still can't produce the product to get you out of the hole.
Many businesses have fallen to this, and it's way worse if you took out the credit during a market boom but have to pay it off during a market bust. 2024-2025 was a bad year for the firearms industry because even with an election everyone was too tapped out or had already bought the guns they wanted to buy more, and there were so many deals on good stuff that it was hard to compete.
PaulPatrolRescue@reddit
i think so. not because they're hated or anything. business is a jungle where you work hard and have to get lucky.
Sunny_Singh10@reddit
OGs remember when BA let us stack 40% off with "mobile20" for additional 20% off.
charsons@reddit
(up to) 40% off (inflated) MSRP, ends up being higher than street price
CrankBot@reddit
Oof you're not kidding. I think I got a Hanson profile barrel just last year for ~$130 shipped, now they're $190 "on sale."
grimy_ranarr_99@reddit
My last BA barrel shot like TRASH :(
Congenital_Stirpes@reddit
I just built out a 13.9” BA chrome lined barrel and the first 5 shots all connected same hole at 50 yards. Good enough for government work.
HomersDonut1440@reddit
That sucks :/ I have a 24” 6 arc from BA that’s a laser beam
Papa_Zyn@reddit
I got a 14.5 pencil that shoots better than my 16” falcon gunner. Weirdly pleased
grimy_ranarr_99@reddit
my 300BLK shoots lights out with Discreet. but this most recent was 3MOA+
Papa_Zyn@reddit
That’s tough. I’ve had just about every barrel you can buy from Gorilla Machine and BCA to Criterion and I have never had anything shoot outside of 2.5 moa so maybe I’ve just gotten lucky but the gunner was that 2-2.5 moa which was surprising to me as they always had a solid reputation
jafranc702@reddit
Good luck getting your shit, and if you do get it, good luck on the QC.
Squash__head@reddit
Never have stock anymore
kaloozi@reddit
Business as usual for like the past month
HappyLocksmith8948@reddit
I think that sales been up for a while or 30% off.
Sucks a lot of their sale prices are more than online retailers have them up for

Pretty sure they raised the price on everything an extra 10% over the 30% sale
johnhd@reddit
OP you missed the very tiny "up to".
