For some, not for me. I've been to far nicer lake towns around the Balkans, Europe and North America. But it's my opinion. I have no issue if others liked it.
The only nice part of town is the old part below the fort, and even that area only has a few nice spots. The Church of St. John was obviously nice, but thats it. Naum was a good 50 minute drive from town, so I don't consider thag being in the town of Ohrid. We were there in the summer, and it was so crowded. We had to wait hours at the restaurants for a table, and even that was rough, because the restaurants all basically had the same food, that wasn't anything special. Personally, I feel there are nicer places to visit than Ohrid. Plus, I understand that Ohrid tourism has gone down from the days of Yugoslavia.
I don't know, I liked walking next to the lake, I loved walking up to the fort, all next to the lake. Yup, Neum is far, but then again, it would be a shame to miss it when you are in Ohrid. As for food, I don't know where you sit, but I had some nice meals.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the names of the restaurants we ate at. But all 3 were in the main area in the old town, on the water. One was a pizza place, not bad, but ketchup used for pizza sauce is a failure. The place we ate for dinner, I ordered grilled chicken breast and it was just plain served on a lettuce leaf. No seasoning, no marinade. No side dish with it, but it was still expensive. Like I said, not my cup of tea. I found other areas of Macedonia more affordable and nicer. I should also mention, I'm American and not of Balkan heritage, so I went into it with an American expectations
the houses look so northern greek village but i’ll go with like bulgaria? could also be albania because i’ve seen some extremely nice waters there but the mountains…
It looks pretty Bulgarian dude. At first I thought this is somewhere around Golden Sands. But of course, this was just at first glance without looking that these are old houses. And yes, we don't have a place with that exact layout and also lacking a beach, which shows that this is a lake, not the seaside.
This guy thinks that Bulgaria is the best and most developed country in the world, while in his eyes we are just some Balkan peasants that live in huts and still get around with carts.
Yes unfortunately, Reddit often shelters people that are disconnected with reality, like this guy.
How the fuck am I biased? I literally said this is definitely not in Bulgaria, although it can be mistaken for it at first glance.
We have a coastline and the houses also are just typical Balkan ones. Wtf are you even talking about? This has nothing to do with propaganda or hatred against Macedonia

A lot of people saying this is Ohrid. Went there once in the summer of 2017. Went with a Macedonian friend of mine. Worst place I've ever visited.

First time hearing that for Ohrid. It can't replace salt sea water, but it's a rather nice place to visit and stay a few days.

Although beautiful, I hate how it's the norm to have the PRIME REALESTATE be alloted to cars - items that can't even stop there to appreciate it.
I think the coastline should be for people and the road should go on the other side of the town.
Beautiful from this arial view, but it doesn't seem walkable for people to enjoy a stroll next to the sea at all when you zoom in...

Yes, although the waters are clear and looks like some adriatic seaside village , it still has more lakeside characteristics .
