why are so many like this? this thing is basically an emoto. sure it has plenty of range to get home. ebikers that lazy?
Physical_Click9769@reddit
I'll never understand the elitism on reddit..it has peddles, 2 wheel and uses a battery, its an ebike.. but who cares, u don't know this persons situation, at least theyre not driving car, stop taking pictures of ppl its rude, mind ur business.
Major_Alley_Cat@reddit
I ride an full sized fat tire 26x4 e-bike and I'm not lazy instead of pedaling a normal bike 20 miles I use pedal assist on my e-bike and pedal for 60+ miles.
urthen@reddit
Oh hey you ride the same train I do - yeah this pic doesn't do it justice, sometimes we get several giant ebikes during rush hour when it's already standing room only. And they all cram themselves in acting like everyone else is an asshole for daring to also need to ride the train.

Is this guerilla marketing for the bike manufacturer?
The e moto appears to be in the space for bikes, luggage, and scooters, as can be seen from the scooter on the floor opposite.
averagemagnifique@reddit (OP)
It's a freaking emoto man
DueOwl1149@reddit
Hang your bike over the dude lol
Or hang it over the scooter
It's the same as if they had brought on 3 suitcases for a trip to the airport and rolled them into that space.
Inconvenient, but unless there's a regulation against e motos in that space, then they just got there before you did.

No doubt on that last bit

How are regular bicycles transported on this system? Where I live, the trains have bike cars. On one system, I'd have to be able to put it in a vertical rack. On the light rail, they have bike racks on the end of the train, so you have to lift your bike up on to it. I don't know if either kind of rack would accommodate a heavy, fat-tire vehicle like that. We're not allowed to take up regular passenger space with our bikes. We can only bring folders below a certain size into passenger cars. If having your bike with you like that in a regular passenger car is normal on that train system, my bicycle wouldn't take up much less room than that moped. It's a little narrower, but I don't think it would make much difference.

Bikes are either hung up on hangers or you have to stand in this open little area with your bike. These are small cars and this was taken at the beginning of the route so the train has filled in way more. People gotta work around these big bikes then the owners cant even handle them to move out of people's way. It's more the cumbersome weight of them not allowing easy manipulation
HG1998@reddit
Used up all the battery and then the bike is so heavy or simply not meant to be pedaled or both.
Most ebikers aren't really sporty cyclists, so they can't pedal them without completely tiring themselves out very fast.
Notice how this is basically a single speed. I'd probably not want to pedal it too.
ImprovementDues@reddit
It's an e moto not an e bike attempting to skirt the rules having a single speed pedal. I bet you it has a lot more power than the law allows without a license or a plate. That being said it's an empty train and OP is being a karen.
Calthecool@reddit
Wow that train is packed, I’m surprised you managed to squeeze yourself in there
averagemagnifique@reddit (OP)
It happened now, doesn't mean it doesn't happen when the train is parked. Even worse because the people usually cant even handle their emoto to move out of people's way
guhman123@reddit
Ok, feel free to come back when you see that ebike on a crowded train
ImprovementDues@reddit
Some people have nothing better to do than complain.

Sybau
Chicken_cordon_bleu@reddit
Maybe this person wouldn't have taken his bike on the train if it was packed. Maybe his battery is about to die and he needs to get home and figured the train is empty enough for him not to be a nuisance. Did you have a conversation with him or just snap a quick picture for reddit?
averagemagnifique@reddit (OP)
Maybe I cant dox a smiley face so I just snapped a quick Pic for reddit
averagemagnifique@reddit (OP)
Also I'm stuck standing with my bike instead od being able to use one of the 2 other seats meant for cyclists
atlasraven@reddit
Doesn't effect you at all.
averagemagnifique@reddit (OP)
I cant hang my bike now, I cant sit cuz he's taking up seat spaces. Seems like both things do but sure
Iron_Oxhide@reddit
While I would never consider bringing a bike that bulky onto public transit, I do occasionally throw my bike on bus or ferry bike racks to meet up with friends so I'm not putting in 15miles before we meet for longer rides.
Odd-Variety-3802@reddit
Chicago CTA has no-bike hours during peak rush hour. Sometimes it is even enforced.
Frost354@reddit
40amp battery could mean it makes less than 40 mile range, and if you hammer it even less. Plus, since they're a risk of legal/illegal given the areas riding in traffic you could get pulled over or hit so maybe he's taking the bus(?) to a better suited area where he can cruise some calmer streets home.
When I ride mine yeah, it could keep up with traffic but gets garbage mileage in colder weather while at high speed and means I expect cars to notice a completely silent vehicle next to them when they couldn't notice a sport bike wailing at 12k rpm. No thanks, side roads to work only in town.
DarkVoid42@reddit
yes. people who buy the wrong ebike for multimodal transport is also a thing. because people are assholes.
