Best gaming monitor under $200?
Posted by PelosiPrinter@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 24 comments
Hey there, building my first computer set up, just build my PC and desk, now looking for a decent monitor preferably under $200 if possible. Was looking for any recommendations? Based on my research I’d like it to be an IPS, 1440, 144 hz+, maybe 27 inch? But open to other options/recommendations!
Thanks in advance.

Very bad brand

under $200 it usually makes more sense to drop to 1080p 144–180hz ips or catch a sale on entry 1440p, since true 1440p 144hz panels at that price can be hit or miss on quality.
Gigabyte options get brought up a lot in this range because they tend to keep solid panel performance and reliability without cutting too many corners to hit the price

Under $200 for 1440p IPS 144hz is kind of the sweet spot people aim for, but it usually depends on sales. From what I’ve seen, a lot of recommendations in that range include brands like gigabyte, msi, or aoc since they tend to have a few models that hit those specs without going too expensive.

This would probably be my recommendation atm.

It's a two year old monitor at this point, but was originally sold at around the $300 price point. Newer inexpensive IPS monitors have come out that get similar on paper specs to this one in the sub $200 range, and it seems like Asus has been having sales on this model that puts it in that price class as well. But it has a generally higher quality backlight and response tuning than many of the other sub $200 180hz panels. It also has ELMB Sync, which lets you use backlight strobing with VRR (aka G-Sync / FreeSync) which few other monitors allow for.

what are tour thoughts? are you enjoying the monitor?

I ordered it online so it hasn’t arrived yet, but I’ll update you once I get it and play on it!

The best deal right now is a 27-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1440p and a refresh rate of 144 to 170 Hz. Check out the Gigabyte M27Q or M27Q P, as well as the AOC Q27G2S or LG 27GN800.

Are there certain reputable brands I should be looking out for more than others?
bikecatpcje@reddit
Just avoid white label brands, mainly because of QA and warraty.
MSI, Asus all have good model at this price range
AOC usually offers more for less, so it's also a good budget option

Thank you kindly, will check these out!

I doubt your going to be hitting 144fps at 1440p if your on a budget like this, doesnt mean you shouldn't buy it but something to consider

Do you mind elaborating? Ive seen a bunch of monitors 180+ hz under $200. Just not sure which one to get

I think he means your PC specs

Ahh ok, I have a 5060 and ryzen 5 9600x if that helps

You'll be fine just don't expect 144 in AAA games at ultra settings. I run 1440p with a 5700XT and it's still fine for most things and a 5060 is much better. You might not be able to crank textures up to max with 8GB and might need to turn a few settings down a little in new games
misteryk@reddit
even cards like 5060ti and 9060 xt (16gb versions) can handle native 1440p in most games and dlss/framegen exists and its what it was actually designed for, you're already having 60fps and can generate more to hit whatever your monitor handles

Is Xiaomi G27Q 240Hz available?

I’m selling my 34 Asus ROG 4K IPS for $220 in South San Jose. Perfect working condition just wouldn’t fit my Secret Lab Duel monitor mount.

This is more but its a very good monitor sace some money for it (in my country it costs close to 200$) AOC 25G4SXU FHD Fast IPS 310 Hz
