Do you still have your secondary school signed shirt?

I left school 2 years ago, and I'm still upset about the fact that the back of my leavers shirt got ruined, and all of the ink splurged everywhere due to heavy rain when I was walking home and I didn't bring a coat. the front is fine, but my favourite teacher wrote a message on the back, and now it's completely illegible.
Those of you who have left school, do you still have your shirt?
VioletFireCat@reddit
Now that's a fun memory, going around with my friends on the last day and signing everyones shirts. I'm pretty sure mine are still tucked away somewhere, both primary and secondary school!
Equivalent_Half883@reddit
No. Left school in 08 I think it ended up in a charity shop
HirsuteHacker@reddit
Got it somewhere, yeah. Lot of messages about keeping in touch from people I never saw or heard from again, ha.
Specialist_Emu7274@reddit
We did it in year11, I stayed for sixth form though so was a bit pointless. Covid happened so never did it again. I kept the yr11 for maybe a month before getting rid. I don’t have any ‘sentimental’ things from school- it was not a time of my life that I particularly want to remember.
Mysterious_County154@reddit
I have my one from Primary school
I wasn't there for the last day of secondary school so didn't get one
srig8@reddit
And my record of achievement, stuffed with my “100% attendance” and GCSE certificates.
Never been asked to present it once.
OodRiday@reddit
My time at secondary schools were unhappy times.
Later, one of my secondary schools was demolished.
I wish I had known. I'd've gladly helped them to destroy it.

Bloke who left school in 1981 : WTF?
OodRiday@reddit

cleb9200@reddit
Bloke who left school in 1994, also WTF?
Realistic_Bus_4547@reddit
Bloke who left school in '94: had mine until I left for Brazil in 2009
Viking-Bastard-XIV@reddit
‘93, same

Shirt signing is where, generally, on the last day of school, students sign eachothers shirts as a sort of keepsake.
VolcanicBear@reddit
No.
I socialised with extremely unpleasant people and generally prefer to forget that period of my life.
Temporary-Zebra97@reddit
Didn't get one assuming they did them, last day after the morning assembly I left to go the cinema with a mate.
sleepyprojectionist@reddit
I left secondary school 25 years ago, and even back then I wasn’t especially sentimental.
I didn’t keep hold of my signed shirt.
I lost touch with all of the people I went to school with when I left for university.
My home town was not somewhere I particularly wanted to go back to, so at most I went home perhaps once a year.
It’s not really a time of my life that I think about. I have absolutely no rose-tinted nostalgia for my school years.
Longjumping-Act9653@reddit
I left in 2004 and threw mine out a few years ago. At some point you’ll realise no one but you cares whose scrappy signature that is, and eventually you won’t remember either. Get rid.
LaurenNotABot@reddit
I left in 98 and have no idea where it is .
7Zedifier3@reddit
I do. I left school in 1989. I almost never look at it though and I think I might bin it next time I go in the loft for a clear out. I don’t have particularly fond memories of that school. I just kept it because I’m always scared I’ll regret these things if I bin them and I think they’re nice to show my children. I’ve done that. It’s served its purpose. My 17-year-old has already chucked his. He thinks (I rescued it and put it in my wardrobe in case he regrets it!).
Harribo1034@reddit
Still got mine! Even if half the names have faded
Ashamed-Assumption12@reddit
I left 1990 and don't have my signed shirt anymore. Still have some of my GCSE coursework though.
buy_me_a_pint@reddit
I never had my shirt signed, as we were required to wear our full uniforms in exams , this was back in 2000
Bellatrixforqueen@reddit
Left in 1997, it’s at my parents house
Rob_B_@reddit
Was too shy to ask, but I’m not all that bothered about it
grouchytortoise@reddit
I’ve literally just thrown away my primary school one this week (from 2004) along with a bunch of personalised school/dance team hoodies and T-shirts ranging 2004-2023. I’ve got photos if I want to look back, I don’t need clothes I’ll never wear cluttering up the place.
icanhearsheeps@reddit
At my school everyone had notebooks that we all wrote little goodbye letters in along with some photos. I added to mine when I finished college and left for uni as well.
DisloyalMouse@reddit
lol, I haven’t thought about that in years. I think it’s probably somewhere at my parents house. I certainly don’t remember throwing it out.
I do remember all the guys were trying to use it as an excuse to inappropriately touch the girls whilst signing our shirts though…
Sutty100@reddit
Yes I think so... Not looked at in 20 years. I wouldn't worry about it!
MoosesHuman@reddit
Nope, I'm guessing I must have thrown them away at some point but I don't remember.
Motor-Platform295@reddit
I've still got mine from 1986
talkative_parrot25@reddit
I’m 41 I still have mine and my badge and tie 😂😂😂
clovenheart1066@reddit
Nah, i accidentally washed mine, it just became a grey polo.
Aethelstan9two7@reddit
I left in 2000 my Mum has mine..
UnIntelligent-Idea@reddit
Yes, from 1997
BiasTap@reddit
It wasn't 'a thing' at my school but I've binned most stuff from my school days.
SwansEscapedRonson@reddit
I’ve still got them , my primary school and my secondary school one; I’m 31 now. They’re nice to look at every now and then, but honestly if the house went up in flames and I lost them I wouldn’t be devastated. I’ve looked at them enough times to internalize them, and the pen marks have all kinda spread out through the fabric, so a lot of it is illegible. Don’t be too upset, keep thinking over the messages written on the shirt and commit that to memory, that’ll serve you well enough!
Particular_Pickle465@reddit
I finished year 11 3 years ago now, I still have the shirt :)
NortonBurns@reddit
Wasn't a thing when I left. Sounds a bit of an American import to me.
gander8622@reddit
Never did it. All the kids from my primary went to the same secondary and then I left school at 16. Abit of a shame, but I really can't remember anyone from school all that well.
I imagine everyone who went onto 6th year (in Scotland) did it.
Hot-Sign-249@reddit
Nope. I hated secondary school. And hated everyone in my year
grimaces111111@reddit
I skipped school that day, waste of time just fucking about saying bye to people I dont care about
AlfCosta@reddit
Yeah. Left school in 1984.
Bastrato@reddit
I binned it about 20 years ago
Ill-Caterpillar6681@reddit
Yes I’m about to turn 40 I have both my primary and secondary signed shirts
Balanced-Order@reddit
Never had a signed one…I was too shy to ask people. lol
atsevoN@reddit
Not sure but now you make me want to have a look and find it. Think it’s in the bin though
cloud__19@reddit
Unless you empty your bin very rarely, I don't think you'll find it.
JanCueElQi@reddit
I do, 18 years later.
Legitimate_War_397@reddit
Yep, and 11 years later the same people that signed it I see at the local pub at least 5 times a year.
Ebony_221b@reddit
Burned it along with my tie. Hated that place with a passion and got rid of anything associated with it as soon as possible. Other than my certificates.
yalliepants@reddit
18 years later I still have mine. Semi smudged, looking a bit yellow, but it's still in a box somewhere.
beeurd@reddit
I don't remember doing that at secondary school. We did it at primary school but my nana washed it, bless her 😂
Loose_Avocado4670@reddit (OP)
Oh dear🤣
I probably still have mine from primary.
HalfAgony-HalfHope@reddit
No, I binned it when Mum sold the old house. Before that it sat in a drawer for 20 years.
TinksLudo@reddit
I've still got my primary school one (went to a completely different secondary to everyone else) and secondary. Well I say I have them, they're in a wardrobe at my parents' 😂
Ambitious-Twist2512@reddit
Yeah, I’ve still got mine tucked away somewhere safe, even if it’s a bit faded now.
Dull_Life_4217@reddit
Yes 30 years later
Mdl8922@reddit
Nope, it's long gone.
